《Beast God》Chapter 4

Ben woke up to a warm ray of sunshine in his face which was quickly changed to a warm tongue licking his face.

"Hahaha enough Duke, I'm alive and well. Just a bit sore."

Sitting up, Ben examined his body. His t shirt was mangled and covered in dry blood, same as his chest. Duke, in comparison, looked much better. The burnt skin was replaced by new pink skin and the fur was already starting to grow back. Ripping off his mangled shirt, he headed towards the bathroom to clean himself off.

'Right, no running water.'

With monsters and zombies running around it would be impossible to keep the power stations going across the country. Cell phones were also not working and Ben could only imagine the panic people were experiencing.

'Wait! The old man keeps a generator in the basement. Looks like I'll have to praise him next time I see him.'

Smiling to himself, Ben headed downstairs to start the generator. Glancing out the window Ben froze. The usual spacious yard was no where to be seen and what replaced it was trees- basically a damn forest!

'What the hell happened? Only a day had passed so how is this possible?'

"Duke lets check it out!" said Ben, unsheathing his Ninjato sword and heading outside.

The house was surrounded by countless trees- these weren't your little saplings either, these were full grown trees. Almost all of them were over a 30cms in diameter with some even larger. Vines had also started growing along the side of his home like mother nature was trying to take back what once was hers. Bennett saw multiple goblins sulking through the trees, as well a large rodents. These rodents were as large as a dog with brown colored fur. What surprised Ben was that some rodents were eating dead goblins while others were eating each other.

'It's time to leave,' thought Ben. Though he was reluctant on leaving his family home he knew that this area was no longer safe. Closing the door quietly, he headed back inside. Grabbing a backpack, he started to fill it with granola bars and other nonperishable food, he also packed a water bottle with a fresh pair of clothes.

He changed his clothes from the torn and bloody ones he was wearing. Grabbing a map of western Canada from his dad's room, as well as a compass, he tried to figure out where he should go. His parents were in Banff for vacation so he should start heading that way. It was over 550kms away from their house.

'I'll head to Lloydminster first and resupply.'

All though he wanted to avoid other people, he didn't have much of a choice if he wanted food and other supplies. Plotting his course, Ben stuffed the map in his backpack and headed outside.

"I will handled to goblins, you take those rat things." Ben told Duke before running towards the goblins.

*Slisshhh*

A goblins head went flying before it had the chance to cry out. Not hesitating, Ben moved to the closest goblin stabbing him through the chest.

'Adding those attribute points really do help,' thought Ben as he was testing out his new abilities. He was faster, stronger and quicker than before, making killing these goblins easy. If he faced that fire cow again he was confident that he could kill it without getting injured. Slaughtering all the goblins he could find, Ben looked over at Duke to see how he was doing.

Surrounding Duke were corpses of dead rodents, he was still fighting 2 but he could handle it. Watching Duke, Ben realized that his friend seemed to have gotten stronger as well. His movements were smoother and his strength seemed more explosive. Watching Duke kill the remaining rodents, Ben smiled to himself. 'We just might survive this after all.'

Opening up his stats panel, Ben frowned. 'I didn't level up after killing all those goblins?'

[Congratulations on getting to Level 10. After reaching Level 10 you will need to choose a class to help shape your future. Choose wisely.]

[Assessing human Bennett... complete.]

[Class options are:

Swordsman

Berserker

Tamer

Warrior

Knight

Soldier

...

...]

This list kept going. Ben knew that this was a big decision that would help him survive in this new world. Scrolling through the different classes, Ben noticed that some were different colors.

"What do the colors represent?" Ben asked the system, hoping for an actual answer.

[Color represents the difficulty of the class quest. Green- easy, yellow- medium, and red- hard. Golden colored classes are special classes that can be held by one person. The difficulty varies but on average it is more difficult than red but are also stronger than the other classes.]

"But how do I know what the class entails? There is no description for what the class entails." asked Bennett.

He was met with silence from the system. Grumbling to himself Ben continued to look through the available classes. He stopped on a particular class.

[Beast Warrior]

Looking at this class Ben felt the impulse to choose it. What stopped him was the color... it was gold.

Gold meant it would be extremely difficult class quest but in return, was stronger than the other colors. Though he had no idea what a 'Beast Warrior' was he had a gut feeling that it was the right class for him.

"Screw it! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Right Duke?"

*Bark! Bark!*

"Hahaha damn rights! I choose Beast Warrior class!" Ben yelled before clicking the class.

...

Somewhere not on Earth, an middle age man with greying hair was sitting on a stone throne. This man was a giant on a man, being well over 2m tall with rippling muscles covering his body. His eyes were closed and his face seemed to be peaceful.

A young woman came in wearing a bright green dress that hugged her body perfectly, showing a shapely figure.

"Master." she said as she bowed.

The man on the throne didn't open his eyes but said "Little Green I already told you that you didn't have to call me that. You're family." His voice was kind and gentle towards the young woman.

"I wouldn't dare master, you saved me from a life worse than death. Ill forever be in your service."

Letting out an exasperated sigh, the man asked, "What do you need Little Green?"

"I came to inform you that someone had chosen your class Beast Warrior from Earth." she answered nervously.

A deep grumble came from behind the throne, causing sweat to break out on Little Green's forehead.

"Easy Black." the man said and the grumbling stopped and Little Green sighed in relief.

The man didn't speak for awhile before finally saying, "Watch him Little Green and find out what kind of person he is. If he isn't up to standards kill him. We don't want another mistake happening."

"Yes master." Little Green turned to leave before the man spoke again.

"Also find out what his Inherited Skill is."

"Of course master." she turned and left the throne room.

The man sat in silence for a long time before saying to himself, "I'll just have a peak at this person. Just to see who exactly is trying to achieve my class."

Slowly opening his eyes, the room was blinded by a golden light for a second.
