《Beast God》Chapter 19

Ben looked the pitiful amount of meat left for him, unable to decide whether to laugh or cry.
Ben got up and headed out of the cave. Cloey, who was still wary of him, kept on eye on him.
“Where are you going?” she asked.
“Hunting, someone ate all the food and I am still hungry.” he shot an accusing look towards Cloey.
Her face turning bright red, Cloey looked down at the ground making Ben almost trip over his own feet.
‘Dammit, this woman is dangerous. She’s going to bring me countless problems in the future.’
Ben decided to handle them when they came his way. All he had to do was be stronger than everyone right?
...
Cloey watched him leave, unable what to think of this man. All he life she had hated men, with good reason. Her people were sold as sex slaves because of their beauty and trafficked across the universe. When her new master told her that all the slaves would have a chance at freedom, she jumped at it.
She ended up on an unfamiliar planet, the natives lusted over her beauty just like anywhere else. With her level back at 15, she could hardly defend herself, so she ran. She ran from beast and humans alike, because to her they were not any different.
Ben seemed to be different. He wasn't oblivious to her beauty, that was easy to see as she caught him staring with a stupid look on his face. What shocked her is when she caught him staring he would act embarrassed and shy, like a child caught stealing sweets.
Though he wasn't overly handsome, his eyes were enough to leave Cloey mesmerized. She often caught herself staring into his eyes without realizing it.
Though she didn't trust him yet, she did have a favourable first impression.
‘I wonder if he will share his food with me.’ she thought rubbing her stomach.

Ben decided to pour all his free attribute points into AGI again. His style of fighting was to hit quick and hard. His STR attribute was already very high so he decided he needed to be faster.
Ben gave a glance over his skills.
‘Beast Imitation…’
He had yet to use this skill as he had no idea how to even start.
“One way to learn, I guess.” as he spotted a 3 Horned Lizard near a shrub.
Ben sprinted towards the lizard with his newfound speed, his speed was able to beat a car now. He left his swords sheathed and decided to fight barehanded.
Channeling his elemental energy, tiny lightning bolts danced around his left hand.
‘Okay Beast Imitation, imitate a beast. Imitate Duke’s claws.’
Picturing Duke’s claws when he attacks in his mind, Ben felt his left hand start to itch.
Looking down, Ben was speechless. His fingers had become longer while his fingernails became long and sharp. Without thinking to much, Ben attacked the lizard with his new hand.
His ‘claw’ pierced through the skin without any resistance. The lightning left the lizard incapacitated as Ben broke its neck without hesitation.
Ben looked down at his hand as it morphed back to usual.
‘Cool. I still need practice but this is still cool.’
Grabbing the carcass, Ben started back.
‘Bark Bark!’
Ben dropped the lizard as his arm started heating up.
‘Duke! You finally awake!’ Ben was ecstatic. He missed Duke’s company and his strength when fighting.

Ben’s right arm gave a light glow before Duke appeared in front of Ben.
Ben couldn't believe his eyes, ‘This was Duke?’ he thought.
Duke was covered in pure black fur but now it had a light red glow to it and his eyes were blood red.
What shocked Ben the most was his size! He was the size of a freakin horse!
His shoulders were almost the same height as Ben, standing around 1.75m. His paws were the size of dinner plates while the claws were as long pencils!
“That's you right buddy?” Ben asked a little nervous.
‘Of course you idiot!’ a young childish voice appeared in his head.
Without giving Ben a chance to react, Duke pinned Ben on the ground and started licking him.
“Hahaha okay okay enough. I’m happy to see you to bud.” letting out a loud laugh, Ben scratched Duke’s ear.
‘Wait did he just talk to me?’ Ben realized.
‘Yes!’ Duke replied.
“Holy shit, this is weird.” Ben muttered to himself.
‘Why do I smell a female on you Master? Did you find a mate while I was away?’ Duke asked sniffing Ben’s clothes.
“NO you big idiot! I am just helping her out.” Ben denied.
‘Do you plan on making her your mate Master? Is that why you are bringing food back? To present her with food in exchange for mating rights?’
“Shut up you damn mutt! It’s not like that! I’m hungry so I got some food okay! That’s it.” Ben yelled at Duke in frustration.
‘I am hungry to Master.’ Duke said innocently.
“Yeah? Well go get your own food. This is mine.” scolding Duke, Ben walked away.
Duke looked at Ben before taking off in another direction.
‘I’ll be back after I eat Master!’ Duke’s voice rang out in Ben’s mind.
Ben smiled shaking his head, ‘One headache after another.’
Curious about Duke’s current strength, he opened his stats panel.
Duke- Lvl 20

