Qin Yun looked dumbfoundedly at the front. His eyes blanked out and his four limbs had stiffened, as though his soul has left his body. He glanced at Su Yijun and felt like thousands of thunders stuck besides him. The felling of familiarity he felt towards her grew even stronger.
Why… Why does aunt resembles her so much… It is because of the Ice Phoenix Divine Art but even then, it shouldn’t be so much resemblance… What’s going on, even their surname is the same…
Qing Yun eyes already lost their focus as the image of a graceful figure appeared in his mind. She was akin to a fairy with snow white skin, ‘a face of snow and lips of pearls’.
Qing Yun couldn’t forget those years when she followed behind him with a cold countenance. She followed his every whim without any word of complaint even when she was compleltely disregarded by Qing Yun. Back then his mind was filled with rage and thoughts of revenge, he didn’t spare any place for anything else in his heart. He just happened to save her once and she started following him since then.
Qing Yun mouth violently trembled as his heart was shrouded in pain. Every action he took back then made him feel great regret. It was just after it was too late that he realized what was the most important to him. He made the same mistake too many times and that left him in a world full of regrets. At the end of his road to revenge, Qing Yun found himself with her frail body in his arms. In her last moments, as she gently caressed Qing Yun tear stained cheeks, she had a blissful smile on her face.
She spoke her last words with a blissful voice that seemed to come from the very dephts of her heart and soul...

"Thank you and... you did enough... we are are grateful to you... you... saved us...
It was later when he found out that she was from the same sect as his master.
…
“Big Brother Yun, are you alright?” Qing Su worried voice woke Qing Yun up.
“Yun’er, what’s wrong, do you fell unwell?!”
“Ah… No, I’m alright mother, Su’er I’m just a bit dizy.” Qing Yun responded with a light smile.” Mother you still look a little pale, were you poisoned?” Qing Yun asked as he change the subject.
“Ah! Qing Yun, you don’t have to worry, sister Yin is alright, but it looks that you still need to rest for a while. You slept for ten years so your body needs a little time to accommodate now that you woke up.”
All four of them became restless when Qing Shui asked about the poison but he didn’t pursue the matter.
“Big Brother Yun are you really alright?” Qing Su couldn’t help but ask in worry as she saw Qing Yun pale countenance.
“Hehe, don’t worry, now that I woke up how could I bare to leave our Little Su behind!” Qing Yun smiled and patted Qing Su’s head.
“Alright, I think we should go a let little friend Yun rest for a while.” Su Xiang said.
The three ladies nodded, the worry in their eyes was apparent as they all saw Qing Yun unnatural expression.
“Um, uncle Xiang, aunt Yijun, I… um, do you… perhaps… have a daughter?” Qing Yun tried to sound as natural as possible but it was a complete fail.
The four of them were stunned. They could see the surge of emotions in Qing Yun’s eyes, but none could understand the reason. This question wouldn’t be so weird if asked at another time, but why would Qing Yun ask such a question now?

“Yes, we have a daughter,” Su Yijun said, still feeling perplexed. She saw that Qing Yun started to regain his calm, “But Xiuying is not here now, she left to train with her master”
Qing Yun surprisingly regained his calm when he heard Su Yijun replay.
“Alright, Yun’er, we’ll go now. Rest well, we’ll come to check on you later.” They were still looking at Qing Yun doubtfully but didn’t inquire anymore and left once Qing Yin voice sounded.
Qing Yun was left alone in the room. He stared blankly into space as if his soul left him.
…
“This old man changed your destiny slightly, but it’s up to you to shape it. It has been a while since I meet such an interesting human so I want to bet on you. Remember, do not dwell in the past, take a hold of your destiny and let your will shape it. In this martial world just the strong have the right to speak. If you want to stand above others you have to be strong…”
…
The old monster’s parting words resounded inside Qing Yun head like a thunder.
Azure Dragon Continent
Divine Wind Empire
GreenCloud Region
Su Clan
Su Xiuying
Ice Phoenix Palace
Dots after dots appeared inside Qing Yun’s mind one after another giving shape to an unbelievable thought.
No, this was something Qing Yun already knew, but he didn’t want to believe, no, he didn’t dare to believe. After all, this was too crazy of an idea. How could something so good be true… Was this even something possible? Could something so heaven defying even happen?!
But now that everything was laid in front of him, just an idiot will try to deny it, no, even if this was just a spontaneous assumption of his, he will still choose to believe it…
Qing Yun eyes were red as his body trembled uncontrollably.
“Ha…Ha…Hahahahaha! So that’s how it is!!” Qing Yun let out a frenzied laughter.
“Old dogs from Demon Gate this time for sure… I, Qing Yun, swear that I’m gonna make you regret your dog lives!!”
“Master, Xiuying, Xiao Mei, wait for me…”
I am back!!

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
