《Path of Damnation》Day 30: The Dwarves move

Day 30

How much longer must we tolerate their presence.

They invade our great city.

They kill our kind.

They defile the dead.

And yet we do not fight with the full might of our military.

Father refuses to move our great military against this pathetic infection.

Why I do not understand.

All we need to do is open the Stone Gates of the Elders and crush their army outside with our own.

But father refuses to do that.

He calls me young and foolish.

What does he know?

He’s gone senile in age and doesn’t understand the greatness of my plan.

I will try to convince him once more today and should that fail, I will take things into my own hands.

I will annihilate the enemy.

I will then seal then breach and move on towards their homes and completely crush them.

They will not stand a chance.

Not one little chance.

As I began to laugh at my genius, I heard one of my comrades’ whisper towards me.

I turned around to see who it was, and saw my stout friend Jargon Giantdwarf.

The largest dwarf I ever knew. Standing at a staggering 6ft, compared to the slightly tall I at 4’6”, he was something that only appeared once every several years.

He had leaned close to whisper towards me.

Jargon: “My prince Volkain, you should keep your laughter inside of you. We are heading to meet your father, and if he thinks you are not serious in your belief, he may yet once again reject your plan” he whispered once he had neared me.

What a kind and compassionate friend I have.

Being happy aside, I looked up at him and patted him on the shoulder.

Volkain: “Worry not Jargon” I said wiping away my grin “Today is the day we convince my father that we are right” my face turned grim “We will do so with words, or with force” as I said this; I looked Jargon over once before I turned to look towards the rest of my comrades.

Jargon Bloodhammer, son of Ulthur Bloodhammer, the lord of Dhalfarum’s military. My friend is the second biggest dwarf to ever be recorded, is 6ft, he was big and bulky, looking like an immovable wall which he certainly was. One of my two closest friends, I’d kill another man without question for him.

Rogi Trollhammer, son of Rongun Trollhammer, one of the great Stone lords. He looked Just as his father did in his youth, a stout dwarf standing at 4’8” with his trusty axe on his shoulder. He’s been my closest friend along with Jargon since my childhood. I’d trust both of them with my lives.

Immlo Quartzhand, son of Elin Quartzhand, the richest dwarf in all of Dhalfarum. Like his surname states, they were miners, and rich ones at that. He was the one who payed for our entire groups gear. Even though we came from noble families, most of us would never convince our parents to buy us ‘Dwargo’ class gear. He was a short and fickle dwarf, but a good comrade nonetheless.

The rest of my group, Rello Mountaincarver, Grudar Orcsmasher, Banin Goblinbane, Baz steelheart and Rasag Bronzeskin were all armed and ready.

Their expressions ranged from grim to excited, all of them hoping my father would agree with me.

But we all knew what he had to do should my father disagree.

We either routed the invading trash with my father’s blessing, or we did it without.

Nothing would stop us.

I nodded to them all and turned around, continuing my miniature march across the stone halls of the palace.

We moved in silence, only our armours clinking and the occasional salute by the guards accompanied our silence.

We reached the great doors of the Halls of Stone.

Where the Stone throne resided.

The men guarding the Halls gates deftly moved aside and pushed the door open to allow us entry.

We being armed completely going over their head as they imagined we would not dare harm the people inside.

As the gates opened, we were greeted by him sitting on his throne, his eyes closed, his mere aura domineering all it stared at.

His eyes looked tired as usual, a dim black shade surrounding them.

His dark grey beard traveled from his face, down his golden robe, past his feet and the steps of the throne, all the way to the floors of the hall.

His hands rested on the arms of the throne, his head nestled back.

He looked as if he was sleeping, yet all who knew him, knew that impossible.

He could not sleep.

He could not eat.

He could defecate.

He was outside mortality as we knew.

Lording of Dhalfarum for over three millennium.

All of our great countries record start with him.

Nothing from the days before.

But admiring him is not what I came here to do.

I stood infront of him before kneeling, my comrades following suit.

He opened his eyes, his illusion of sleep broken, as he stared down at us.

Volkain: “My king Vegh, I your son, Volkain have come to once again beseech you to allow us to remove the filthy presence disturbing our city. They have loomed over us for long enough and must finally be destroyed” I said this as I got up and looked up to him but his eyes looked to me dis-interest.

Vegh: “Foolish child” he said, his voice deep and wise “You know nothing of the orcs. You think them pitiful beasts to be slaughtered” his words caused everyone to look in confusion.

I mean what else are they?

Orcs are weak creatures.

Even in large numbers, a superior force would decimate them.

We dwarves, as short as we are compared to the other races, would easily dominate them on the field of battle.

100 of us vs 1000 of them would be a equal battle.

Even if there less than 10,000 dwarves in our military, it would be enough to combat any Orcish threat.

But my father forbid it foolishly.

Vegh: “Your eyes show defiance child” his voice once again loomed over the halls “You would not speak such words had you known what I do” an arrogant smile loomed across his old lips “The orc you know, will slowly dissipate into stories, for they have found a master once more” and with that he closed his eyes, his interest in me gone.

I silently got up my comrades following suit.

Volkain: “If I do not receive your blessing, I shall then do so without” and with that, our weapons were drawn.

AK here!

Anyways, I can always apologize over and over about going on hiatus.

But that isn’t good.

So I’ll tell you why I did go on hiatus.

I am writing an actual novel.

Well trying to, would be a more exact definition.

Seeing as how I am broke, if I wrote a book and sold it via Amazon, I might be able to look after myself from home, while writing.

Since writing is my Passion!

Well one of them anyways.

That aside enjoy the chapter, as I’ll try to follow with more chapters quite soon.

Sincerely,

-AK
