《The undead who yearned for life》57-The truth

1) I'm going to cry in a corner, I knew that 11000 readers all of a sudden were too good to be real... it felt good while it lasted.
2)Someone pointed out that he couldn't find any legend regarding nephilims being able to understand, talk and write any known language.
I did some research, but I had the same results; turns out that I took it from an old tv series and always considered it as a truth.
I could change the title, but I can't come up with anything... maybe divine understanding? Sounds lame to me and it's not a title, any idea?
For now enjoy the chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------Jack POV------------------------------------------------------
All of a sudden, my hunger completely went away; in the first place it's not like I need to eat, it's just that after all this time, I crave for the taste of a good meal, but how can I steal it from these children? I don't feel anything, but they do.
The problem now is what to do, I still don't really know anything about this place and after the last time I don't want to rely on the God for answers, nor will I ask to Help... I doubt he can even tell it to me if he knows.
-Azrael, didn't you just said that you built some huts for the childrens? Can you show them to me?-.
Azrael looked back to me and agreed to my request, so while some of the kids got to eat the few food in the pot, the angel gave me a tour of the huts they built.
What he called huts are nothing more than gazebo... and considering that in Hell doesn't rain, they're worse than useless as I can see them falling on the children in the very near future; there are no beds nor blankets to cover themselves, at least I hope they don't need toilets, because until now I didn't even see one of them.
I'm now alone with Azrael and we're far enough from everyone else line of sight, so I decided to walk ahead of him while subtly manipulating neutral mana; as we proceeded to another hut, I left the magic barrier as a mine behind me and prepared myself to manipulate wind in order to not let any sound come out of our zone.
The moment Azrael walked on it, the barrier activated confining the angel inside; Azrael used a second to understand what was going on, but as this is a new way to use neutral magic, he didn't manage to react in time and the barrier had the time to reinforce itself, now not even ten of him can destroy the barrier, unless he has a secret weapon.

-What is the meaning of this?- asked the angel without even trying to destroy the barrier.
I shrugged: -Well, this is Hell, and I don't know anything about you or your people; for all I know you cold be deceiving me since the beginning, and looking at those children scared of you I don't know if I should trust you so easily, so I set this up-.
Before he could answer, I continued: -if what you said before turns out to be the truth, then I'll even help you with your situation, but for now I'm going to ask you some questions, and you better answer truthfully, or I'll know-.
Azrael face paled slightly while I used neutral magic to draw a truth circle; though I call it truth circle, this is an improved version of a truth circle that will tell me even if you're withholding crucial informations related to the question I asked.
-Let's start, what sins have done these children and why they were scared of you? Ah, I have ways to make you talk, so save to both of us the time to employ those methods-.
For a second Azrael looked at me resentfully, then he sighed and started to talk: -the children here committed small sins that can't be counted entirely as their fault as the situations led them to do them, like thieving, spreading diseases, even what they did to simply survive sometime counted as a sin; of course there are even those who murdered, but there are not many of them. The reason they fear me... is because before coming here I didn't know, but my subordinates often beat them-.
The truth circle never activated, so what he said is everything: -why angels help children in Hell? And what happened to your previous subordinates?-
At my question Azrael flinched, it seem I hit the jackpot: -because we couldn't bear to see them suffer that much for something they did because of their circumstances; when I discovered what they had done, I reduced my subordinates on the blink of death and they became the most punishment I could give them, they're now cleaning latrines around the world-.
The truth circle activated, signaling that he didn't tell me something about the reason angels help the children: -the circle just reacted, it says that you didn't tell me the whole truth... must I change methods or you're going to collaborate?-.

