《The undead who yearned for life》59-Furious battle

In the end, it took a wave of hand from the Goddess and three days of playing to change the property of the soil forever in this little piece of Hell, but she'll now be able to exact my revenge in my stead.

When Azrael found out about the strategic video games and how they work, he was excited at its uses; he said that with the game, he would be able to experiment as many strategies as he wants without losing men, it would give him an advantage over every other being in this universe... from his speech I could already see him become the best general/strategist in all heavens.

I never tought that a simple game could have all those uses... but after some time and a very long explanation about all the races, I understood something: in this world wars are won with numbers, or so most people think.

Because of that, the few people who implement even a bit of strategy are assured to win, but because there are extremely few of those people in every generation, no one refined the art of war; if you then implement the fact that many different races exist in this world everything becomes even more complicated.

When I'll have the time and more informations about this world, I'll create a strategic game that will simulate every race, I'm sure it will be rather interesting.

Returning to Azrael... he lost more or less every time we played, he couldn't even win against the loli Goddess before I started teaching her some strategies; it was at that moment that his previous image as future strategist crumbled to pieces.

He couldn't even follow my strategy lessons, and even when I let him look at the results of my strategies, he wouldn't acknowledge them, something about them being deceptive, dishonorable, sly and a lot other insults.

For instance, I found out that there are things angels can never do, else they'll become part of a race known as devils, their hated enemies with which they're constantly at war.

It seem many things in my strategies contain elements that angels can't do... they should thank the heavens that no race is adept in the art of war, or they'd be the first race to be wiped out.

Or so I thought, but it seem that for every restriction there is a reason, and the reason for the angels is that every single one of them is frightening strong from very young, without some kind of restriction they could easily conquer the world... I don't know why, but I feel the Goddess had a hand in this.

Now I want to fight him even more, someone who's more or less at the peak of strength of a race famous for being one of the strongest; Azrael also told me he should be more or less on par with a high dragon in terms of fighting prowess.

I wonder which rank was the dragon I ate.

After the Goddess went away, I used a week in order to grow some trees thanks to my nature and earth control, and when I finished all the children could pick various fruits after writing a small prayer.

This way they'll never be hungry again and they can actually sleep in comfortable beds; I know there will be some children who shouldn't deserve it (I don't know why, but my mind wandered to royals and nobles' children), but they grew that way because of their parents, so they can't really be counted as very evil.

At least not under twelve/thirteen years old, then they should begin to understand what they're effectively doing.

In the end, I used two weeks to complete my promise; fortunately Azrael told me that because I passed all the time inside the garrison, I'll not be transferred to the next circle until I pass two whole weeks outside.

Well, the time came for Azrael to complete his oath, we decided that we would fight tomorrow in a place very far from cities... when I asked why he said something about collateral damage... did he think that we would do that much damage to our surroundings? The place he chose is five hundred kilometers from here.

And now we're here, far from everything and ready to fight; I equipped my (I should name it later) and Chaoseater, while Azrael cladded himself in a heavy armor and took out two gold heavy hammers that started to emit blue lightning in the moment they appeared.

I can already tell that this fight will be very difficult as we unleashed our auras at the same time. Wind picked up following our auras and in the point they collided red and gold sparks appeared pushing us apart.

------------------------------------------------------3rd person POV---------------------------------------------------

The moment the two auras hit each other, a booming sound could be heard for miles as both fighters disappeared from their places; they didn't use any skills, but the speed at which they both moved couldn't be seen with the naked eye, only people with a high combat prowess or a high level of kinetic vision could see the numerous clashes that happened in a second between Jack and Azrael.

Jack used Chaoseater to test the strength of his opponent by directly clashing with the two hammer with his full power, but the results were against him; Azrael simply repelled his full on attack with a swing of one hammer sending Jack across the forest and destroying a good deal of trees.

It should be known that the trees in Hell are not the same as the ones outside, they're made of solid stone which could compare with dragon's scales and being thrown like that would injure even a normal dragon.

-Ugh, that hurts- lamented Jack while getting back on his feet, he would never have expected to be repelled that much with only one hammer -but this only makes it more worthwhile-.

Jack immediately used elemental charge and blink togheter to make his way in Azrael direction, who prepared himself to defend; but at the last moment, when their weapons were to clash, Jack blinked one last time behind Azrael and swung Chaoseater.

*Clang*, Jack's greatsword hit the hadle of one of Azrael's hammers.

-Did you think that after seeing the way you charged at me, I wouldn't recognize the blink skill and not prepare some countermeasures?- smirked Azrael, though some sweat could be seen on his face... the timing was too perfect, had he not bet that Jack would blink one last time, he would've ended up completely open to attacks, however instinct could also be considered part of one's own combat prowess.

