《The undead who yearned for life》36-The might of water magic

With this I covered ninety percent of the affinities, only the wind affinity remains, and I have it covered thanks to he God; I would never have expected him to hate losing, but I think it resembles his outward appearance better than how he normally behaves.
Normally I would train my water affinity in my world for some time, but this time I'm making an exception; skeleton don't fear cold, but it seems that high temperatures are our archenemy, and this environment is everything but cold, so I'm going to use my newly found water magic to keep myself fresh.
This reason is also the reason for which I asked for the water affinity and not the wind affinity as I had planned, I only hope to be able to avoid the lapillis, else I'm sure to be killed by it, no matter how high my stamina stat is.
While searching for the ruby, enemies keep coming; in the beginning it was only normal zombies, ghosts and skeletons, but after some time, their evolutions started appearing: mutated or combination zombies, wraiths, revenants, wights, armored or magic skeletons.
Hell, there are even flaming mutated zombies.
The most dangerous are the mutated zombies, they're of different races and have different mutation, so other than numbers, they also have noticeable variations that are a pain to deal with.
Obviously, because I'm quite a few evolutions higher than them, I'm not getting that much experience, if I'm lucky I get 0.01% with a undead for this area, but for most of them I'm obtaining 0.001%, so I don't really need to bother with them; problem is, they're swarming me.
I don't know why, but they're not fighting each other, since I showed myself they stopped whatever they were doing and started to chase after me; maybe they feel that I'm stronger than all of them and because of that their instinct is making them use swarm tactics to bring me down... though because I'm of the skeleton race, I could kill them for an eternity and not be tired.
This being said, I still spent days killing them; I need to search for a ruby inside a circle full of volcanoes with a max sight of twenty meters and they continue to swarm me. For sure they will feel my wrath. The only thing I regret, is not having a large greatsword to mow them all down fast.
Now I can understand why MCs in novels go to kill something when something irritates them; it's a great way to relieve stress.

Oh? I killed that many undeads? Time really flies when you have fun, but I should start to really look for the ruby, else I will pass an eternity in here... should I ask for the Earth Goddess' help?
Nah, I shouldn't disturb her, let's see if Help can give me some directions: "Help, do you have a moment?"
H.E.I_.P.Nope
"Sure you have, can you tell me where to find a fucking ruby in this layer? With my level of sight, it's going to take forever".
H.E.I_.P.Bah, and why should it matter to me? For all I care you could... are you by chance searching for a ruby in the 6th layer?
Why do I feel I shouldn't answer him? But do I have a choice? Damn. "Yes, I need a ruby to power up the teleportation circle, what about it?".
H.E.I_.P.Eeeeeeh, you could have said it at the beginning, no need to make me lose time, I have planned so many ways in order to be able to ki- help you, and this is one of them. The ruby you're searching for is fifty kilometers nord-ovest from your position.
"Mmm... should I really trust you? Why do I feel like you're planning something?".
H.E.I_.P.Ehi, you're offending me by doubting so much; I have put my soul into searching for ways to ease your path and now you're accusing me. My word is not enough for you? Then I promise in name of the system that if you go there within the next twentyfour hours, you can find a ruby needed to power up the teleportation circle.
An oath sweared on the system has been made. Whoever dares to break it must be prepared to be erased from the system and be killed by the Gods.
"This... it seems that you're not lying, sorry for doubting you".
H.E.I_.P.Of course I was not lying, now don't disturb me anymore, unfaithful bastard
Well, I discovered another part of the system, this will be useful later on, for now let's follow the direction tha Help told me about.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used four hours to reach this place in the middle of four volcanoes, but it was worth it; In front of me there is the biggest ruby I have ever seen. It's big enough to be used as a throne after being properly engraved, and there is still room to spare... must I really use it to power up the teleportation circle?