Loyalty- 100%

Blood Lust
Soul Beast
‘His stats are basically the same as mine.’ Ben noticed.
Clicking on Duke’s skill a description pop up.
Blood Lust- the user enters a crazed state for 30 seconds, raises all states by 25%.
Ben thought this was an impressive and useful skill.
‘With my Beast Imitation skill, I should be able to use it as well.’
Making back to camp, Ben noticed Cloey wasn't in the cave anymore.
‘Maybe she left?’ shrugging his shoulders he started to fry the lizard.
With the lizard finally cooked, Ben started devouring the lizard with his voracious appetite.
Half way through the carcass, Ben heard Cloey walking into the cave. Looking up at her with a grease stained face, Ben saw that she had a wineskin attached to her waste.
‘Where the hell did she get that?’ he wondered.
“I have a large water bottle, so you don't need to carry around that wineskin.” he told her, starting to eat his food again.
“It’s not for drinking ,” she said, “it is for fighting.” Uncorking the wineskin, water started to float out before turning to sharp icicles.
Ben was impressed, those icicles could easily kill a lizard.
Putting the water back in the wineskin, she looked at Ben expectantly.
“Do you need something?” he asked in between mouthfuls.
“Ah, yes. May I have some?” she asked, pointing at the roasted lizard.
Ben truly felt like crying this time.

8 153Forced Development (What does it truly mean to live a fulfilling life?)
To get things started I would like to admit that this story does not bring much new to the table when it comes to the over-saturated Litrpg genre in terms of things like mechanics and power systems. Then what exactly am I trying to bring to the table with this work? A nice slow-paced novel about people maturing and growing older think of it as the re: zero or jobless reincarnation of Litrpgs. A story that tries to take into consideration how a worldwide system would affect the economics and culture of a world. A story that is much more character-focused than the typical heavy progression-focused novels this genre is known for. The RPG system, like any good power system, is there to actually explore the themes of the story and not just as a plot device for characters to get stronger. This is a story where we will see the growth of the Mc from being a baby to when he dies of old age. With plenty of heart-racing actions and intriguing plot developments along the way. Exploring themes like; What does it mean to improve at something and what does it mean to mature as a person? How does magic, the constant threat of monsters and people so much stronger than the average joe that they can destroy countries affect one's culture both on the micro and the macro scale? How people are affected by the culture in general? Generational trauma Nature vs Nurture Talent vs hard work What is morality, society, and people's opinions on both? What does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be alive in the context of a world with multiple sapient species vastly different from one another in basic biology? All these questions are going to be explored from multiple angles using the system as a catalyst for those discussions. So if any of does questions sound interesting to you what are you waiting for, I'm sure you are going to love this story. PS - Chapter come out every Friday at about the same time.
8 187Magic can be good... (Jeffmads-Hamilton Modern Au, [I DONT OWN THE ART])
Everyone is born with a tattoo. The design represents what kind of powers you have. The white tattoos represent light magic, and the black represent black or dark magic. Black magic is very rare to get, and is very rare. Thomas Jefferson however, got "lucky" with getting this black magic. Everyone assumes that people with black magic are bad people. James Madison, has a light tattoo, but his powers have yet to reveal itself. Jefferson and Madison are going to the same college, with Jefferson's twin brother and his friends. (Lafayette[twin], Hercules, Alexander, and John.) Black Magic has always seemed bad to Jefferson, and Magic in general always seems bad to Madison. Can magic ever be good?
