《Beast God》Chapter 6

Time seemed to stop for a split second.
"Now!" yelled Ben as he ran as fast as his 8 AGI would carry him. Duke took off in the opposite directions. Both of them were trying to get cover behind the trees.
*Bang!*
Ben felt a sharp pain on his side that almost caused him to trip. Gritting his teeth, he regained his footing and dashed into the trees for cover.
Looking down at his side he let out a sigh of relief. The bullet only grazed his side, leaving a chunk of missing flesh on his side but other wise superficial wound. Hearing the men running after him he ran further into the forest.
...
"Damn it! You missed! How could you fucking miss!" spit was flying from Scar's mouth as he yelled at Phil.
'All he had to do was shoot the kid and he missed!'
"You shut your mouth you damn rat! I'll kill you if you say another word." threatened Phil, upset that his lackey dared talk back to him.
Scar let out a mocking laugh, "Do it. You only have one shot left, the second you take that shot is the second we kill you."
Phil was shocked, he looked at the two brothers and they both had an evil smiles on their face. Angry boiled inside of him, 'These redneck trash are threatening me!?'
Calming himself down, he said "You're right, from now on we are equals. Our classes make us a perfect party and we should be able to defeat almost anyone."
"Right! Together we can have as much women and money as we want! No need for us to fight!" Dan exclaimed loudly, nodding towards Phil and Scar.
The other two seemed to agree, Phil relaxed and gave a friendly smile.

In his heart is sneered, 'Dumb shits, you'll be dead before you know it.'
Finding blood on the ground Phil spoke up, "He is injured, we need to kill him before he heals. We don't know what kind of class he has or if he has high VIT. Lets follow the blood. Scar can go ahead and scout while we follow him."
The four of them agreed and started chasing Ben.
They were overestimated Ben, he still didn't have a class and his stats were all lower than the four men.
...
Ben was sitting against a tree trying to stop the bleeding from the gunshot wound. Taking out his only spare shirt, he ripped it into pieces and wrapped his side the best he could.
'It should stop the bleeding, my VIT still isn't high enough it seems.'
Ben was waiting for Duke to find him so they could ambush these bastards. Hearing voices Ben quickly climbed up the tree, hiding himself in the branches. Looking down at the four men, Ben listened to their conversation.
"The blood trail ends here."
"Do you know where he went?"
"I'm a thief, not a tracker. I don't have that skill."
"Alright lets spread out and look for him, yell if you find him."
'These guys already have their classes!'
Even though they already had their classes and levels were probably higher than his, he didn't fear them. His control over his body and swordsmanship had improved.
Watching them split up, Ben decided to follow the leader, Phil. His gun was the only real threat to him so he needed to be killed.
Ben quietly slid down the tree before taking off in his direction. Ben watched him, he how his gun in his right hand and club in the left. Ben was waiting for him to put the gun away before attacking.

Ben crouched down in a bush. Phil searched left and right, finally he was walking towards Bens hiding place.
All of Ben's muscles seemed to tighten in suspense, like an bow string ready to release. Killing animals and monsters is one thing, killing an actual human, no matter how evil, was completely different. He knew it was him or them, kill or be killed. Steeling his resolve, Ben knew what he had to do. Phil was getting closer and closer to him, due to Ben's sword being so short, he had to wait until he was within a 3m range before attacking.
*rustle*
A light rustle was heard to the left of Ben and Phil turned towards the sound.
'This is my chance!'
Dashing out of the bushes with his sword in hand, Ben closed the distance between the two in a blink of an eye. Before Phil could react, a thin line of blood appeared across his throat. Grabbing his neck in vain to stuck the bleeding, he dropped to his knees before falling over.
*haa haaa haa*
Taking deep breaths, Ben looked at the body. His stomach churned, threatening to empty itself.
[Acquired passive skill Beginner Sword Mastery (1/10)]
A look of shock crossed Ben's face for a second before a huge grin appeared.
"Hahaha! So you have finally appear!" Ben laughed loudly. The pressure he had been experiencing lessened knowing he took his first step into Sword Mastery skill.
Duke walked out from the bushes with a confused look on his head, trying to understand why his master was so happy. Looking at Duke, Ben knew that it was him that gave him the opening to kill Phil.
"Thanks buddy," Ben petted his head gently, "now lets go finish the other three off." A cold grin flashed across his face.
...
Dan had been searching for over an hour now without finding the brat. He was getting frustrated and decided to head back to where they split up but before he did a figure walked out of the bushes.
It was Bennett. His t-shirt was covered in blood from the gunshot wound but it didn't look like it bothered him. Holding a deadly looking short sword he slowly approached Dan.
"You have balls kid. HE'S OVER HERE!" Dan yelled, trying to attract the attention of the other three.
"Save your breath. You're leader is dead and your brother are already dead. Duke is taking care of the thief as we speak." he spoke calmly.
Dan became drenched in cold sweat, "You're lying!" he denied it.
As he finished speaking, a giant black wolf walked out from the trees dragging a body.
"S-scar?" he stuttered, petrified.
"You're brother help me level up my sword skill, I hope you can do the same."
"N-no, please. Don't kill me. I'll do anything, just don't kill me." he begged for his life. Tears covered his face as he fell to his knees.
"Get up, Duke wont be part of this battle. Just you and me, you beat me and you can live." Ben stated.
Madness over came Dan as lunged at Ben.
'All I have to do is defeat you!'
Seeing the brother attack him, a small smile crept across Ben's face.

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
