If you have not already notice it this is the first time ive writen anything, speacialy in english, now here are my concerns, do you like the lenghts of the chapters, do you hate the way I write, do you hate the time it takes me to write and post new chapter, well deal with it hehe, naa just make some constructive criticism and suggestion for the story and maybe Ill try harder, btw if i dont fix things you pointed out in previous chapters is for a reason :=B:

So without further ado heres chapter 8, aaahh another thing i forgot i may make some maps, not like the mushoku tensei maps ( i hate them) but nice ones.

Chapter 8

“I'm Frederick Aclaire and I will explain the basic functions of this world, I don't care if you already know it, this class is obligatory and all information I will be imparting to you today was directed by our local goddess”.

With a wave of his hand the table disappears, and he starts writing again.

“The basic functions are the ones the supreme goddess designated to us mortal to live easier, there are several common ones, the way we will be doing it is I say the command to access it, you repeat, after each explanation i'll allow questions”.

“First is the ‘Watch’, which allows one to see the time of the day, legends say of a faraway place beyond the wilderness where the time will differ greatly with the one in the nine kingdoms area, but here the most it changes is six hours from the westermost to the easternmost, now activate the command”

Then all over the place can be heard the word ‘watch’, and I as well say it.

“Watch”, a dim light shines from the ring and a small window appears.

After those words the window changes and state the time Frederick said.

He waits a little while to see if someone has a question and continues.

“Next is the ‘map’ function”

“Map” I say followed by a myriad of other people doing the same.

A window popped out this map but with no information just a black window with some blue, green and a miniature of the capital with a red dot and blue ones.

“The map function will only show the places you already went to and will not show places like the wilderness where Gaia has not yet reached, a red dot in the map will locate yourself, at the top right of the map you will see a compass, when you acquire a quest with clear location the compass will show you the way”

“Next is the ‘Status Window’” He waits a little while and seeing all the rest saying the same words I do the same.

“This will be long but stay focused” he says and starts the long explanation about everything and anything.

“Next is title, some of you may have something like son/daughter of…” He says while looking at the nobles side, “and maybe some may have task wise titles like farmer, etc”This time looking at the peasant side and of course me, wich makes me quite uncomfortable because all the people in the room looks at me and I swear I could hear someone which I can recognize clearly the voice say im sure he has the title of dirty mongrel.

“You must try to gain all kinds of titles, because each of them will let you gain considerable advantages, the way to gain them varies, ones are gained by simply killing different kinds of monsters, other by doing menial tasks, and of course there are ones given you by birth, to know which titles you have acquired through your life use the command ‘Collection of titles’”

Again following the stream I repeat like everybody else “Collection of titles”.

I remember seeing all of them trough the time we spend coming to the capital, but whats going on with the one with question marks? Guess thats one question to ask this Frederick.

“With that we finish the lesson about basic information, we still have the non-main profession but i'll let it for later”

He waits some seconds like earlier to let us formulate question and he is about to proceed but i raise my hand.

“Yes…”

“Erobos” I say to him thinking that he doesn't know my name.

“What question do you have Erobos?”

“I have a title which only has question marks”

He seems clearly surprised i have a title like everyone else in the room except the girl that repeats dirty mongrel… i swear i'm going to make her regret that.

Frederick recovers his calm demeanor and answers.

“Thats because you don't have enough information, rest assured when you gain information concerning that title it will update automatically”.

Seeing as i don't have anymore question he proceeds.

“Now lets proceed to the attributes, the first three you will see are health, mana and stamina with their respective recovery rates, those are obviously self explained, next is the satiety which is the amount of hunger and thirst combined in a simple porcentual bar” He finishes saying fast without giving it much importance.

“Now here are the things you really should try to remember and improve”

He start writhing in the air again forming small windows with information pertaining the attributes.

Strenght

Determines attack power with melee weapons, throwing weapons and maximum encumbrance weight.

Agility

Determines movement speed, attacks speed, and reflexes.

Dexterity

Determines firing rate and attack damage for ranged weapons.

Endurance.

Determines natural maximum health, natural body defense and pain resistance.

Intelligence.

Determines natural maximum mana and additional magic attack with spells.

Wisdom.

Determines Mana regeneration rate.

Luck.

Determines critical attack damage, and finding of loot.

“Those are the basic attributes you are born with, and in those you can allocate your potential points gained by leveling up, of course there are others you can acquire but are harder to improve because of the impediment to allocate potential points in them, but like the rest can be improved by doing an action that directly uses them, for example by lifting great weight for extensive period of times you can gain strength”.

“Next is the resistance which most of you will be not shown because you still haven't acquired them, so we will skip that but I will tell you that like with attributes you can improve them by in this case being affected by them, i don't recommend this because is quite painful”.

“Next is the Diplomacy which will show your familiarity with different factions, not much to explain as it explains itself”.

“Now I will explain about monster that roam outside the city walls, and to explain that first I need to explain about the world, every being including monster and sentient races have mana, not your usual mana to cast spells but a more primordial form, which of course can be absorbed, thats the way one levels up by killing monster and it means to absorb the primordial mana from a monster, and when that mana is larger that we can absorb is when loot is created, different than the loot one can gain from defeating sentient beings which is their current equipment and the beast and non-beast beings which are its flesh and fur, loot is a special item formed by accumulated primordial mana, more of this will be explained when you have your mercantilism class”.

