《Ascension: Rise of the Crimson Wizard》First Year Part 2

The first Gryffindor Quidditch game was exciting to say the least. Gryffindor was having a hard match against Slytherin. The latter had absolutely no sense of shame. 'Those cunning folks use any means to achieve their ends'. They took these words to new levels; except they were not cunning at all. Cunning implies you play dirty, without the others knowing. Not blatantly playing dirty, hovering over the limits of the Quidditch rules, earning yourself the scorn of the whole school. But the Gryffindors weren't going to go down without a fight, especially not against their mortal enemies. Kaiser was shaking his head at their stupidity, occasionally laughing at Lee Jordan's commentary, he was hilarious that one.
Also, this game was featuring the youngest seeker of the century: the famous Harry Potter, the-boy-who-lived. Alas, someone decided that brains are overrated. What better way to kill someone than to jinx his broom in plain sight, in front of hundreds of spectators, and accomplished masters of magic. He was betting on his crashing on the ground and dying, after all that's the logical conclusion if someone falls from their broom that high. Yes, that must be it. It's not like there is the [Arresto Momentum] Spell or anything.
The hero valiantly fought the evil broom, while his friends did their best to stop the evil Professor Snape from killing him. They set his robes on fire to distract him from cursing Harry Potter's broom with his black magic. And unsurprisingly, his broom came back to its senses after he was distracted. Then the hero, with a stroke of luck, found out that the snitch was right in from of him, waiting for him to take it, so he sprang to action, until he caught it with his mouth because why not.
Kaiser was hysterically laughing the whole match. Watching the events unfold, all while paying attention to the Headmaster's facial expression. He also noticed that his eyes were following the Golden Snitch. 'Of course, he is following it with his eyes, how else is he going to control it otherwise?'.
The headmaster was far too calm in front of the events, as if it was expected. But no one was really that stupid, attacking a student on a broom in plain daylight. Was Voldemort really that stupid? 'Must be a side effect of the horcruxes…'
-----------------
Christmas arrived and Kaiser has never been busier. He had a lot of objectives he wanted to achieve. He'd been practicing his spells. He finished all his first-year spells, and had been learning some other useful ones like the [Piercing] Spell.
But he was presented with a problem: he was weak. Magically weak. His magical reserves were laughable. That piercing spell he cast against the troll was the most he could do. He could've cast another one, but then he'd be unable to move. It was very concerning. He consulted with Madam Pomfrey and Professor Flitwick, they both told him the same thing: practice and some physical activity can do him some good. But the results would only be visible in the long term.
He was also about to begin Occlumency training. He could now 'clear his thoughts' under fifteen seconds. He has been practicing the first step diligently, and yet it still took him 4 months to achieve such success. Occlumency was no joking matter. It demanded discipline and willpower. He wasn't stupid to ignore the benefits of such skill, so he vowed he'd perfect it no matter what.
Thankfully, the Occlumency training difficulty can be changed, otherwise he'd stand no chance. Even in the easiest setting, it took him a minute to clear his thoughts, then he took some time to find the Legilimency probe. A more accurate word would be to "feel". It wasn't something he could see; it was all in the mindscape. He couldn't see it; he could only sense it.

He also tried to learn Non-Verbal Casting, but it was a lost cause. He needed his magic to mature enough. The same goes for Wandless Magic. Though, after some research, he found out why it was so difficult for the general populace to execute it. First, you'd need an enormous control over your magic. Which can't be achieved in a few days. It needed years and years of practicing magic with dedication. Then, even with that, you'd need huge magical reserves. You're either born with it, or you use some ritual or potion to expand them. Knowing that rituals are both a taboo and exceedingly rare. They are only found in the libraries of ancient families. The same goes for potions. No family would want to give up that advantage. But fortunately for him, the Rowena did have both. But they were beyond his level to achieve. He was alternating between spell work, occlumency training and potion making in the Room of Requirement.
He wasn't the only one who stayed at school during Christmas. Ron and Harry stayed as well, along with the twins. The problem with staying at Christmas with the twins there, mean they have less people to target… and being their target is certainly not fun.
"That's not fair!"
"How come you always check your food?"
"Constant vigilance. And honestly, who in their right mind wouldn't check their food being in the same table as you guys."
"He's got a point Gred."
"That he does Forge."
"Oh! By the way…"
"why do you always…"
"Disappear in the seventh floor?"
'Crap! I forgot about their stupid map!' Their alternating speech was really annoying, but he was in deep excrements now to care about that. He looked pensive for a second before he looked at them.
