Chapter 58 Jackpot!

I woke up and glanced at my watch, it is 3:12 am. Guess I did sleep a lot during the day. Getting out of bed, this time Ki'Diera does not wake up as I look at her beautiful sleeping face, her blue hair crowning her. I have a sudden impulse to kiss her, but fight it, as I do not want to wake her.

I move to look at Julie, she is sleeping soundly. I see the ring still has a soft glow to it. I move back to Ki'Diera and look at her ring, it is no longer glowing. So the ring is healing whatever happened to them.

I move to Cindy and see her sleeping face. But she is in pain it seems, unlike Julie and Ki'Diera her sleep seems fitful. Her ring is glowing brighter than Julies. I grab her left hand with both of mine.

Cindy please be ok honey.

Scott help me............. I could barely hear her, it was distant and far away and she sounded in pain.

CINDY!! I scream in my head willing myself to her somehow. I am concentrating on her with all my thoughts, my heart beat is speeding up and I feel my adrenaline pumping as well. I slowly open my eyes to look at her, and see we are both covered in a red glow, the same glow she had before during the event when she got possessed.

I feel pain inside me growing, getting hotter and I try to let go of her hands but they will not move. Giving up that idea I concentrate back on Cindy, the pain is growing stronger, it feels almost like the Resurrection pain. Let me help you Cindy!! I will not lose you! I throw my entire being into helping her, willing her to get better. I feel my mana and my willpower draining at an alarming rate, the pain grows even worse, Ki'Diera cries out in pain as well. I glance a look at her and she too is glowing red now, as is Julie, but Julie makes no sound.

Ki'Diera cries, alarms Doc Snow and the others, the female nurse and several maids, who rush into the room and stop when they see all four of us glowing red.

“Scott what is going on!”, Doc Snow demands looking hesitantly at us. The female nurse and maids who entered with Doc Snow back away.

The glow grows stronger and pulses, now I cry out in pain, as does Ki'Diera and now Julie joins in as well, all three of us are crying out. Only Cindy does not cry out in pain, her body is convulsing, I hold tightly onto her hand now.

The last thing I see before I black out is

NOTICE!Congratulations! A Forced Soul Link has been successfully

I also hear, awww you are no fun! it was not Cindy's voice, I black out after.

I awaken, and find myslef in a bed in the infirmary once again, it is starting to become a habit it seems.

I find Julie and Ki'diera are snuggled up against me on either side. Both are awake and watching me. Both smile when they see me awaken.

Julie leans in and kisses me on the cheek, “ You know sweetheart you need to make a ring for yourself too, you keep thinking about others, but forget about yourself at times.” She complains to me. “If you die, we all die too, you know that right?”

Those words hit me hard, if I die they die too.

“You are right Kitten, it will be very next thing I make!” I say to her, realizing the danger I have been putting them in.

“Soooo, since it is a if you die we die deal, how about from now on you always include us too?” She now purrs to me in a sexy voice.

“I thought I did that when we went Were-beast hunting” I say in defense.

"Yes you did , but you also brought all those soldiers along too.” she says,” I am talking about when you decide to go off on your own to save everyone from something.”

“You know my warrior, we are not as weak as we may seem to you,” Ki'Diera adds

“I realize that princess, but the children.....” I start to object.

“Sweetheart, the pregnancies are just starting, I have not even begun my morning sickness yet, and that is still many weeks away according to the Doctors”, Julie intervenes,” we are not fragile dolls, Scott.”

“I know....” I could not answer that.

“So it is settled all future missions Captain Smith goes on will include us” Julie Smiles.

"I am not a Captain, never was, never will be, I was a Master Gunnery Sergeant” I complain again defensively.

“Ahhh Master!” Ki'Diera purrs now, he body too purrs softly.

“How about Cindy, is she ok?” I ask changing the subject.

“She is sleeping again, the ring is healing her it seems. So you added her to the Soul Link too now?” Julie says to me

“I did?” I ask confused, then I remember the last message and then the voice, but I do not tell the girls about it.

She and Julie are the same levels and almost identical in many ways.

