《Frau NoSur》Chapter 8: The Meeting and Departure

Every single recruit and some knights are now inside the grand hall. It’s been an hour since the summon and most of the recruits are starting to complain. Right now I’m leaning against a wall patiently waiting and doing some kind of observation among the crowd.
Most recruits are male and only a few were female which the same with the knights, before it’s uncommon for female’s to hold a weapon and fight but because of harsh history females began to take up arms to protect their loved ones. Some even became a legend which led different armies to their glory.
I looked at the crowd and noticed that most of the men and female here are muscularly built which master says that they mostly rely on their brute strength on the other hand those who have less strength relies on technique to defeat the strength type and sometimes called the defensive type.
Which means this army will be composed of offensive types rather than defence which is good since the purpose is to eliminate the supposed threats but if it’s defending against the foe that might be another story. That leads to us being the meat shields if ever something goes wrong.
The door on of the great hall suddenly open and Sir Sherwin Oswald together with some other knights walked in the center. A fierce killing intent enveloped the entire hall that makes everyone felt silent, it came from Sherwin himself. They walked towards the podium in front and Oswald began his speech.
“Ladies and gentlemen, as of today you are informed that the purpose of the recruitment is because of the upcoming war” he paused “This is not a lie but all of you did not know why or what it really happening. This very moment after this I expect you all to get ready as you will depart early in the morning towards the west to aid a certain kingdom called Sogust. From the report I received they are on defense against the enemy and might fall soon. The role of this army is to help the kingdom and annihilate the threats if possible. The enemies’ number is not mentioned but my guess is it’s about two to four thousands. Of course your numbers only range up to five hundred but fear not there will also be other kingdoms that will send some reinforcements”
“What about the payment?” someone asked
“That will be four gold coins on each of you if you ever returned alive”
The crowd began to talk to each other since four gold coins are considered a huge amount among us.
“SILENCE” a knight shouted
“Sir Are you going to lead us?”
“Unfortunately I am unable to go due to some other request I received directly from the council”

Then he called a knight to step forward among those who came with him.
“This is Sir Jerome Unera and he will be your commanding officer for this mission. I expect some of you already know who he Is because of his reputation. Now the enemy you are facing are strong and probably the strongest army you might encounter. But I believe in every single one of you since you passed the test, survive and come back alive this will be a part of my order to you people. This mission is dangerous I know but you are free to back out and no one will blame you. Now any other questions regarding the mission?”
“What kind of enemy are we facing here?” someone asked
“it will be revealed to you soon but trust me you will experience your greatest nightmares on the battle field so any one is free to go if you value your lives. Now any other questions?”
Everyone is silent; maybe because of those last words he said ‘your greatest nightmares’ but for the man who brought me here to be my commanding officer I won’t deny my excitement.
“I see there is none, good now you are all dismissed. Be here early in the morning”
The crowd began to move and left the hall; I remained and waited for an opportunity to talk to Jerome.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you again Sir Jerome” I said
“And who might you be”
“I’m the kid you saved from a bandit incident ten years ago”
“Ten years ago? Hmm ten years ago”
“The village which is burned to the ground when you arrived and killed the bandits”
“OOOH I remember now” he then looked at me as if inspecting me physically
“I’m glad you did Sir, I’m here to express my gratitude towards the man who gave me a chance to live again”
“You don’t have to thank me, if anything I must apologize for not arriving earlier to save your village”
“No Sir, I understand that you came a long way to aid us but luck wasn’t on our side and that happened”
“I see you already recovered from that incident but quite foolish, you being here meaning you enlisted to be part of the war instead of being a trainee. I understand you are quite young and still reckless but joining this war is asking for death”
“I understand the danger Sir and I will be responsible for my own actions”
“Do as you like but don’t say I dint warn you”
“Thank you very much sir”
I bow down to him as he leaves
I got back to my room; it seems that the three idiots are not here, they may be off to a not so good journey but who cares anyway, as long as they don’t bother me I don’t care what ever they do.

