《The undead who yearned for life》27-The manor

By staying here, nothing will come out of it, the only way to go is to enter the manor... let's first try to knock at the door.

*knock* *knock*

Well, it seems that no one is at home and I doubt that maids or butlers will appear, moreover I fully intend to find the object that is keeping the undeads at bay.

The moment I push the door inwards, a sense of danger pervades me, guided by my senses I pull the door as fast as I can, slamming it close; not even a second later a blade pierce the wood of the door, which stop it just before it reaches my forehead.

That was... dangerous, to say the least; some more centimeters and my head would have gained another hole. I knew there could be traps, but not at the front door; who in their right mind would put a trap in their front door? Not even I did it.

Opening the door again, I can see that the trap mechanism is going back in its place thanks to some kind of timer made up of gears, it will wait for the next undead, for now I enter in the manor before it can reset itself.

The inside of the manor is quite finely furnished... if it wasn't for the Trap mastery skill that kicked in showing that the room is full of traps, I would be tempted to believe it as secure.

The owner of this manor probably wanted to keep every kind of form of life out of here; the thing that keeps the undeads at bay must also have the same effect, if not no matter how many traps there are, they would all eventually fail to stop them.

This also means that the owner of this luxurious manor wants to keep something inside here safe to the point of creating a , and if someone who can build this thing used it just to protect something, then that something must me really precious; if I'm able to find it, I'll most likely hit the jackpot.

Nevertheless I first need to be able to avoid all those traps, and looking at them it's not going to be easy; they're not positioned in a way that gives you the possibility of avoiding them, disarm them or prove yourself; they're there to kill you for sure, some even benefit from each other.

In truth I could've come up with better traps, but here I am the thief trying to steal the treasure, not the creator. For now I should concentrate myself in going to the place from where this feeling is coming, then if I take it out the horde of undeads will do the rest and I'll have an easy time in finding the treasure.

In order to overcome all the traps, I can only think about two methods: the first is by using my danger sense, body prowess and other skills, stealthily making my way down; the second one is by using earth and nature magic to bulldoze through the manor, which will probably set off even more traps.

Well, I don't think I should bulldoze through with magic, because if this is the lowest dungeon-like place, then I fear the higher ones, so it's better to get as much experience as possible here, hopefully without dying... if worse comes to worst, I'll use magic here and there, but for now this will do as a training for my Stealth skill.

What followed my decision were a lot of near death experiences, the traps didn't permit a single mistake, and even with all my senses alert, some traps seemed to appear out of nothing, forcing me to use earth magic more than I would have liked.

When I was building my castle, I had fun imaginating the ones who would have tried to enter in it, but now that I'm on the receiving end... things like the two walls that are slowly pushed against each other with you in the middle, the classic rolling rock in the stairs (even though I couldn't feel or find it, I knew it was there) or the room where traps are always active (http://imgur.com/FYvDXkp) are not that funny, maybe I should find other hobbies (though thanks to them I received the skill Summon home).

If this is the lowest level of phisical fitness and capability of adventures, then I really need to become a lot stronger before I'm able to find my sister and Elise... I wonder how they're called now, I mantained my name for convenience, but now that I'm in another world... should I change it?

While I was wondering on useless things, I heard another *click* under my feet; a guillotine came down from the ceiling, I had just the time to avoid it by an inch by rolling in front of me.

*Click*

Fuck, the floor opened and in the hole there were enough spikes to kill whatever fell in it, I saved myself by using the part of the floor that still hadn't completely opened in order to jump back, just in time for the previous guillotine to try to kill me again.

I know that my skin is as hard as steel by now, but the traps aren't made out of steel, but mithril, and from the Earth goddess' information, mithril is simply silver which accumulated mana, and silver is one of the most deadly metal to undeads, add it to mana and if that guillotine touches me, it will rip me apart.

I use earth magic to stop the blade from cleaving me in half, then I safely restart my journey in the manor; as I near the object that is keeping the undeads at bay, the traps continued to grow in difficulty; it seems that the creator had my same idea, so he used more advanced traps the more I near it.

When I at last arrive in front of the last door, the feeling of danger is overflowing, I hope that once I grab that thing, this feeling will go away and I will be able to control it.

As I open the last door, what I find inside it leave me speechless... maybe I shouldn't have come here, the only thing inside here is a coffin, it would be good if there is a treasure inside it or some remains, that is what you would usually think on the surface, but this is Hell, a place for undeads, and there is only one kind of undeads who I know uses coffins.

???: -Oh, I was wondering who was able to enter in my manor and not die from the traps, turns out it's a lowly ghoul... interesting-, the coffin is slowly being opened, it seems that the thing that kept the undeads at bay wasn't an object.

It was the owner!!!!!!