Then I look at my status and see we all now share the Health Mana and Stamina pool. And of course she got my Sexual Stamina now too.

“According to her health status she is fine, but she still has not awoken”. I say a little concerned.

“It could be that the ring in conjunction with the Soul Link helped us” Julie says thinking it over.

“It is possible......I heard her call out for help in my mind” I say as I remember the events “She seemed as if she was in great pain”. Then I look at my watch, it is 11:05am.” wow I was out that long?” I say to them.

“Yeah you were knocked out, Doc snow had you put in the bed again to monitor you, even said something about making a permanent bed for you here as he left” Julie snickers.

“I hope this is the last time to be honest, it is really getting embarrassing.”, I say lightly,”But since I am up I need to crank out some Bracelets, and maybe add some more rings for the rest too”.

“First yourself Scott, promise me” Julie says to me in a pleading voice.

“Yes, I will make my ring first sweetheart.” I reply to her.

I get out of bed and head for a chair nearby, as I walk I equip my new preset 1, which is my full combat gear for all the stat bonuses. I then remember I never modified Julie or Cindy's bracelet. I turn around and head back to the bed with Julie and Ki'Diera in it.

“Forget something sweetheart?”, Julie smiles.

“Bahh I need to see the object I am copying and I need to upgrade your's and Cindy's bracelet too” I say to her slightly embarrassed.

Julie holds out her hand that has the ring, I grab hold and finger the ring and begin to copy it. It feels easier each time I do this with the ring, so knowing something and repeating the process ingrains it into memory probably and allows for faster reproduction. 13 min pass, and a new ring appears in my left hand. I also get a skill up message on Reality Manipulation. It took two rings this time to level up. I place the ring on my right index finger and it bonds with me. I notice almost immediately my mana regeneration shot up as did my willpower regen. Oh I should have done this sooner.

I look and it cost 8850 mana and took 89 willpower points to copy the ring. So it seems each time I copy something new or create a new item, I get hit with an initial cost, then each further time it only costs 10% as much? I will have to test this later. It almost sounds like learning recipes in a game, you pay a high price to get a recipe, then after you have it you can crank out the items.

I then modify the bracelet on Julie left wrist. It goes faster and only 2650 mana used instead of the nearly 3000 earlier. 17 points of willpower was used too. My regen is now 157 with the ring on, where as without the ring it was only 56, and my tick on willpower is at 105. The regen on willpower occurs once a minute instead of per second like all the others.

I smile at the new updates, with this I can crank out the bracelets for everyone. But I need almost 600 of them. So in 10 hours time I can have them all done.

I sit back and begin to copy the bracelet over and over non stop. Once an hour or so I get up to walk around to stretch my legs. Ki'Diera brought me lunch and then later dinner, as I continued the process, determined to get it done. Each time it seems just a bit easier, concentration wise, but no reduction occurs until a skill up happens. After 5 hours I stopped gaining skill ups completely, it seems diminishing returns are in effect when copying something over and over.

Than as 10 pm hits, I finish the last one, 600 bracelets done, skill level 29 was the max I could attain with the Bracelets, giving me a 15% reduction in mana costs. Satisfied, I get up and stretch my legs once more and look to see Julie and Ki'Diera are sleeping on the bed again. Doc Snow had released Ki'Diera, but Julie still had to stay one more day. Cindy still slept, I checked on her every so often when I stretched my legs, taking her hand and calling to her, but no answer ever came.

I went and laid in a bed, that was free, and fell soundly asleep in no time. My dream was fitful, I kept re-dreaming the three births, but this time it as a dream, not like last. I kept going back to the moment where Cindy in a fit of rage, hits me with a fireball. Each time the ball hits me in my dream I would open my eyes briefly and wake up, then close them to sleep again trying to see if there was maybe more to the dream. Nothing more appears other than that, but something was there and I am just not seeing it.

I wake up once more, and see Cindy is still asleep. Julie and Ki'Diera are up and talking to Doc Snow quietly. They see me rising, I had left my uniform on overnight.

