《Immortal Ascension Tower (OLD)》Chapter 79 - White Dream Cauldron

A figure advanced through what looked like an extremely vast, empty space. His features were hidden by a mysterious blur, only a pair of incredibly beautiful blue eyes could be seen.
This pair of blue eyes were like two gems: at the same time as deep as the sea and yet as bright as the sky!
Although the figure seemed to be going at a slow pace, each of his step actually propelled him at such speed that it would make one feel cold shiver down his back. Let alone seeing his true self, even the afterimages went so fast they couldn't be made out!
Suddenly, a lone building appeared off in the distance. It looked like a completely normal wooden hut, with only a few simple decoration here and there. Seeing this modest house that looked like a lowly peasant's home, the figure couldn't help but chuckle bitterly.
"Seriously... After all these years he still has no sense of pride! If it meant saving up a single coin, he would already have started licking the seller's boots... What the hell is up with this modest hut!" The figure sighed and then came to a stop in front of the door.
He didn't need to cough or to announce his presence: the door suddenly opened seemingly by itself, revealing the space within the small hut.
"Worker... What a rare occasion! To actually come here in person and not sending one of your... toys. It truly is an honor!" An high-pitched voice came out from within the hut.
"Those thinghs... What did you like to call them? Skylore? Highfallen? No? I don't seem to remember... Oh well, it doesn't matter! Please, come on in, come on in!" The voice invited.
The blurred figure smiled bitterly and then walked inside. As soon as he did, the door closed by itself and a powerful smell of medicinal herbs wafted towards him. He ignored the pungent odour and looked around: the hut was a few meters long and had a total of two rooms.
Currently, the only door separating the two rooms was closed. Worker sighed as if he was used to this and waved his hand: a simple, wooden chair appeared out of thin air.
"Oh? You are such in a good humour you actually got off your lazy bum and used that unique power of yours to create a majestic and otherworldly chair! Really, something incredible must have happened while I was locked in here with my medicinal herbs!" The voice from before jokingly remarked.
"..." Two blue eyes gleamed as the temperature seemed to rise and smoke began to come out from the cracks in the closed door's frames...
Following that, a loud explosion and a sharp howl could be heard.
"It was a joke! A frigging joke! You are so dense! The materials used in this process cost me decades of services to bastards like you! I just recently gained a century of freedom and I will have to go back to work now to earn back what has been lost!"

A figure walked out of the closed room "Just what the hell is wrong with you!"
Tall, handsome, he had a pair of piercing grey eyes. Currently though, the youth's beautiful face as well as his long, white hair and white robes had all turned black, charred.
He was holding what looked like a mass of burnt herbs and elixirs in his hands, his expression was one of reminiscence.
"Goodbye my sweet ingredients, I won't forget you..." As he sighed, the objects turned into dust and got blown away. However, for some strange reason, as soon as the cloud of dust left the house it completely disappeared from existence...
Worker looked on, his eyes cold, without the single trace of the warmth he had showed when he had spoken with Jin FengHuang, back in the Plane of Existence where he had met Cheng Hao. The unusual coldness sent a cold shiver running down the other's spine.
"N-No need to repay any of them, of course!" The white-haired man waved his hands anxiously. He hurriedly coughed to clear his voice and snapped his fingers: both his charred clothes and burnt body turned back into their original appearances.
"So... What's the matter, Senior Worker?" The man asked. An amused smile could be seen at the corner of his lips: has somebody been able to piss off this guy? Hats off to them and their corpse!
Worker stood silent for a while before sighing. He looked down and crossed his hand in front of his face, hiding his expression "... Say, Caul?"
"Mmm? Yeah, what is it?" Caul tilted his head and his expression grew serious: few times in the past had he ever seen this old buddy of his so serious before.
"Let's say... Hypothetically... Someone was able to con me-"
"Con THE Worker? Are you for real!?!" The white-haired man stared in shock, his grey eyes widening. Finally, his thin lips arranged into a playful grin "Who was it? I gotta give my homage to them-"
"AND STILL HYPOTHETICALLY!" The Worker yelled as two patches of red appeared on his cheeks. The wooden planks trembled, some of the objects within the small hut even turned into splinters.
"Yeah, yeah! Everything is hypothetical, of course, of course!" the white-haired man waved his hands, nodding seriously. Caul however, was still chuckling on the inside 'As if! Seeing your reaction, I really want to meet this guy now...'
Seeing that, Worker sighed bitterly. He had fooled numerous people in the past and knew flattery when he saw it. He let it go however, and kept going with his explanation.
"As I was saying... This guy hypothetically conned me and he kind of hypothetically got all the time he wanted within the door of the Hidden Inner Devils Gate... Should I be concerning myself about that?"
"You mean if you should be concerned... Hypothetically, right?" Caul suggested, evidently very concerned himself.

