------------------------Elise POV-----------------------

*ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

I think that when humans first discovered the lightning, they felt like this; in front of something that you can't comprehend no matter how much you think about it, you understand how small you are compared to the power of nature.

And what is coming toward us is exactly like that, something you can never hope to be equal to, with a force similar of a natural disaster and ready to kill us all indiscriminately.

During the dragon's roar, I could feel all the hope of surviving leaving me; that roar promised a fast death to the creatures foolish enough to anger its owner, and I highly doubt the dragon will be kind enough to ask who stole its egg.

What's more, together with the red dragon which covered the horizon, a horde of smaller dragons was following him, what will happen when they all hit the city, how much of will remain intact, if even some at all?

In that moment, while looking at my death coming, I only had a regret: if only had I killed all the royals as I wanted to do so badly instead of restricting myself...

----------------------------------King POV----------------------------------

So it happened, I knew my sons would try to kill me one way or another, but never did I expect them to bring back the calamity in our land; only each king knows the real purpose of the imperial capital: to keep out the dragons of our lands, or so it's written in the ancient code.

The ancient code: a library hidden deep under the imperial palace which only each king knows about; the crown that is only used in the day of the incoronation will transfer the position of the library to the one who becomes king.

When the king will go in the library, the secrets of the ancient dragoneers will be revealed to him; they contains an extensive knowledge on dragons and how to train to defeat them, but also the ancient pact: no dragons will come out of the dragon's valley unless provoked.

At that ancient time, all the races had banded together and powerful warriors from every race were ready to die in order to free us from the dragons' rule.

After many bloody battles, the dragons understood that if they continued like that they'd face extinction, as the warriors from the other races kept coming generation after generation, while they were only diminishing in numbers.

So they sweared an oath on the system for the entire race: they would stay in the dragon's valley and never come out unless provoked, and the other races would not chase them.

No one wanted to die, and without that agreement, entire generations of warriors would be needed to chase the dragons, so the various races accepted their oath and let them go.

However, each race tramanded their knowledge in some way, as they feared the dragons would come back to attack us after finding a loop in their own oath... they never did.

Because of that, along with the millenia, each race weakened considerably without the fear of something greater than them, and as common knowledge became legend, people started to think of them as only stories to scare childs.

I don't know why an egg of the most powerful race of dragons, the ancient dragons, was on the border; but by taking it in our city, we broke the ancient code, so the father and the mother of the egg were able to come here without repercussions from the system.

I know I am not his opponent, but still I must fight in order to save as many people as possible, this is my duty as a king and what I vowed to do the day I took the throne.

I cladded myself in the ancient armor, after that I took the ancient dragoneer sword and looked at the ancient dragon while trembling, at least I'll go down with style.

Only two minutes after that dragon's roar, a powerful aura emerged from the palace, it wasn't as big as the one of the dragon, but it allowed me to breathe again. Since the moment the red dragon appeared in the horizon, I could not even breathe, and now that he's coming near, the only feeling that remained inside myself is fear.

As the source of the aura soared in the skies, a tear came out of my eyes... I wonder why, thanks to my sight I could see the person from which the aura originates and I don't know him.

At my side, my mother started to cry without restrain: -look my daughters, the person who will fight and die for us is none other than your father-.

Eise and Me: -WHAT?- maybe crying is the right thing to do here, if only my brother was here he would... no, even for him it would be too much, I can feel his power thanks to my skill and it's nowhere near the one of the dragon, but at least he would have some ideas to resolve the situation.

If only I could summon him... ? I can't summon him ì, but can't I summon something to fight the dragon? However, would something as powerful as that dragon fight for me? I wouldn't be able to control someone that powerful.

-Big sister... if I had a plan to deal with the dragon that could or could not destroy us all, what should I do? I think that we have some chances to escape from the imperial city, but with my plan, we would give up them all-.

Elise: -tell me about it-.

---------------------------------Eric POV-------------------------------------

-You two want me to find all the mages loyal to me and gather them? For what? It's not like we can fight that monster in the sky-.

My sisters came to me asking for all my loyal mages, the ones who will not talk about what they'll see or do with them, it's not like I can't gather them, but what woul be the use of it? The moment I saw that dragon in the sky I knew we were going to die, struggling will only cause it to be more painful.

Elise looked at me with the same glare she reserved to my brothers: -our father went to fight that dragon face on, he went to die for us and you're whining? Didn't you want to become a king? Pathetic-.

Am I really? Isn't it natural to lose all hope in front of that? -If you lost all the hope, then why don't you help us? Best case scenario, we kill the dragon; worst case scenario, all of us die- said Julie.

It actually make sense, if we're going to die either way, then why not fight until the end? -come with me, I already did some preparation on my own, but I never expected that such a powerful dragon would come-.

-Let's go, our father is buying us time, but he will not last too much time- (Elise).

--------------------------------Elise POV----------------------------------

Julie seated herself in the middle of a magic circle on the roof of the palace, while one hundred mages are all around her ready to supply mana to the magic circle.

My task is to keep the all safe, they will need three minutes to use the summoning magic and because of the quantity of mana involved in the magic, wyverns and lesser dragons will be attracted to us; fortunately mother is here with her bow, at least I'll have some cover.

I should ready myself for my first battle ever, and it will be against dragons.