I packed my things and check if everything is in order, then I sat on my bed and start to meditate.
Several hours passed which I never felt due to meditation. The door opened which caused me to stop and put up my guard.
*Pfft*
I almost laughed
It was the three idiots. But right now all of them are wet and each of them has a purple round color on one of their eyes.
“Please don’t laugh at our misfortune” one of them said with a weak voice
“So where did you go? Judging from what I can see you guys had quite some adventure”
“Yeah we did, it was really great before something flew at us, hit our face then a bucket full of hot water dropped at us”
“So you guys finally got caught”
“Please don’t say it as if where some kind of criminals”
“Well sneaking on the female baths to peek is considered a crime though”
The idiots tried to sneak on to the female baths again but I guess this time they finally got what they deserved although from my point of view it wasn't enough.
Night came and we head towards the dining hall. Fierce stares and killing intent are thrown towards us, I guess it’s to be expected from what these idiots did.
As we walked along the tables and towards the food a group of guys called us.
“Hey I heard your little adventure. So how is it?”
“Yeah come here and tell us the full details” said the other one in their group
I ignored them but the trio did not, they joined them and as for me I head towards the empty table on a corner and start to eat. I can hear some laughter on the table with the trio and some other groups joined in. Of course all of them where male, probably interested on what those trio had experienced.
“So it seems that one of the perverts escaped from the traps we set” a female sat in front of me and start talking. But I ignored her
“Can’t say anything after being caught?” she said trying to insult me but again I continue to eat and ignore her.
“Hey at least look at me, no rather can’t you say anything about what have you done?” still ignoring her, GOD can’t this B**CH shut up she’s makes my food tastes bad.
“I guess a guilty criminal can’t even deny anything after being caught”
‘ok that’s it I had enough, why do this B**CH always ruin my mood’
“Ms. Beatrice with all honesty, can’t you leave me alone? For god’s sake you always ruin my mood while I’m eating. Could it be that you want my share? Don’t you have plenty enough? If you eat too much you will get fat”
“WHA- What’s with you, you you you rude pervert”
“First of all I’m not with them on their adventures. We might have the same room but that doesn't mean that I do what they do”
“A criminal denying his act after being caught eh? Why don’t you just admit you’re with them?”
“Ms. Beatrice even if you investigate this incident further you will only prove that I’m innocent and”
“AND?”
“It made me really curious, you keep bugging me as if to have my attention. Sorry but I’m not interested in older women enough to be my mother”
“WHAT DID YOU SAY? I’m only on my twenties and definitely too young to be your mother AND IM NOT IN THE SLIGHTES BIT INTERESTED WITH YOU YOU F***ING JERK”
She said while her face is beet red fuming with embarrassment and anger.
“Is that so? Then if that’s the case its better if you just ignore me. I don’t want rumors to spread that I’m into old women”
“FOR THE SECOND TIME IM NOT THAT OLD”
“I don’t really care about your age or anything about you, so do me a favor and let me be”
The trio are still having their time with the group of men while telling their adventures.
While Beatrice keeps nagging at me I left her and head towards my room.
Morning came and the trio is still sleeping. I took a bucket of cold water and splash it to them, they woke up and fall on their beds yelling ‘Sorry please forgive us we won’t do it again’ ‘Pleas spare us’.
‘huh? What exactly happen to these idiots?’ I thought
“Hey wake up its time for us to depart”
The trio finally snap out of it and began to stand up. The tree of them looking at each other and looking around the room.
“So? I don’t care if you guys won’t make it in time and be left behind but Its annoying to answer the questions of those superiors if they only see me”
“so-sorry we will get ourselves ready”
They change their clothes and we head towards the meeting place.
“People we will start our march towards the west, if any of you can’t keep up we will leave you behind because you will only become a burden and I don’t want any weakling on my army” Jerome said while facing us all. A knight came closer to him whispering something to him.
“Alright it seems that it’s time to depart, May the gods Smile and give their blessings on each one of you”
Now this is the start of our journey towards my fight war campaign and with the mission at hand I must not fail.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