“Ahh Scott you're awake!” Doc Snow says with a smile.”I see you overdid it again”. He eyes the pile of Bracelets on the floor.

“Yeah but it was worth it Doc”, I reach down and grab one and toss it to him. He catches the bracelet awkwardly fumbling with it, then eyes the bracelet and reads the info on it. His eyes widen and then slowly puts it on.

“This is amazing Scott, with this many of our little problems will go away, like talking with the Ny'Har'en,” Doc Snow says looking intently at the bracelet.

“Yeah and you can also talk to the Builders now too.” I say to him.

“The Builders? They can talk?” he asks.

“No, but you can read their minds and understand and speak their language now”, I say to him as he looks on at the bracelet in wonder.

"I am going to go take a shower, then get something to eat” I say to everyone, I check on Cindy once more taking her hand and call out to her with my mind, but there is still no answer from her.

“She will be fine Scott, I can feel it in me” Julie says soothingly, wrapping her arms around me from behind.

“Yeah I can feel it too, it seems the Soul Link was more than I previously thought, I can feel her more direct now. She is getting better.” I say with a sigh. I turn and kiss Julie, then break away and head for the shower.

After the shower I head for the Cafeteria to grab breakfast, and Rick is already there having coffee, Patterson, Foutz, Jackson, Johnson, and Cortez are at the table with him. “Mind if I join you folks? I ask politely.

“By all means Scott have a seat!” Rick says hurriedly.

“Scott this bracelet is amazing!” Johnson says smiling.” with this thing I feel so much more secure.

“Yeah everyone who got one is the envy of all”, Says Jackson.

“Well no worries there, I made 600 more and if needed, I can make more” I say to them as I dig into my breakfast.

“si...six, did you say six hundred more Scott?” Rick asks in awe, his eyes go wide, the rest stop what they are doing and stare at me in amazement.

I see them all staring at me,” What? It took over 10 hours to do it and wore my ass out” I say to them not understanding their reactions.

Rick simply shakes his head but says nothing.

“I am sure everyone will be delighted at receiving the bracelets, last night I had a long talk with some of the Ny'Har'en folks, even got me a date with one of the Ny'Har'en girls haha.” Johnson laughs.

“You sure it is a date Johnson? They mate for life you know. No exceptions” I say to him lightly.

His face goes pale as he looks at me, “you serious man? You shitting me?”

“Yeah I am serious, why do you think Ki'Diera and I got married?” I say to him.

“Oh fuck me....no fucking way, oh shit!” Johnson starts to moan. We all begin to laugh as we know what has already happened. Johnson did the deed last night with his lady friend from the Ny'Har'En and not knowing, is now her Soul Mate.

As Johnson runs off to look for his lady frined to confirm what I said, I turn to Rick” ok so those 600 bracelets, if you can distribute those, I can start on the rings then, till Cindy wakes up”.

“You are going to copy those rings too Scott? Can you do that many?” Rick asks concerned.

I believe so, it just takes time now, the worst part is over. It seems I have to pay an initial cost to create or copy something new, not knowing ahead what that cost is is what has knocked me on my butt. But I think I have general idea now.” I say to him confidently.

“With those two items alone, Scott you have no idea how much it will mean to us all.” Rick says to me.” you know I wonder if the ring can heal the mind too, those girls for example?” He says referring to the girls from the Mall.

“I really doubt that Rick, that is psychological damage, not bodily.” I reply with a grim expression.” I really wish we had someone qualified to help them, as it is, we are just watching and comforting them, they need counseling and more.”

We talk some more at the table and as I am about to leave,” Rick if anyone sees those Drow, shoot first, do not hesitate. They will try to kill you without a second thought. If anything, they are worse than the creatures we have faced so far.”

“I will let them know Scott, and I will send some people to get the bracelets and distribute them.” Rick assures me.

I had back to the infirmary, and find that there is no change with Cindy. Doc Snow is doing some more paperwork at his desk. Julie and Ki'Diera are gone, Doc said they went to our room. By coincidence, at that moment Julie is thinking to me excitedly.

Scott you have got to come and see this!!

Wha..what is it Julie?

