-Prologue-
The seasonal storms were especially heavy over the Mako Islands this year. The Mako Islands are part of a small archipelago on the eastern side of the sea country of Calder. Calder is a prosperous country consisting of nearly 20,000 different islands, boasting a powerful Navy to defend its coasts because it. The people of Calder are considered to be the best seafaring people in all of Gaia. Calder is a very popular destination for lovers & tourists because of the tropical environments over many of the islands. Trade in Calder is prosperous due to the many ports and resources provided by the islands. Mercenaries and sailors from around the world come to Calder seeking fame and fortune. The seas and storms made the waters of Calder treacherous to those inexperienced. Even the experienced sailors were wary of the storms. Storms raged for months on end in Calder.
This was the 45th day of the storms.
Most of Mako Island's citizens were hiding on this night. Not many would dare venture out in this weather.
Despite this kind of dreadful storm, a pair of silhouettes could be seen hiking towards the bluff, one with a small bundle in his arms.
“Sir, is this really okay? H-he’s still but a child, not born but just yesterday…it doesn’t feel right.” one of the shadows, asked the other.
“Silence!… our kings orders are absolute. You know that.” the other shadow states to the other, hesitation clear in his voice, “After we took this babe from the nursery his body was replaced with another child recently born. The parents will not know the difference.”

“Even so! This feels so wrong! I was trained to fight warriors! Not babies!” the first shadow expresses
with a heavy heart. Knowing what’s to come to this child.
“This child has been prophesied to usurp the throne! The royal family will not allow him to live.” the shadow carrying the child explains as the two finally make it to the edge. “It’s such a shame, I can feel the immense strength of this child’s soul.”
Unveiling the child’s face from the tight swaddling wrap the man gazes upon the child. The shadow holding the child wanted to offer his respects knowing what he is about to do. Astonished, the child is still asleep despite the storm and unknowing of what’s to come and only makes him feel more guilt in his heart.
Standing at the edge only inches away from darkness, and the crashing waves below, he softly rests his forehead against the child’s and breathes deeply, exchanging one final breath.
“Please find peace in the next world sweet child.” the man whispers into the child’s ears, too softly for
anyone to hear.
The shadow extends his arms over the bluff, and releases the bundle into the crashing waves below…

REND
In an alternate reality Earth, where a mysterious organization of superhumans fights eldritch horrors taking over people's minds, Erind Hartwell, a first-year law student with psychopathic tendencies and obsessive compulsion to follow an inexplicably arbitrary set of Rules, seemed normal in comparison. And that is what she is going for. Society frowned on different—especially her kind of different. Rule #4, "I wouldn’t bother the world as long as it didn't bother me." Unfortunately, the world bothered Erind's normal life. On the brink of death, an entity came offering powers to save her. Left with no other choice, she accepted it, changing into a new form—the first of many that'll help her survive this dangerous world. REND is a twist on the superpowered human genre combined with eldritch horror, but its main emphasis is character development and exploration, as it is mainly a psychological story.
