《Path of Damnation》Day 17: The Fort

DAY ??:
I sat there in silence as I glared at the beings who stood before me.
I watched as they shivered in fear, happiness, respect and… from one particular person, lust.
I glanced to my right and saw my companion, the one person who had been before my side from nearly the very start.
His body, so beautifully carved that it looked like the body of a god.
His facial features though, were far from godly.
He had dark red irises surrounded by darkness and his face was rugged.
He had two horns protrude from the top of his head. Two black obsidian horns that stretched at least over half a metre.
His mouth donned over a dozen sharp teeth that looked like they could rip iron to shreds.
And his dark grey skin made him look like a statue.
A Statue of a Demon Lord that stood over 4 metres at least.
This being was of course my closest and loyalist companion.
This was Kaiser.
I glanced back towards the people in front of me.
One orc, who dressed like a wizard. Or Warlock, would be more Precise.
The Warlock Lord, Ghum’bil is name.
He was another companion of mine and he radiated happiness in my presence.
He was quite clingly to me. It was slightly bothersome, but nothing more than that.
One of the other people were the Giant of being, that belonged to the race known as “Ogres”.
He was the Ogre Lord Khaz Miz, who, begrudgingly was forced to bend a knee to me.
He radiated fear and hate. But I sensed respect coming from him as well.
Another person was the Human, who was clad in a full black plate set. He was also quite big as he was over 2 metres tall.
He was Jonathan Edgarth the First.
He simply had a huge amount of respect and love for me.
Like those knights out of fantasy had for their kings.
And the final person was the incredibly slender woman. She was incredibly beautiful, rivalling Natasha’s beauty.
But for a few reasons, she was not on my list to conquer.
That aside, she belonged to the race known as “Elves”, the so called dignified and honourable people who lived almost forever.