A vein popped on the Worker's blurry appearance "Drop the Hypothetical stuff for now! Just say it! That, that... thing. Even I do know to which depts it can go! That door has been a mystery ever since it had appeared!" he looked deep into the other's grey eyes and clenched his fists "So... Do you think this is a good or bad thing?"
The blurry figure's two piercing, blue eyes examined Caul's face as the white-haired young man pondered. Worker shifted uncomfortably as he looked around.
As more than one hour passed, another vein popped on top of Worker's forehead once more.
"What the hell! How much does it take to ponder wether it is a good or bad thing?"
"Mmm? Oh sorry, got caught thinking how much I should sell this information for... THE worker got conned!" The youth's lips arranged into a dreamy smile. Then, his expression grew serious again.
"After all, the herbs you destroyed weren't really the kind you could pick by the roadside... I need to consider both the potential gain, the demand... You know, it's actually quite difficult to set the right price..."
"White. Dream. Cauldron." Terrifying killing intent suddenly began to swirl inside the small hut: at its center were a pair of blue eyes, gleaming like the eyes of an angered beast.
Hearing his full name being called out, the white-haired young man shivered, immediately swallowing "Y-Yes, master Worker? Would... Would you prefer to have a share? I can give you twenty percent... Alright, alright, I'll be generous! Thirty at most! No? Thirty-five? Forty! That is as high as I will go!"
"I am going to give you ten seconds to spill out everything that you know about that door. Else... I've been wanting to refine this piece of Azure Spectres droppings... I was just needing a cauldron to do the job, are you up for it?" Although the hurricane retreated, the killing intent in the blue eyes increased even more.
Caul shivered and grew pale, even paler than he had been before. With his voice trembling and as he struggled to keep his mouth open he muttered "By droppings... You can't possibly mean..."
The blurry figure took out a dirty piece of cloth from empty air and waved it in the direction of the white-clad youth.
"After that guy conned me..." Worker started, sighing in regret.
"Is this still hypothetical?" Caul started but immediately shut up after seeing the other's eyes were burning with killing intent "Please, do go on!"
"After he conned me, I had to release my pent-up anger. Fortunately this small group of Azure Specters were close-by. Sure, it would have been much more pleasant if one of them hadn't shitted himself..." Worker looked up and waved the dirty cloth around.
Caul gulped and then asked, repressing the urge to vomit "Meaning... That thing you would want me to refine is..."
Worker nodded "Ghost Poop."
Barf!
The white-clad man couldn't hold it in anymore. With tears at the corners of his eyes, he looked behind him and saw Worker's eyes held a clear hint of amusement.
"You piece of shit! How dare you threaten me!" he yelled as he wiped his mouth with a piece of cloth.
"Mmm? No, no, no... THIS" he waved the dirty cloth around " Is the piece of shit I want you to refine, not me. Oh well, if you want, I have more... Sky Whale Intestines, Bearded Pterodactyl Piss... Even Cauldron Vomit!" He pointed at the ground.
Caul paled and he took a step back "Alright, alright I'll tell you everything you want to know! Just ask, and I'll tell you! Please, don't make me refine those things! That, that..."
"Ghost Poop, Sky Whale Intestines, Bearded Pterodactyl Piss... Even Cauldron Vomit!"
"Don't repeat it! I heard you pretty well the first time as you probably realised from the... The.."
"Cauldron Vomit?"
"..." The white-clad man mouth twitched "I hate you..."
"I know, it is quite the popular trend nowadays!"
"Just why would someone go around picking up those kind of stuff..."
"Oh? You mean this stuff that I am about to force you to refine wether you want it or not if you don't hurry up? The Ghost Poop, Sky Whale Intestines-"
"I already said I am going to help you, just shut up already!"
Seeing Caul's appearance, looking as if he had just been on the verge of being forced to eat some nasty stuff, Worker smirked. Oh yes, this was a good feeling. He should be the one to con people, not the one being conned!
'Damn Cheng Hao...' He smiled bitterly, crossing his arms as his eyes gleamed 'You bastard truly did a number on me... As to be expected from an Heavensborn, I guess?'
"Also, make it fifty percent. Otherwise, I will spread all those bad stuff about you I have without any reason other than to serve as comical relief!"
"..." Caul was on the verge of tears "Shut up. Please."
...
The white-haired youth sighed as he laid back on his chair "That is all I know... Now can you just get going already? I need to go back to work, due to a certain someone ruining all my stocks!"
"This might be bad..." Worker pondered out aloud "This might be REALLY bad" Below the cover of the magical blur, the blue-eyed figure clenched his teeth: from what the human-form White Dream Cauldron had told him, things might not be going as planned after all...
"Was I... Too rash?"

I am quite busy and write this during breaks at work. This is one of those goon-squad stories with a million characters, so "dizzying" might be a good way to describe the energy. Much of what builds up to the first arc happens in the first ten chapters, which are quite long. For that reason, if you have difficulty getting through the story, I understand, though things don't really start happening until Chapter 8-10.