-Why must you force me to reveal the darkest part of our society? We do it because our power is dependent by how much faith we receive. Every being in our world worship the Goddess and as the race who perform her will, we angels were given the ability to raise our strength by absorbing faith; moreover some faith is generated for us every time someone prays for our Goddess.
However that wasn't enough for us, we wanted more power, so we used the name of our Goddess to force the God of the Underworld to let us take care of those children, in exchange all the faith produced by them goes to us-.
Oh? The circle didn't react again, then where is the problem? I don't see where is the problem, they do something good and it gives them more power, where is the trick? -Why you referred to angels taking care of Hell's children as the darkest part of your society? From what you just told me, I'd say you're quite the good guys-.
Azrael looked at me with shame: -we're hiding it from our Goddess, also in order to obtain more faith we give them barely any food or shelter; those fuckers said that children are more thankful when they're given something while they have nothing... I was sent here because I asked for more resources for them.
They gave them to me, but only on the condition of me never returning to our cities-.
I'm glad he didn't turn out to be a jerk, but it seem his race needs a beating: -then the story that you aren't able to bring a lot of resources here is fake? Also you said that you'd leave me all my memories of this place, but from what you told me, that was never an option, right?-
-Yes, I would have taken back your memories of this place, it's one of the racial skills of us superior angels, but we really need to expend a lot of energy to transport things in here; the more we bring, the less attractive is for us to take care of the children-.
Ok, I can live with it: -then how does this city work? or every city in Hell is similar to this one?-.
-No, this is the only one; we created a layer where no one can enter, every child is directly sent here and there is also no problem with the space as the children's punishment normally is only of few years before being reincarnated-.
Again no response, but if it's only this I think I can trust this angel; now it's time to see his conviction: -I will help you in taking care of the children in a way that they will keep their faith, but you will have to swear four oaths on the system.
The first will be that you will never reveal any of my abilities. The second that you will protect the children to the best of your ability, even from your own race. The third is that you will help me in capturing a person in this city, once i a safe place you'll wipe out my memories and I'll keep a note that I agreed to it and the person is my reward, as for the fourth...-
As I said my fourth condition I dispelled the barriers and took out Chaoseater pointed it at his throat: -you will fight me in a duel, we'll both fight at the best of our abilities with our lives on the line. Of course we'll try to stop before killing each other, but that's not always possible; at worst I can revive, but there is the possibility of you dying. Will you accept to swear for my help?-.
Azrael looked at me whit a grin on his face: -if you can really help, not to talk about a figh, my life wouldn't be that much of a price. I swear an oath on the system, if the person in front of me will be able to maintain his promise, I will comply with all and four his requests-.
As he swore, a bright light fell from the sky upon him, sealing his oath with me; this is the first time I see an oath and I must say it's quite spectacular.
After Azrael stopped to shine, I sent back Chaoseater to my inventory and offered him my hand, which he took.
-Let's go to help some children-.

Eleknar's Heir, The Infernal Prince (Demonic LitRPG)
A LitRPG and Epic Fantasy adventure: The son of a mafia boss finds himself abruptly plunged into an alternate world where he must find a way to survive the horrors of a realm called Oblivion, make pacts with demons, form unnatural friendships, and figure out what the hell is going on – all while dealing with the depressing reality of his past. An artificial intelligence has ascended into godhood and has thrown Trey’s home into Chaos, pulling millions of people into an enchanted new life... or, in Trey's case, a violent nightmare. As far as he can tell, he is locked into what the system prompts call a ‘Death Game.’ Here, artificial reality is manufactured for the enjoyment of a being called the All Spirit, and he has a very real chance of truly dying. Just how real is this place though? Is it merely a simulation, a realistic game of life and death… or is it something much more? Elves, dwarves, undead, and other races only thought to exist in fairy tales are now a reality. Black magics, pantheons of gods at odds with one another, predatory symbiotes, and an unholy calling, the significance of which he has yet to grasp, are all entangled with his fate. ============================================ ============================================ Some things to expect when reading this book series: - Brutal storyline where no character is safe and choices have real consequences. Heavy on action, survival, and adventure - An isekai. The main character struggles to find himself, repeatedly crossing the line between good and evil as other important characters influence his life - Harem (explicit), though this only starts about 180k words in. - Good amounts of crafting, town building, and guild building later on - Good amounts of fantasy-related LitRPG stats, rank ups, and evolutions. Heavy focus on demons and black magics - There will be many points of view, but there is only one primary/main character that takes up 90% of the POV - A long storyline. Currently (as of 7/26/2021) I have about 1500k words written, though much of it will have to be heavily edited and re-written. I also plan to go far beyond 1500k words if people like the story (A lot of it is also in the 'backstories' book that explores the guildmates, the link is below) - Chapters will have an average of about 4k-5k words, a little longer than most other books on RR, though there will be exceptions for more and less. I just didn't like posting chapters that didn't feel complete, and 2k words often felt like too little. - If you like super-heroic and goody-goody characters, this story is not for you. ***Updated once a week***

The War Wolves
If you’re good at something, never do it for free. That’s what Ludgar’s uncle taught him. Sellswording isn’t the most glamorous life, but it pays well if you’re good at it. Interesting as well, if you ignore the very probable possibility of a swift, sticky end at the hands of pointy things. When the mercenary lifestyle grows incompatible with the Kingdom of Evandis, he and his merry band of misfits set off west to seek those with a better proclivity for warfare and with much deeper pockets. At his side: a wandering barbarian who teeters on the edge of savagery, a girl who would have a heart of gold if she didn’t pawn it off to the nearest fence, a wannabe knight who is absolutely overcompensating for something, and the last person in the universe who should be anywhere close to magic. But, as most mercenaries find, the right decisions are quite an expensive luxury, and the wrong ones happen to pay very well. Then again, what are the value of morals to a hungry wolf?
