《Life Once Again》Chapter 52

Empress Mavis Pov.

I stood a few feet away, cloaking myself while watching as the battle of my father and Solis went on. I made sure to use my eyes to their fullest capacity so as to observe all he did. His orientation of concepts, both for chi and aura, were the most...interesting I had ever seen and watching it transform from one attribute to another seamlessly gave me immense pleasure.

I also made sure to protect the two other dragons who would have been caught up in the attacks of Solis. From where I was standing, I could feel the heat of the flames. The ground surrounding me had long melted into magma and I had to beef up the shielding of those two wayward dragons. Then my eyes caught on to something interesting.

‘Ohh? What is this? Void? He has access to the void? How did he conceptualize it? And long before his divinity has been sparked. Knowing him, and from what I see, his saturation has long passed the point of birthing a bloodline. Does that mean the void is now part of his bloodline? Then his children will inherit the void?’

It was beautiful in it’s complexity, the void, and didn’t have a lot of opportunities to see it in action. Solis took point with his sword and initiated a slash that seemed to bypass space and time. Unfortunately for him-

‘Nobody is able to touch father without his permission.’

I watched the final interaction between them, marveling as my father took control of time and space in his immediate surroundings and bending the attack away. I watched the aftermath in interest before coming out to meet my father after Solis closed his portal.

“So, what do you think?” I asked father and observed his bleeding cheek with interest. He didn’t answer so I asked again.

“You must have liked him to allow his strike to reach you.” I saw my father ponder for a few seconds.

“Hmmmm” He just hummed.

‘He’s thinking quite hard isn’t he?’ I thought.

“Anything on your mind?” I asked, curious of the answer. He stayed silent for a few seconds before he answered.

“I can only think of three or four young dragons who might be his match in both skill and talent, and of those, only two of them are my descendants.” My eyes sharpened at that.

“My children, I hope?” I asked in a light tone as I narrowed my eyes at him. He smiled at me.

“Ohh my vicious little girl, you know your children barely have any dragon blood in them. They do not even have enough to transform into full dragons hence, they cannot be considered dragons.”

“And talent wise?” I asked, my eyes glowing brighter.

“They are talented, sure, but that talent does not come from their dragon side like yours did. Rather, it came more from their fae and human side. I don’t feel like I’m standing in front of any sort of dragon in their presence.” He paused for a bit before continuing.

“And you know better than to ask me questions you know the answer to.” I did know.

I also knew that both my children were just as talented, if not more talented than Solis. My father just hated my husband with a passion and my children got a little bit of that. He would never admit to the excellence of my children because he hated it when I married my husband instead of who he had lined up for me and that would be him admitting that I made the right choice. I smirked.

‘And what are dragons if not prideful creatures.’ My smirk turned a little vicious.

‘It is still a bit irritating for him to discredit my children though. No worries, for they will surpass and stand above their generation. And that includes every race.’

Solis Pov.

The next few days were better in terms of behaviour of the dragons. I was currently on my way to the resort to look at the progress the builders had on the construction. As I walked out of the portal, I looked at the surroundings with a smile on my face.

‘He really is good.’ I had to hand it to the master builder.

He, along with his workers, had built out the road system more than I thought he would, and had made headway in setting up the smaller portals to connect the whole extended city. They had started up some buildings, like the main building directly beneath the large floating mountain in the centre of the formation that contained the main whitefyre orb that powers the whole thing.

I took a quick look around before returning to my office. There was nothing for me to do yet as they had to get to a certain level of construction before I started on another layer of arrays.

I left my office for a while and took a stroll. I immediately noticed the signature of the red dragon on a roof adjacent to me and felt his gaze.

‘What is this now?’ I just ignored it and continued on my stroll, though I still felt him following me.

I continued on when I met one of the most unlikely people on my stroll. The black dragon that I had taught a lesson to was standing in front of me and looking at me with a serious expression. Some bigger dragons, that I’m assuming are his guards, were standing behind him and joining him to stare at me.

‘I thought I only had to beat a dragon once before it stopped being a nuisance.’ I walked up to him with a serene smile on my face.

“Is there anything I can do for you?”

“This one did not expect that there would be children that wield that much power, let alone human children. You have yet to enter a score in age and have already advanced to this stage of strength.” He replied immediately.

‘And? What does your musing have to do with me? And did you just call me a child? Well, whatever.’ I just raised my eyebrows as I thought, waiting for him to elaborate.

“As a person who managed to best this one in single combat, I have come to gauge your intentions with the princess.”

‘What?’

“This one has come here with the mission of taking the princess as my main wife and having her bear plentiful children with mine and the dragon king’s bloodline. I-”

“Still running your mouth I see?” The red dragon dropped down from the roof of a building.

‘Finally decided to come down?’ I looked in his direction before sighing.

‘I knew dragons were a little obstinate and thick headed but this is taking it to a whole other level.’

“Cur, this one is speaking with someone of importance now. Mind your manners.”

‘Ohh, so he did learn respect.’

“Hmmp, so what. Don’t think you can have the princess just because you got to him first.” The red dragon said.

‘I think you guys are misunderstanding something here, if that woman hears you talking like this she would-’

“Get the princess?”

‘I just jinxed myself.’
