《Aenthar》Chapter 041 - Student Council

AN: Hi, your lazy author present you chapter 41 :D, enjoy!!
I started to read Age of heroes. It's so immersive (and addictive :P), the author really made a lot of efforts with the history of the world. I wish I could reach that level of detail in the lore of Aenthar, but I'm too lazy ):

Aenthar: «I have nice news, good news, good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first? »
Muriem: «... The bad news is probably a drawback of all the positives news so let's start with them. »
Aenthar: «My magic classes changed from beginner to intermediate, the academy will pay me 4 gold coins per year for my living expenses, and I was appointed to the student council! »
Muriem: «What? 4 gold coins per year? That means that we will have plenty of extra money this year! Aenthar, please be a dear and buy us some nice clothes, not much, just a piece or 2. We are in the capital after all, and there are plenty of nice ones. Pretty please? »
Aenthar: «...»
Kerrina: «What is the student council? »
Muriem: «Ah? You didn't hear? They are a group of top students that make sure the other students don't make troubles, and help with problems between students. Ah!! Congratulations on entering the student council!! »
Aenthar: «... Yeah, thank you very much...»
Muriem: «Aww, come on! I really am happy for you, but for us it isn't that surprising for this to happen considering your abilities. »
She took me in her arms and kissed me on the cheek.
Muriem: «Were you trying to look good in front of us? You don't need to, you know? For me you're always incredible. »
Kerrina: «Right, congratulations to our awesome Aenthar. Now what about the bad news? »
Aenthar: «... The bad news is that my schedule is almost full now, and there will be the work with the student council. I won't have much free time. »
Kerrina and Muriem: «Ah!! »
Kerrina: «I doesn't matter how busy you will be, you'd better make some time for us every Qotrus. It will be our only day to truly enjoy some time with you since you will be too busy during the other days of the week. »
Aenthar: «Of course! You think I will forget about you girls that easily? »
Muriem: «You won't, you love us too much... And you're too horny to ignore these two beauties. I give you a little hug and your hand goes straight to my butt! »
Aenthar: ''Ugh!! Damn right about those points.'' «Says the one who is always tempting me in the evening! »
Kerrina: «Whether we tempt you or not doesn't change anything anyway... And I also want some nice fabrics to make clothes! Pretty please? »
Aenthar: «...»

-------
The next day before class started, I went to the staff building to get my new schedule. My meeting with the student council would take place during the last class hour of the day. Then I went to my first class of the day, earth magic. When I came in, most of the students were already there, and many stared at me, some with recognition, and others with curiosity. The latter group must have wondered who the guy that wasn't present during the introduction classes was, but the others definitely knew about me.
???: «Are you the rumored first year? You certainly look like the one! » said a young caecian guy.
Aenthar: «... I don't know. What kind of rumors are we talking about? »
???: «Rumors about a young boy, barely 12 years old, half dark elf, with high magic ability and affinity to 7 elements.»
Aenthar: «The name is Aenthar. Nice to meet you. »
He stood from his seat and went in front of me. We were the same height, but he had more muscles than me – a warrior, with above average magic ability. He had dark blond hair and hazel eyes, slightly round nose, round face, tanned skin, probably due to the time spent training under the sun. He was quite good looking, with a unique charm to him.
???: « Nice to meet you too, I am Ren Brom, son of viscount Edward Brom, and member of the student council. It looks like we will spend a lot of time together from now on. Let's get along.»
He offered his hand and I shook it firmly.
Aenthar: «It is a pleasure. »
Teacher: «Alright everybody, class is starting so stop chatting and get to your seat. »
Ren Brom: «I guess we will talk later. »
The lesson proceeded without a problem. I noticed that many people had higher affinity than me with earth mana, and Ren Brom and others casted faster and smoother than me. I guess it really was a good thing for me to come here. In Argot I was unrivaled in magic, but here there are people better than me in their respective fields, although I'm still better overall if compared to intermediate class students.
After the class ended, several people came to see me, mostly commoners and children of merchants. I guess the nobles would want a calmer environment to speak with me. Besides, we still had other lessons to take. They asked me what the elements I had affinity for were, where I lived, and if the rumors were true. Of course, I didn't reveal to anyone where I lived in the city, nor did I tell anyone that I came from Argot. I remained vague on those points. Most of the day was spent in that fashion.
-------
At the end of the day, as I left my classroom, Ren came to get me and we went to the student council office. It was at the back of the staff building on the second floor. In the room, there was some furniture, and a large table in the middle with 11 seats, 5 on each side and 1 at the head of the table. There were 9 people inside - 4 boys and 5 girls.