"I can't tell you that. But at least, I can tell you this: I solemnly swear I am up to no good."
They looked at him dumbfounded.
"Y-you know the Maurauders?"
"You mean Prongs, Moony, Padfoot and Wormtail?"
"You really know them!" one of the twins said.
"Yep. I also know Prongslet, the son of Prongs." Kaiser said with a grin.
"Can you introduce us?" the twins asked in unison.
"Unfortunately, they are out of reach right now. Perhaps in a few years." They were downcast at that. "But, the son of prongs is a student at Hogwarts."
"Who is it?" They asked excitedly, probably thinking about challenging him to a pranks war. But honestly, who was stupid enough to challenge professional full-time pranksters.
"Now, now, that would be telling." They pouted at that, and tried to ask him multiple times, but he refused to answer.
"Who are the Maurauders?" Harry asked. He was confused by the conversation.
"They were pranksters at Hogwarts during the last civil unrest." Kaiser answered. He was on friendly terms with Harry, but Ron seemed terrified of him since the Troll day. He looked at him, but he turned his head, trying to act unconcerned. The twins picked up on the interactions; they weren't about to let that go.
"Say, Kaiser…"
"Ronnikens tells us…"
"That you can transform into a Dark Lord…"
"With glowing red hair and eyes…"
"And you can send dark magic…"
"from your eyes…"
"Is it true?"
Kaiser spat his pumpkin juice at that, his left eye twitching in annoyance. He looked at Ron who was now shivering in his seat. 'hehehehe…'
"Hey Ron!" Kaiser called in mock anger, but Ron was too scared at this point.

"W-w-w-what?" Ron asked fearfully.
"Why did you tell them that? How am I supposed to take over the world if everyone knows of my plans?"
---------------
Kaiser didn't go back to the Room of Requirement after the twins mentioned their curiosity. He couldn't afford people finding out about it. Instead, he most of his time reading in the library. Soon it was time to start the new term, as students came back from their holidays.
Classes continued as usual. One thing Kaiser noticed was that Hermione seemed to looking for something. He could guess what that was. She approached him one day and asked the question.
"Nicolas Flamel? I think I saw him somewhere. He is a famous Alchemist. And also, an Immortal apparently."
"Immortal?" Hermione asked with wide eyes.
"Yes, you see he is the sole owner of the Philosopher's Stone, a stone rumored to transform any metal to gold, and with the ability to make the Elixir of Life. You see, Nicolas Flamel is around 600 years old. He used the Elixir of Life to extend his lifespan."
"Thank you!" She said before darting off. Kaiser merely shook his head. 'If they really wanted to protect the stone, all they'd have to do is put it under a [Fidelius] Charm… Then nobody could dream of stealing it, unless they were told by the secret keeper… Speaking of which, if Voldemort had placed one of his horcruxes under the Fidelius, he'd be really impossible to kill wouldn't he… OH FUCK, I hope I haven't jinxed it…'
(A/N: The Fidelius charm is an ancient spell used to conceal a location. The location protected by this spell "ceases to exist", as far as anyone else is concerned. It could be right in front of you, but you'd be unable to see it, instead magic will replace it by something else, as far as you're concerned. Even more, it would convince you not to look there, without you even knowing it of course.)
The school year continued without accident, until that one day he walking with Daphne and Tracey from the library, but they were stopped by Slytherin first years.
"I see house Greengrass have sunken so low to associate with filthy half-bloods, and even mud bloods of all people." Said one Pansy Parkinson disdainfully. The opinion was shared by all Slytherin if their nodding as any indication.
"Whom I associate with is none of your business." Daphne shot back, her face betraying no emotions. Her title of "Ice Queen" was deserved. Though she still hasn't acquired it yet.
"Of course, it is. You are pureblood, the elite of society. You should be hanging out with us. Not with this filth." Draco spat through gritted teeth, pointing at Kaiser and Tracey.
"Don't bother answering Malfoy, Daphne. He's probably under the [Imperius] again." Said Kaiser calmly. His occlumency training paying off. Only god knows how he said that with a straight face. Trace burst into laughter, while Daphne smirked.
They were outraged at that, as it was the greatest shame of their families. Their face contorted, boiling red with anger. They took out their wands, preparing to cast spells, but Kaiser was faster than them. When you cast the same spell over and over again, it becomes second nature to you.
"Depulso!" He sent a banishing charm their way, making it wide enough to hit all those at the front. The others behind them were hit by their friends. They found themselves lying on the ground, shaken. They looked up and saw Kaiser looking at them, eyes glowing red, amplifying their fear.