In this world there may be Elves like that, but the Elves I have met are far from dignified and honourable, nor are they long lived.
Aside from a few of them, most of them live as long as humans.
That aside, this womans name was Alianna and She radiated lust, a somewhat impossible amount of it as well.
This coupled with the fact that her name sounded like Ayanna, really bothered me. But aside from that, nothing.
As I glanced at them, Ghum’bil smiled like a fool, Khaz Miz, bowed his head, again begrudgingly, Jonathan nodded and Alianna smiled lustfully.
I sighed while resting my head on my hand.
My long elegant hand.
I thought back on how I, the so called God of Damnation, ended up with this council.
DAY 16:
At the end of the day we finally managed to reach the end of the path.
Because it was now, what I assume was Midnight, I ordered us to set up camp and rest.
We could continue our journey tomorrow, seeing as we were in no rush.
DAY 17:
On this particular day, we travelled a few kilometres from the end of the pathway before I discovered a incredible scene.
I stood there with Kaiser at my side and our group behind us as we stared at scene unfolding infront of us.
This scene was not something that would happen in normal fantasy stories.
Because, it was a group of Ogres laying siege to a fort, a clearly human made fort, which was being defended by Ogres.
And both sides were horrible at both Siege and defense.
They took literally stupid to another level.
The ogres which were at smallest over 3 metres and who knows how many hundreds of kilos, attempted to use human ladders to scale the 10 metre tall walls of the forts.
Ofcourse they simply ended up breaking the ladders and falling, not to their deaths, but onto other ogres and the ground and simply cursing in anger before getting back up to continue their siege.
The defenders on the other hand, were just throwing things down at them, like their weapons and armour.
I even saw a ogre throw another ogre down.
That thrown ogre ended up cracking a ogres head and breaking its own spine.
Those were the only two ogre casualties.
This was the second day of the siege and ogres looked clearly tired, I wonder how many days they have been doing this retarded battle.
Kaiser asked me what we planned to do about them.
I simply replied, wait till their tired and take the fort for the group.
It looked sturdy and safe, plus it was built into a mountain.
Easily defendable, if you have any form of intelligence.
Something these ogre’s clearly didn’t have.
I watched them battle for hours on end, that we even had a group meal of beautifully cooked deer as we watched the Ogres battle.
The kids were watching the ogres and laughing while the girls commented on their stupidity.
It was a good meal.
We had some nice quality bonding time.
We were quite some distance away from them so we were safe, but then we spotted a third ogre group that looked like it was also watching them battle.
I told the group to quiet down and took Kaiser with me to listen in on this third group.
Since there were too many groups, I decided to Dub the Defenders, Ogres A, the attackers, Ogres B and the third group Ogres C.
Anyways I slowly made my way to the Ogre C camp and began to listen in on their conversation.
They were talking Orcish, I know this because Kaiser told me they were.
Anyways, I don’t know why they were talking Orcish, but they were.
I looked towards the largest Ogre who I assumed was the leader, his name was Ogre Lord, Hubal.
With Kaiser by my side we waited patiently for Hubal to begin speaking.
But when he did, what he said was facepalm worthy.
Hubal: “Good Defense” he said talking to the ogre next to him “They throw armour and weapon at Ogre at the bottom, confuse them. Very good. I do same thing” he said with respect in his voice. I began to suspect that all ogres were retarded but then he continued “The attackers smart as well. You lad lad (ladders) to go up wall an take big house. Very smart” he then nodded to himself in confirmation.
While he confirmed that, I confirmed that almost all ogres were brain damaged.
I took Kaiser with me back to our camp and told him that we have to get rid of all the Ogres and take the castle and then I had plan to make this happen.
But then plan became nullified, when the Ogres A who were defending the fort, opened up the gate and charged at the attackers.
As I was thinking to myself ‘Just how retarded can you be’ I heard Hubal shout “Genius Tac (tactic), surprise them. I never think of that me self. Very smart defense”.
I could only facepalm.
As the nearly naked and weaponless Ogres A attacked the heavy armour and weapon clad Ogres B, I saw Ogres B demolish Ogres A.
I mean who would expect to win fighting naked aganst a heavily armoured opponent.
As Ogres A got wiped out, Ogres C led by Hubal charged into the fray and attacked the heavily armoured Ogres B, which his own heavily armoured ogres.
In the end, like I expected, both sides retreated with heavy injuries.
Very heavy injuries.
There were dozens of dead ogres littering the battlefield, but Ogres B lost more ogres than Ogres C.
The entrance to the fort was simply open now.
I asked Kaiser to simply clean up the entrance of the fort, by removing the ogres near its entrance.
Kaiser complied and began to neatly stack the ogres all together.
Like a pyramid of ogres.
That aside, we entered the fort and closed the huge metal doors.
That aside, the question going through my head was how did Ogres manage to take a fort that is so heavily fortified?
Or why was such a fort abandoned?
Nonetheless those are questions that can be answered later.
I made the group camp in the forts small courtyard while Kaiser and I explored the fort.
Just incase there are a few ogres remaining.

8 98A Merchants Tale
Legends rise. Country’s fall. Empires wage war. But what supports these great powers, allowing them to function as a single organism. Is it the common man, Farmers and Millers forming the backbone of the land? The Soldiers and Guards keeping public order? The Wives and Widows supporting from the side-lines? The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? Or other Nations clawing at their neighbour’s, salivating over the riches they stand to gain from another’s demise. There is one group that belongs to neither group. They thrive on others misfortune and bring with them salvation and destruction in equal measure. They can raise a kingdom up or tear it down screaming and kicking. These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. Merchants come in many forms, shapes and sized, some gaudy, bleeding the people for all their worth, some tricky, preferring to make contracts and debts to trap men. And some desperate, doing all they can to sell even the most worthless of junk. This is a story of one merchant who goes against all a merchant stands for. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after? Quick disclaimer in response to the review I got, this is my first story and somewhat of an experiment for me, hopefully my writing will get better the more I practice. Thanks for any helpful advice :)
8 65The Crisis on Planet 9
Welcome to the dream colony Planet 9, where the streets are stained by blood and the buildings are filled with human remains. The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive. For now, his only goal is to become strong enough and rejoin his students and fellow colleagues, foolishly hoping to somehow be able to get back to the time when the undead did not rule the streets. Will Kardian be able to survive in this new savage world or will his naive outlook lead him to a dead end? Volume 1 can be bought on Amazon: Resonance High
