《Heavenly Will》Chapter 5 - A New Hope - Part 2 - Heavenly Tribulation

Qing Yun consciousness slowly fell into darkness.
As he opened his eyes he found himself surrounded by a dark green fog. Looking closely, the fog contained traces of lighting.
Damn, what’s going on… Did the poison flared up? How is this happening, it shouldn’t have this much potency left.
Qing Yun expression was grave. He tried to move his body just to find that he was immobilized, he couldn’t even open his mouth. But what frightened him even more was the lighting inside the green fog.
This… Five colored lighting? A heavenly tribulation… It can’t be, what’s going on, what the heck is this thing? This is not poison, what the heck is doing inside my body?
Qing Yun was really terrified. He couldn’t help but shiver when he saw the five colored lighting. The lightings were small and thin as they wiggled inside the green fog. They looked like small worms formed from lighting. However, Qing Yun knew how terrifying those small threads of lighting were.
A heavenly tribulation! In this world, when someone tried to go against the laws of haven and earth they will have to undergo a tribulation. In was something common for cultivators. The stronger one becomes the stronger the repulsion of heaven and earth will be. Cultivating means going against the heaven and earth to achieve immortality.
Yes, it was something common in the five continents. But in all history of the five continents no one could summon a multicolored tribulation. Not even a two colored tribulation, and this was a five colored one. How could Qing Yun not be frightened?
A multi colored lighting would be called a heavenly tribulation. It is said that one would have to go through a heavenly tribulation when trying to breakthrough to divinity realm. But there were no records of someone summoning a heavenly tribulation let alone successfully passing it.

It was a world regulation. In the five continents a humans growth was limited, no one could attain divinity, they couldn’t even touch the threshold of that realm.
Qing Yun tried to calm down and glanced around him. He couldn’t move his head so he tried to assess as much as possible with his eyes.
The last thing I remember is that I feel asleep on the roof… How did I end up like this?
The only thing he could see around him was the green fog that contained the five colored lighting… Contained? A sudden thought hit Qing Yun like lighting.
This… What’s going on?
As he glanced at the the green fog, Qing Yun realized that the five colored lighting was trying to break free from it. Qing Yun was stunned. What was going on… The green fog kept the five colored lighting from harming him!
Qing Yun mind was a surging perplexity. He wore a puzzled expression as he didn’t know what to think anymore.
I was wrong… No, this fog is indeed poison, or more likely a poisonous aura. This aura was indeed weakened. I thought that it’s a good thing but… this couldn’t much worse. Since it lost it’s power, the aura won’t be able to contain the lighting anymore.
Qing Yun regained his calm and assessed the situation. Although he was surprised by this unfolding of events, he still regained his composure pretty quickly. Qing Yun’s mental prowess was not something to be taken lightly. How many times did he glared death in the eyes. Although this situation was dangerous, it was able to faze him just for a moment.
Even so, Qing Yun’s mind was still surging with questions… Why was a heavenly tribulation inside his body? What exactly was this poisonous aura? If it was an aura, that meant that someone put it inside him. But who exactly was that person and how strong was he. To be able to contain a heavenly tribulation just with his aura… What realm did that person achieved?

The more he thought about it the more confused Qing Yun became. All of those were still beyond his comprehension!
Boom!
Suddenly, a roaring boom was heard from inside the green fog. Qing Yun looked at the fog with a grave expression on his face. He could see tiny cracks appearing on the fog.
Damn!
Qing Yun knew that once the lighting breaks free from the fog he will undoubtedly die. What a joke! Who on the five continents could withstand a heavenly tribulation? He was just a kid without any cultivation whatsoever.
If it was before, he would just resign himself to fate, but now, for the first time in his two lives a bitter feeling was surging from his entire being… The will to survive! It was not because he was afraid of death.
If I were to die, what about mother and Su’er? Would they cry, would they feel sad?
That bitter feeling made it’s way into his heart as streams of tears poured down on his face. He knew that feeling to well. He found himself in that place many times in the past. He knew how painful is to be left behind by your loved ones.
The heartache was like a red hot coal placed in your chest, it glowed and burned at the same time, but it did not cool quickly like a coal in water, it throbbed and tortured one in their walking hours and there would be no relief to be found!
Boom!
A single thread of lighting finally broke free from the fog and shoot through Qing Yun’s body with unbelievable speed!
Aaaaahhhhhh!
In his intense silence Qing Yun somehow screamed with his whole body. The eyes wide with horror, the mouth rigid and open, his chalky face gaunt and immobile, the fists clenched with blanched knuckles and the nails digging deeply into the palms of his hand.
The pain was unbearable. It felt like every part of his body was splitting apart at this very moment.
Qing Yun consciousness was fading away. There was nothing he could do, he could just resign himself to fate. With his last thread of willpower he saw the green fog dissipating completely as thousands of lighting threads were shot towards him.
It seems… this is the end.
“Hehe”
As Qing Yun was waiting for his end a melodious laughter sounded suddenly. The laughter gave of an ephemeral feeling that could warm up one’s very soul. It was like the blooming of flowers, exquisite and fragrant.
Qing Yun’s consciousness shook as he heard that laughter. The expression on his face couldn’t be described as various emotions were present on it. His body trembled as he was trying to move and say something, but it was futile, eventually his consciousness faded away…
“Hehe”
…
Qing Yun consciousness gradually awakened.
What’s going on… How is it that I have not died? I vividly remember that I was struck by the heavenly tribulation, how can I still be alive! Somehow my body is not in pain… And I do not even feel the slightest discomfort? How is this happening?
Qing Yun suddenly opened his eyes as he sat up. He found himself in a comfortably soft bed, but this was not his room.
“Ah! Big brother Yun! You… You woke up!
A girl’s trembling voice was heard from his ear and the same girl appeared in his line of sight.
Qing Yun froze as he saw the young lady before him...

"I don't know who you think you are coming here, and acting like you don't care about anything. Now listen here Princess, because I'm not going to repeat myself. Here's a couple of rules that I'd like to enlighten upon you. Number one, you do not talk back to me. And two, you don't mess with me or the rules," his breath fans my face and I close my eyes. The proximity between us was terrifying. "I've dealt with many bitches like you, so I suggest that you follow those rules unless you want to end up like them," - he leans in. His mouth lingers near my ear, "used."... "... You might think that you run this place, but you do not run me. Understand? And the sooner you understand that, the better it'll be for the both of us," I warn staring right into his eyes before walking away. I was more than amused by his dumbfounded expression. On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
