《Beast God》Chapter 2

Bennett ran towards his house praying that Duke was okay. The dog had been with him majority of his life and held a special place in his heart. After clearing the trees Ben saw 6 goblins surrounding... Duke?
Ben could hardly recognize Duke as he looked completely different compared to the loving German Shepard he use to be. His shoulders stood at around 1 meter tall and was over 2 meters long, not included his tale. Duke's fur was pitch black while his eyes were blood red.
The goblins surrounded him, only attacking from behind. Duke growled viciously at the goblin before pouncing on him and biting his neck. With a quick shake of his head, Duke broke the neck of the goblin. It was the opportunity the goblins were waiting for.
The other 5 goblins all attacked at once. Duke tried to evade but the goblins seem to have some intelligence and grabbed his legs. Duke howled as he was being beaten to death by the goblins.
"Hold on buddy!" Ben yelled running towards Duke.
Distracted by Ben, Duke was able to kick free from the goblins holding his legs and quickly crushed the throat of the closet goblin. Ben caved in a goblins skull with his club. Duke and Ben made quick work the remaining 3 goblins.
*Ding*
*Ding*
Ben heard two soft dings in head but choose to ignore it. He was looking at Duke.
After killing the goblins Ben went to see if Duke was alright but Duke snarled at him. Confused and slightly hurt Ben was trying to calm him down.
"Duke, its me buddy. It's okay now." soothed Ben,
He must have evolved, he should still remember me though right?
Ben was worried, would he have to kill his best friend?
Taking a deep breath, Ben put down his club and slowly walked towards Duke. Duke continued to growl and even barked a couple times as a warning to Ben to stay away.

"Come on buddy it's me." Whispered Ben, reaching out his hand to touch Duke's head.
*Grrrr! Barkk!*
Duke bit Ben's hand, loud snaps could be heard from the bones breaking and blood starting to drip from Duke's mouth. Ben clenched his jaw but didn't pull back, he continued to talk to Duke in a soothing voice.
"That hurt bud but its okay. Remember the time I ran over you with the quad? I guess this is pay back. Hahaha" Ben laughed softly. He slowly reached out with his other hand and petted Duke's head.
Duke's growl slowly faded before stopping completely. Ben noticed his the brightness in his red eyes dimmed a bit before hearing-
[Congratulations on taming a demonic beast! You are the first to accomplish this and will be rewarded with 2 levels and a weapon.]
*Ding*
*Ding*
Duke let go of Ben's hand before licking it and whining guiltily.
Ben let out a light laugh before saying, "It's okay buddy, all is forgiven." Rubbing his head on Ben's leg the wolf still looked guilty of what had happened.
On the ground, beside Duke, was a sword. It was around 70cm long with a straight singled edged blade. It looked lethal and deadly. Picking it up it's stats were revealed.
Ninjato Sword
+2 STR
+2 DEX
+1 AGI
Upgradable
Its a nice bonus to my stats. Killing goblins should be no problem now.
Tying the swords sheath around his waist, Ben slid the sword into it's sheath. Taking a deep breath Ben tried to steady himself. A lot had happened in the last 20 minutes and it was a little overwhelming. Letting out a sigh Ben made his way into his house. His family was on vacation in the mountains so no one was home. Looking at the family picture on the wall Ben became worried for his family.

"What am I worried about? Dad is with them."
Bennett's dad, Joe, was an extremely dependable man. He worked hard and took care of his family. He was a hard ass but Ben knew he'd keep them safe.
"Grayson is probably having a great time." muttered Ben.
His younger brother loved fantasy stories and games. To be able to live one just might be his dream come true.
Grabbing the first aid kit from the bathroom, Ben sat down at the kitchen table and tried to bandage his hand using only one hand. The task was near impossible. Frustrated, he threw the bandage on the floor. Looking at his hand, he realized it wouldn't matter that much anyway. Bones were broken and sticking out of the skin.
He felt like crying. Would he have to cut of this hand? It wouldn't heal right and become useless if he left it like this. The closet hospital was over 50kms away. He debated on whether to drive his truck into town but decided against it. More populated areas would be dangerous. Highly spawn rate for the monsters would happen in densely populated areas, not to mention the zombies infecting everyone. Ben also knew that the worst of humanity would appear using this opportunity to steal, kill and rape.
Deciding against it, Ben opened his stats.

Looking at his stats he had an idea.
"Add 2 points to vitality." A warm feeling was felt throughout Ben's body. Looking at his hand he could see it slowly start to heal on its own. Though it would still take a week or so to heal, he was elated.
"Vitality speeds up the bodies ability to heal. Ill put one more point into vitality and put the last two points into dexterity." He choose dexterity because to be able to react to incoming attacks was vital in his mind. Feeling that familiar warmth over his body, Ben looked at his stats again.

Noticing the new tab saying 'Tamed Beasts' Ben clicked on it, a new panel appeared.

Ben was shocked at Duke's stats! They were way higher than his even though he was only 2 levels above Ben!
This is unfair!
Ben found out that beasts intelligence stat was actually based on their intelligence and had nothing to do with magic. Demonic beasts were unable to use magic until they evolved high enough.
At least he is on my side, Ben thought, looking at the loyalty.
Ben smiled before closing the panel. His hand was healing a little faster than before but it would still take some time. Ben stood up from the table and decide to test his new stats out.
"Come on Duke!" Ben said before Duke followed him outside.

I hope you can find enjoyment in it nonetheless.