This pains my hearth so much, but I don't have alternatives, for now let's bring it in my world, then I can calmly think abou-
*WWWOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHH* the ruby started to emit a strange sound and to flash.
It is in this kind of moments that you start to think: did I really believe that fucker again? Why did I believe him? Because of a stupid oath? Why didn't I trust my judgement?
In a word, FUCK.
With the ruby at the centre, a giant started to appear from the ground. In a matter of seconds the big ruby became the head of a giant entirely made of the precious mineral, and as if that wasn't enough, flames started to burn in the entirety of his body.
Did I say I'm weak to fire? Because I'm sure I did, so why I'm now fighting with a three meter flaming ruby giant? Ah, and why can't he use sword? I mean who wouldn't think a rock is able to use a sword bigger than it? It's common sense here, can something go worse?
The answer? Of course yes, with each step, the ground get melted into lava and walls made out of ruby have appeared between the volcanoes, eliminating my B plan: escape.
In the end I have to fight, let's first try a long distance approach.
---------------------------3rd person POV-----------------------
Jack started using long range magic based attacks, but the giant repelled them without as much as a scratch; the earth attacks simply got melted, the lightning based ones got discharged in the ground, the dark and spatial magic ones had some effects and managed to scratch the giant. Jack also tried to send a water ball at the giant, but the water completely evaporated at one meter from the giant.
As jack finished his magic attacks, the giant swinged his greatsword in Jack's direction as fast as lightning, but missed in the moment Jack used the skill Ki-reinforcement. Taking advantage of this situation, Jack covered his whole body in a water shield, and charged at the giant with a halberd.
Just by being in the two meters range from the giant, the water shield started to evaporate, but Jack didn't stop, after entering the one meter range, the skeleton trusted his halberd in one of the eyes of the giant... without result.
Jack had just the time to take back the halberd, that a flaming hand bashed him against the wall of a volcano, immediately followed by the flaming sword that the giant thrown.
The sword penetrated the part of the volcano above jack, creating a waterfall of magma.
Using Elemental cloak with the lightning effect and Elemental charge together, Jack managed to barely avoid the magma waterfall, but one could see the damage done to both his clothes and his bones, now both charred black.
"Damn it, one blow and a quarter of my life is shaved, and that was a weak blow, if he manages to hit me at full power, not even bones will be left of me" reasoned Jack.
The skeleton throwed his now useless weapon at the giant, hoping to distract it, but the giant didn't even give him a look, instead retrieved his sword. As the giant retrieved his sword, the magma flowing in the area doubled, in four minutes, Jack wouldn't even have where to put his feet.
The giant looked at the skeleton and stayed motionless, as he understood that even without him needing to do anything, Jack would die in a short while.
Both Jack and the giant clearly understood this point, and because Jack's life didn't go down past a quarter of his total HP, he couldn't even use the Instinctual combat skill. It was at this point that Jack remembered that water if pressurized enough could easily cut stones.
As he remembered it, a giant sphere of water appeared in the sky, but how could Jack compress it? The answer once again came from his memory: if people in novels could use auras to pressure other people, then couldn't he use mana to compress the water?
In a moment, Jack's entire mana pool emptied while the water sphere shrinked continuously, but the giant didn't move, as if looking at something esilarating: "someone really wants to kill me with water? What an id**t".
An entire minute passed, ad the water sphere was now only a ten centimeters radius from the over initial twenty meters, so Jack released the part of his aura covering the direction of the giant.
In a second, the water divided the ruby giant in two as butter, the face of the ruby giant was still one of mocking even after his sudden death, like if nothing happened.

Crimson Gloom

Half a century of relatively uneventful years passed… humanity slowly descended into corruption, and the majority of them knew nothing of the effects of the Crimson Abyss. Is there only the dreadful gloom left to the world? Can one find brightness in the increasingly gloomy world? The youth who had gazed into the Crimson Abyss had no answer, nor did he care. He only wanted the Crimson Gloom to end, to forever seal the Crimson Abyss. A mistake and a twist of fate led the youth into a seemingly totally different direction. Will he forget his lifelong goal? Will he instead step back onto his initial path that he fervently pursued? Disclaimer: I do not own the image on the cover. Image edited on canva.com.