Ren: «I have brought the last and newest member of the student council. Let me make the presentations. The lady at the edge of the table is the chief of the student council, Jane Millard, from the magic department. From the same department, we have Eliane Shane, Francisco Drega, and finally you, Aenthar. »
Each of them nodded at me when they were introduced
Ren: «From the martial arts department, Gamli Tzarim, Kalima, Jean Wallace and finally me. From the society department, we have Irmynn Thum, Franck Dumas and Bertha Schutzen. »
Aenthar: «It's a pleasure to meet you all, my name is Aenthar. »
All the members of the student council were caecian except for three people, Gamli Tzarim who was a dwarf, Kalima, who was a kuende girl, and Irmynn Thum, who was a wood elf girl. Elves aren't rare in Tristam since there are 2 elven kingdoms nearby, but dwarves are quite rare since their homeland is on the eastern side of Zanitras whereas Tristam is at the extreme west.
Jane: «The pleasure is ours. You are famous you know? You are the first 7-elemental mage to appear in centuries, with exceptional magic ability and a good control of spells despite your young age. But that is not all. You also got high grades in society subjects, and in arithmetics and geometry you scored perfect grades.»
Gamli: «And by the look of your build, you mustn't be bad in martial arts. It's a shame you don't take any martial arts classes. »
Aenthar: «I know, I have a bit of knowledge in polearms and hand-to-hand combat, but I have to postpone it for now. My lack of knowledge in magic got me into a bit of trouble last year, and with 7 affinities, there isn't enough hours in the week to take all the classes. I will have to rely on 2 friends to keep my martial arts in shape. »
Gamli: «That's too bad. Magic has its own drawbacks even if it doesn't really look like it in your case. »
Irmynn: «Have you been briefed on the duties of the student council? »
Aenthar: «I was told that our job is to handle the problems between students, keep them from making trouble and deal with those who don't follow the rules of the academy. But the more important cases will probably be handled by the teachers I guess? »
Jane: «That's right. Each year there are fights between students in the magic and martial arts departments, or between students of the 2 departments due to rivalry. Students from the society department are commonly bullied by students of the other departments. There is often tension between the nobles and the commoners. There are some students who bring in things that should stay outside of the academy, and some who move around suspiciously at night. »
Aenthar: «Then I'm lucky I don't live in the dorms. It would suck to have to wake up in the middle of the night when my own schedule is almost packed. I'm sorry for those of you who live in the dorms. »
Kalima and Francisco lowered their heads slightly with tired eyes while the other showed wry smiles.
Aenthar: «How do you deal with all those problems, and what will I do? »
Jane: «We patrol within the area of our departments and on the common grounds with the help of our assistants. When there is trouble, those on patrol go to the scene. If necessary, we leave our classrooms, or our meals, or our beds. »
Gamli: «In case of serious disputes, we can organize duels to help settle them, and we make sure nothing serious happens. But we can also give advice to students worried about their studies, and some even ask for advice about love! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!»
Aenthar: «Seriously??»
Ren: «Seriously. And it doesn't look like it but Gamli made 3 happy couples. »
Aenthar: «... You'll have to tell me about it later. But back to topic, how do you know when and where there is trouble? How do you communicate with the assistants? »
Jane: «The assistants are like our eyes and ears in the academy. Members of the student council and their assistants have a badge with a few enchantments. The badge form the council member is different from that of the assistants. The one from the assistants can send a magic signal to the 2 nearest badges held by student council members. The badge will vibrate and glow, and a small arrow will appear on the badge that will point towards the badge that emitted the signal. We wear our badges on our chests so people can recognize us when looking for us. »
Irmynn: «When you deal with trouble, you must write a report about it. We meet every Patrus after class to discuss the state of the academy, and if necessary warn each other about some students. Here is your badge, along with your patrol schedule. »
Eliane: «For your first patrol, you will be paired with me. On the subsequent ones you will be on your own. »
Jane: «And with that, our business for today is done. You were appointed by the headmaster. I'm eager to see someone make trouble just see how you will handle it, hehehe! »
Aenthar: «Could it be that you like it when things are... lively? »
Jane: «Not really, but I want to see things get lively around the 7 elements user. »
The others all nodded in agreement with a glint of anticipation in their eyes.
And with that, I left the academy.

8 331Spear of Aiste
It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining, fluffy white clouds adorning the sky. Birds were twittering, flowers were blooming, the trees’ leaves were rustling under a gentle breeze. Spear couldn’t see any beauty in it, though. He didn’t notice any of those things – except for the sun hurting his eyes. He fantasized about running away from the village and going as far as the end of the world; he didn’t believe for a moment that he’d be able to. He tried to think of somewhere else to hide, but nothing came to mind; he kept wandering aimlessly, hoping to delay the inevitable.