Without answering, Jack created earth spikes under his opponent and fire lances above him, he also added some wind blades in the mix then jumped back at the last moment, letting all the spells hit the angel.

An explosion erupted in the moment every spell hit Azrael, creating a screen of smoke, but Jack still didn't relax and invoked a tornado of flames that reached the sky in the point where Azrael should've been.

What Jack didn't expect was that from within the flames, a golden light erupted dispersing his spell and showing an unhurt angel inside of it "tch, light barrier or something similar" thought Jack before once again darting in Azrael's direction.

As Jack was nearing, Azrael barrier exploded outward hitting the undead with light magic, which heavily damaged him -Oh? So you still receive more damage from light based attacks, good to know-.

As he said that, Azrael wrapped his two hammers with light magic and speed up to reach Jack while the ground under him exploded because of the strength and speed of the Angel.

Seeing the angel nearing, Jack cladded Chaoseater in the dark element and activated the ki reinforcement skill; as the hammer descended on him, Jack avoided the blow by blinking behind Azrael, but the angel already expected it and with the other hammer was already on his way to the spot Jack would've appeared.

What Azrael couldn't image was that Jack counted on him being able to react that way. Jack avoided the second hammer by jumping above the angel while rotating his body, he also used the earth control to mess with the angel footholds.

In the moment the angel couldn't balance himself, Jack hit him with the strength of his own body centrifugal force, managing to make a gash in the angel heavy armor and displaying the superiority of Chaoseater as a weapon.

In the same moment, an explosion of light magic emerged from the angel body forcing Jack to defend with the gauntlet of the armor, but he was still damaged and sent thirty meters from his original position.

Without a pause the undead and the angel once again sprinted again each other, but as their weapons were abot to clash, Jack changed Chaoseater with the scythe Harvester, giving him a longer reach.

Azrael didn't expect it and suffered heavy damage from the scythe, but it only took him a few seconds and some light magic to compleately heal the injury; this grade of recovery normally wouldn't be possible, but because angels have a natural high recovery rate and are the ones nearer to the Goddess, healing magic works miracles on them.

The two fighters then began to clash with their weapons again and again with no one gaining the advantage, but if one attentively looked at the fight, he would be able to see Jack moves grow more and more refined and deadly as the fight went on.

As the one fighting him, Azrael could clearly feel this change in Jack's styleand decided to change strategy; in the beginning he hoped to restrain himself and slowly exhaust the undead, but that plan counted on the fact that Jack was weaker than him.

Looking at Chaoseater which could damage his own two hammers and at Jack growing more deadly and powerful by the seconds, the angel decided to unleash all his power.

After a last bout, both Jack and Azrael were greatly exausted and injuried, but no one was admitting defeat, the angel distanced himself from the undead and started to shine brightly; it was as if all the light essence released until now was converging to him.

In an explosion of light, ten golden wings (five per side) appeared behind the angel and Azrael literally disappeared, even Jack couldn't follow his speed.

From that moment on, a rain of attacks continued to hit Jack as he coul'd even see from where they came from or when they hit.

-You should surrender, when we arkangels unleash our wings, no one can follow our speed as it's the same as light, for this you can't even see me and can only receive my attacks... I'm already being generous that I didn't kill you with the first hit-.

Jack's mind was overworking, but he was certain of one thing: the angel lied. Every single attack after the angel unleashed his wings was made with magic, not once did he hit with the hammers; it can only mean that there would be some kind of backlash once the angel uses his own body to attack.

In the end, it was already a miracle that Azrael didn't die just from the air resistance at that speed, but if he was to also use his body to attack, Jack would die but even Azrael body would explode. In the end for at every action correspond an action with the same force but opposite to the first one.

Counting on this, Jack used his senses to the utmost to avoid the invible spells that were raining on him, hoping for Azrael's power up to have some kind of limitation.

The fight reached a standpoint for some minutes with Jack avoiding the rain of spells while being unable to attack the angel, this severely weakened both the fighters.

Jack also thought to use his leach skill, but against someone this powerful, it would be more or less useless.

When Azrael came out from the overpowered mode, he asked: -how did you know?-

Jack didn't lose time to answer and instead proposed: -We're both exhausted, there is no more time, the next attack will decide the winner of our duel-.

They both looked at each other and grinned, then they started to put every single remaining MP in their next move: Jack used Chaoseater and mixed every single element that he could use in it, while Azrael covered his two hammers with the most pure light.

Both weapons could be seen shining from the distance and the wind currents were strong enough to create tornados between the two of them; it was fate or coincidence that in that moment a single leaf could be seen gently floating with the wind in the middle of the battlefield?

As the leaf touched the ground, Jack and Azrael sprinted against each other for the final clash that would determine the winner of their crazy duel.

In all Hell that day the ground trembled and the wind roared, something that never happened before in the third circle of Hell.