Just come Scott, hurry!!

I rush out of the inifirmary and head to my room. I climb the stairs running, not knowing what to expect, but Julie sounded excited, not sure if it was good or bad. I rush thru the door and stop almost immediately. Our room had been transformed by the Builders. All the rooms would be transformed at some time during the upgrade, but this was unexpected.

Julie and Ki'Diera are jumping up and down in delight when they see me. I look about the room. And it is all covered in white, floors, the walls, the bed, oh my the bed, it is bigger than king sized. It is now KING super sized! Each of the tables, night stands, side tables, all have a white lacquer marble top on them. All the desks and drawers are white, not sure what kind of material it is, but all have gold inlays in them in fancy designs.

The Laps are all Gold with white Shades on them. I walk to one of the lamps and pick it up, it is heavy, very heavy, like pure gold heavy. I also see some silver in some of the designs around the room. But the gold here is incredible. The room is very luxurious, more than fit for a king. The White Canopy top on the bed is gorgeous in design with white silk curtains. I am dumbstruck by it all.

"This is amazing sweetheart, I can not wait to sleep in that bed tonight! It looks so comfortable “ Julie say in delight.

“A room fit for a King and his Queens” Ki'Diera says proudly.

I walk over and sit on the Sofa, it is bigger as well and softer, yet it does not give too much as I sit down, the cushioning feels of an unfamiliar material “This is simply incredible.” I say astounded. I then jump up. A thought hit me.

“Scott what is it?” Julie asks concerned

“I just had an idea, I will be right back.” I rush out the room and look frantically for one of the Builders and see some by another room.

“(Good morning!)", I say to them in their language, as I approach them.

They each glance at me and smile “(Good morning your Majesty, we hope you liked your room.)” One of them thinks to me.

“(I did indeed, it was overwhelming, you all did a great job)” I smile to them.” (but I am curious, where did all the gold come from?)”

“(No where, it already existed, we just simply brought it out.)” he smiles at me.

“(I do not understand, sorry)” I say to him confused.

“(Remember we are a race that specializes in Science and Transformation magics)” He thinks to me,” (So we simply transformed what was already there to what you see now)”

“(So you can transform stuff into gold?)” , I ask in amazement.

“(Yes it is a simple process, but the closer the item is to the intended material the easier it is for us)”. He thinks.

“(I get it I think, kind of like an Alchemist turning lead into gold)” , I say to him

“(That would be a correct analogy)”, he replies in thought.

“(So if I were to bring you a lot of lead, you could turn it into gold for me?)” I ask with a questioning look.

“(We could, but why would you need the gold?)” He asks, now his tone turning sour.

I smile to him, "(So I can keep you all around longer and rehire you for the next 9 upgrades)”.

“(It has been a very long time since we have been able to communicate with another species, it has been fun and entertaining for us, we will simply be sent to another job when this is over, so staying here is pleasing to us. Please bring us any metal you can find and we will gladly transform it for you)”. He says his smile returning.

I smile inwardly JACKPOT!!!

“(Thank you for all you have done for us, and I will gather the metal right away and have it in the courtyard for you.)” I say to him very happy.

"(Very well there are 13 days left on this upgrade, the next one will take long and cost quite bit more. You might want to prioritize the upgrades to the walls and add more towers, then upgrade the keep itself to save costs.)” He thinks to me advising me.

“(Thank you very much, I never caught your name)” I ask of him.

“(We have no names. We simply feel one another, and can tell by each one's presence who is who)” He replies smiling to me.

“(Well that kind of complicates communication does it not?)” I ask

“(For someone who is accustomed to such yes it does, but for us, who go by feel of presence, no not at all.)" He replies smiling.

“(Thank you again I will get the metals gathered)”, I say to him one last time and rush away.

I look for Rick and find him and Bre'Tirgan talking, Bre'Tirgan has a bracelet on already. They both see me and smile at my approach.

“Rick, Bre'Tirgan I need you get as many people together as possible and scour the area for any metal and bring it to the courtyard” I laugh in joy while speaking to them.

Both look at me with confused looks.