“Next I will explain about professions, please listen with great care, because this will allow you to get the profession you really want, now to explain about professions i need to explain about skills, the way to gain difference between one another, but all of them have a requirement to be acquired, some asks you to repeat a menial task like repairing a metal object which will allow you to gain the repair metal skill, others will ask you to kill certain monster, or attack in a certain way, and theres also some skill that can't be acquired normally and asks you to accomplish a great deed or just simply need to be of certain race or profession to gain them, the skill have tiers just like items”.

And starts writing in the air again.

Waiting for everyone to finish seeing their skills he then continues.

“Now that we know about skills I can proceed with professionals, to acquire a profession is like acquiring a skills, you just have to fill requirements, some of those requirements are indeed skills, for example a warrior needs proficiency in some kind of weapons like a sword or lance, while a paladin needs also the healing spell, following that you can indeed evolve the warrior to paladin or acquire the paladin at the beginning, then what's the difference?, the difference is that if you first go through the warrior profession you can acquire the warrior skills as well, now that we know that what happens to the jobs that we acquire the requirements for but don't accept as our main professions?, those are called the non-main profession and have a command of their own, now most of you don't have even the main profession but i will explain either way, you must try to gain non-main profession, because skill that don't have their related profession acquired are ten time as hard to improve, but if you have the profession as a non-main profession its only five time harder”. He finishes with an enthusiasm demeanor.

Then he adds “If you already picked a profession and the profession you acquire the requirements for is not an evolved from from your already acquired one, then it will automatically be acquired as a non-main profession”.

“Last but not less important” He continues speaking after seeing that not one student asked for something, “there are the quests and the guild, quests can be simply acquired, there are several ways the acquire one.

One is to simply ask someone that wants something done, they will asses if they want to give it to you. Other way is simply given by circumstances, and usually gives the reward as experience or knowledge. Other way is by gaining knowledge of certain legends, histories or even eavesdropping a conversation; last is quest by guild, to attain these quest you first need to sign up in the guild as an adventurer, they will give you a rank according to your power and that rank will allow you to take quest accordingly to your rank posted in the various guild subsidiaries scattered through the nine kingdoms, coincidentally the guild branch of this city is just across the street, i recommend you to sign up”.

“And with that the class is over, remember to go to the magic institute at thirteen sharp”. With those word he waves at the things he wrote during the class and they all disappear, following by him leaving the room.

I fastly do what I was planning for the whole time and take every satchel stuffing it inside my satchel and nothing it has the same incantation as the pouch.

Without losing any time I follow after Frederick as to avoid confrontation with the pesky nobles.

Seeing me follow him he turns around and looks at me with an inquisitive look.

“Erobos.. right?, is there something you want me to answer?”

“Emm... “, damn I have nothing i just wanted to get away, mmm lets ask something random and be done with it, “How did you write on the air?”.

“Ahh thats easy but if Im sorry you'll have to ask tomorrow in the magic class”. With that he leaves, and of course I walk to the exit before someone bothers me again.

I should probably check the time and go look for Balt and Eos so we can eat lunch together.

What!? wasn't the class supposed to last two hours?, damn now what should I do to spend time, looking around I see the guild building and decide to enter it.

A wooden door led to a bar filled with people talking and drinking from pints filled with beer, its similar to the inn i'm staying at but here the people have combat équipement, swords bows cuirasses, robes, staffs and lots of other things.

Another difference is there are two counters, one serving food and drinks, while the other theres just a teenage woman standing there with boredom.

I deduce thats the place where i should register and approach her.

She doesn't notice me and keeps watching at the air.

“Excuse me”

She wakes up from her stupor and looks at me.

“Is there something I can do for you?” She ask doubtfully while checking my ragged clothes.

I should really get some decent clothing.

“Yes, i'd like to register as an adventurer”.

She tilts her head and looks at me strangely

“You do know it costs forty copper coins to register right?” She says while i'm certain she doubts i even have a single copper coin.

I grumble at her and proceed to look for the first satchel where i stored the money I found on the giant rat.

I look at my fifty copper coins and give her forty, while thinking now i'm poorer than before.

She looks at me skeptically and then at the coins placed in front of her.

“Identify” She says.

She makes a funny face and repeats the same command at least a dozen times before she gives up.

“These aren't normal coins, you can't use them as normal, go to the antique shop and ask for Pablo, I don't know how you got them but you can be as lucky as it can or unfortunate as you are”.

I don't know if she just said something nice to me, or insulted me.

Still i followed her words and head towards the western exit.

On the way I see shops like in the south exit but this ones have low quality products and I can tell from just a simple glance, the only good thing here is that the mantles that were unoccupied in the south exit here are filled with people with mismatched equipment selling different kinds of things, exotic things like strange meat, curved blades, blue pointed arrows, and much more.

I of course ignore it all and they seeing my clothes show the same demeanor.

After ten minutes walking I spot the place the bitch at the guild depicted me.

I open the door and an aroma of old objects invades my olfactory sense.

But that is not the most important thing, not even the fat ridiculously dress man behind the counter, but one of the clients browsing the store, he has a purple robe, which is nothing strange, the strange and horrible thing is his skin, it doesn't look at all natural, actually it looks like he got the skin from someone else and made a mask, it horrifies me, so I ignore him and make way to the fat man.

“What do you want” He says just as disdainfully as the bitch, which now that i notice has some similar features, not the fat but the eyes and the nose and as repugnant as “he” is i notice by her voice its a woman, an horrible one, but still a woman, I don't want to think how her daughter will look like and how her future husband will want to run away... or maybe I do.

I open my pouch again and place the coins on the counter.

She takes one, and casts identify, just like her daughter she doesn't get anything and makes a strange face, but after the tenth time she does get something and opens her eyes wide.

With a great smile and greedy twinkling eyes she just says “five hundred gold coins for the batch”.
