Note from the author: I know I said that this would be the last side chapter, but I couldn't fit everything in there.

I know I did something unforgivable (you'll know what at the end of the chapter) that deserves a death sentence.

Fortunately none of you know my address XD XD XD.

Enjoy the chapter.

---------------------Somewhere, a long time ago, in the dragon's valley-----------------------

A red dragon is flying at his fastest speed to reach a cavern, once there, he abruptly stop itself from entering: -Faras, are you in there?- it wasn't like the dragon didn't know that his wife was in there, but he wanted to let her know that it was him and not someone else.

-Yes dear, I just finished the laying of the egg, come here-.

Guilt appeared on the face of the male red dragon, as he could not be there when his wife needed him the most, and now that she was weak, they could only escape because the enemy dragon clan was on their tail.

hey were too far from their clan and after laying the egg the green dragoness was too weak to fly, she could only be transported by the male dragon, greatly reducing their speed, a miracle would be needed to escape the enemy.

Adding the fact that they would need to slow their speed even more in order to not damage the egg, the probability of them being able to escape is 0.

And they both know it.

-It will be a bet, we should leave our egg to a lesser dragon couple, we'll make them take an oath in the name of the system that they will take care of it for us, in exchange we will promise them a place in our clan in the case that when we come back to take the egg, the egg is still safe- said the dragoness.

Faras could see the unwillingness on his husband face, their only children was going to be abandoned with someone else, and they didn't even know if they could make it back; -but we are on the border of the valley, there is the possibility that lesser races will come- argued the red dragon.

-Oh dear, lesser races don't come in the valley since millennia ago, we'll also change the color of the egg, ok?-.

They didn't have any other choice, and the red dragon knew it: -it's hilarious, the child of two ancient dragons will be left with lesser dragons; I'll leave on him two spells: one to know the status of the egg and one to know where the egg is-.

And so the two ancient dragons departed from the border after leaving their egg behind in the lair of a couple of two lesser dragons.

Their journey was not easy and while cheating death multiple times, the two dragons managed to reach their clan territory, where they would need to recover from their injuries in order to once again go back to retrieve the their egg.

----------------------------The palace 15 days before the disaster----------------------

In the adventurer guild a new request appeared, they would need to accompany three royals in the dragon's valley, where no human went in the last centuries; the request implied that they would steal some eggs from the dragons that will become the royal's pets, though it was written as:

Many S and A rank adventures flocked in the capital attired by the huge reward offered by the royals, and in practically no time, a team raid was formed.

The other royals soon found out and decided to tag along with the party to obtain their egg; only three royals remained in the palace: the 11th prince and the two halfling princesses.

---------------------------------Elise POV---------------------------------

Because no one remained in the palace, we met with Eric to discuss about our relative's choice to go hunting dragon's eggs: -do you think they will succeed?- I asked to Eric.

-The probability of them returning is quite high, I hope some of them will die in the wilderness, but after taking a look at their party, I'd bet on them returning-.

At that moment Julie asked something strange: -ne, ne, do you think they will bring back dragon's eggs? In how much time will they come back?-.

After some reasoning, I answered back: -I don't think they will be able to bring back real dragon's eggs, and if they're slow, they'll come back in five days at most-.

-Eh? why do you think so?- Eric looked at me with two question marks in the place of eyes... how much does he thirst knowledge? Does he fear that they will bring back those eggs?

-Well, if I was a powerful dragon, I wouldn't live in the outskirt of the valley near the border, I'd live in the middle of it; in the outskirt there are probably wyverns and at most lesser dragons; from what Julie told me, ten A rank adventurers should be enough to handle a wyvern, while lesser dragons are already tens of times more powerful than wyverns, once they see them, many adventurers should refuse to attack them-.

At my words Eric striked a thinking posture, it's quite funny to see, the he looked at me: -you're probably right, but you underestimate the power of greed, money and human's idiocy, if they find a lesser dragon, I'd bet our sisters and brothers will double the rewards and they will attack-.

As Julie heard our exchange, she smiled at us saying: -then we only need to wait and see, maybe they will never return-.

----------------------------------6 days before the calamity, Elise POV------------------------------

Today our siblings returned from the dragon's valley, they are four days late from our prediction, so I used my stealth ability and went to see their conditions and what they bringed back, I'm also sharing my senses with Julie, so she can see and hear the same things I do.

From their attire you can see that they got in quite the difficult situation, and their party is more than halved, if my memory doesn't betray me, less than a quarter of the adventurers that went with them came back, it seems that Eric's prediction was correct.

Eggs are being taken inside the palace by the servants, there are many different eggs; some are quite little (only one meter large), others are of a normal size for lesser dragons (five meters large) and one is several times bigger (reaching the fifteen meters), I have a bad feeling about the last egg.

Eric is currently yelling to our oldest brother: -Do you have a brain? Or everything you have inside your head is water? The body of the lesser dragons that you guys fought is only twenty five meters in length, how could they lay an egg this big?-.

1st prince: -and what do you know? You were not with us fighting that dragon, and even if you were, why we shouldn't have bringed back the biggest reward? Brother, wy are you spouting nonsense in front of me? We are the best race in this world, what are some dragons to us if not pets?-

Eric: -you fought with only two dragons and some wyverns and lost 3/4 of your men, how are you superior to dragons? Not only that, the egg you bringed back is way too big to be of the same as the lesser dragons you killed, what will you do if the parents will come to retrieve it?-.

1st price: -you're worrying too much brother, I already endured you yelling at me and insulting me, now get out of the way before I order the guards to behead you-.

At those words, Eric could only move aside and shut up, I know he understands that it's already too late to do anything; even if we were to bring back the egg, would a dragon forgive the ones who stole his egg? We can only hope the parents of this egg are already dead or that they will never know who took their egg.

As all my siblings entered thir wings of the palace, I went back to my sister... hopefully we're worrying for nothing as the idiot said.

------------------------------2 days before the calamity, Elise POV----------------------------------

A strange silence fell upon the kingdom, like if something is coming; no one know if something is effectively coming, but the sense of foreboding can be felt in the air and everyone is easily irritable.

I think we should prepare, better safe than sorry, I'm going to talk about it with Julie and Eric.

----------------------------The day of the calamity, Elise POV-------------------------------

Today I couldn't even sleep, the only one who was able to do it was my sister; not even my mother could relax.

It was at this moment that we sensed it; in the direction of the dragon's valley something appeared, then our eyes managed to spot something: a pair of wings stretched along the horizon, it was enough to cover the light of the sunrise.

With it, waves of wyverns and lesser dragons were coming our way, the only sound we could hear was the one being done by their wings as they came towards us.

Then the big red dragon opened his mouth and every other sound disappeared.

*ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*

And so, the day that will be known as the day of the calamity in the history books began.