"Next one will be lethal." He said, watching each one of them for any movement, as they stood up. "Fuck off."
They hurriedly left him; afraid he'd truly kill them. It's not every day you meet a demon with red glowing eyes and hair, threatening to kill you after all. Kaiser sighed in relief at that, it was a close call.
"Remind me not to piss you off." Tracey said after a moment of silence, while Daphne nodded. Kaiser merely shook his head. He knew better. That spell took most of his energy. Had they truly fought; he'd stand no chance. He was too weak.
--------
The next day, as Kaiser sat in the Great Hall, he was approached by Professor Snape.
"Mr. Lunar, you've been summoned to the headmaster office. Go there as soon as you finish breakfast. The password is Lemon Drop."
Kaiser nodded, all the while avoiding eye contact with the professor. He's been doing that since he came to school. He never looks any professor in the eye. The same for the older Slytherins. You never know who might know Legilimency.
Daphne and Travis shot him an apologetic glance. "Sorry to get you into trouble." They said.
"It's alright." Kaiser answered. It wasn't their fault after all.
He finished his breakfast rather quickly, before he went to the head table to speak with his head of the house.
"Yes, Mister Lunar?" asked the diminutive professor.
"I have been summoned to the headmaster office. I read in the rules that the head of the house can be present in such meetings."
"Very well."
The headmaster's office was a large and beautiful circular room, full of funny little noises. A number of curious silver instruments stood on spindle-legged tables, whirring and emitting little puffs of smoke. The walls were covered with portraits of old headmasters and headmistresses, all of whom were snoozing gently in their frames. There was also an enormous, claw-footed desk, and, sitting on a shelf behind it, a shabby, tainted wizard's hat — the Sorting Hat.
Kaiser entered admiring the sight that presented itself. Professor Snape was already there, with headmaster Dumbledore sitting at his desk.
"Welcome Professor Flitwick, Mister Lunar. Please take a seat." Said the headmaster with a grandfatherly tone.
When they were both seated, he began: "We have received six complaints from six students from the Slytherin house yesterday. They claim you attacked them, and threatened to kill them. What are your comments on this?"
Kaiser frowned at this. 'They really know how to exaggerate…'
"I didn't attack them, Professor. I merely defended myself. The six of them pointed their wands at us, ready to attack us. I was faster. I cast a banishing spell that hit most of them." Kaiser said calmly. 'Really what kind of idiots line up for their opponent.'
" 'Us'? Who was there with you, Mister Lunar." The headmaster asked.
"Tracey Davis and Daphne Greengrass."
"Why, according to you, did you feel the need to attack you, Mister Lunar?" Snape was the one who asked this time.
"Well, they stopped us as we were exiting the library. They were berating Daphne for hanging out with 'filthy half-bloods and even mud bloods'."
Professor Flitwick frowned at this. "Those terms are strictly forbidden at school."
"Please continue, Mister Lunar." Said the headmaster with a frown as well.
"Well, Malfoy told Daphne that she should be spending time with them instead. I told her that she shouldn't answer him because… well… I suggested Malfoy may be under the Imperius again…" suppressed a chuckle at this. Even the headmaster's eyes were twinkling with amusement. Professor Snape, however, was not impressed.
"They said you threatened to kill them. Is that true?" Snape asked.
"It is not. I merely suggested that my next spell could, possibly, probably, be lethal. I don't see any death threat there." Kaiser said easily.
"I see. You may leave, Mr. Lunar." The headmaster said.
When Kaiser and Flitwick left, the headmaster turned to Professor Snape.
"Have you noticed, Severus? The boy didn't look at our eyes, not even once."
"Indeed. Now that you mention it, he never looked me in the eye in any of our potion classes… Do you think he knows about Legilimency?" Professor Snape asked.
"Yes, I think he does… But even if he did, why would he avoid our eyes? Does he suspect us of using it? Or does he have something to hide?" Dumbledore asked.
"Well… He is a bit paranoid. He always walks with his wand in hand. He always checks his food with multiple spells. He was once asked in the beginning of the year. He answered "Constant Vigilance". Apparently, he is following in the footsteps of Alastor Moody. He was also the one to execute the Piercing spell on the troll incident…" Professor Snape frowned at the last part.
"We should keep an eye on him." was the conclusion of that meeting. Dumbledore asked about his background, and he knew came from an orphanage. And with his peculiar features, he knew he must have had a hard time. He didn't want another Riddle popping out of nowhere. He needed to keep an eye on the boy.
