Oh I never said this was a tragedy, shame on you guys for getting upset over little something temporary as death hehe.

About her being levels higher than the guy who shot her, and the heart shot, based on games like AD&D, even level 1's can kill a level 100 if they roll good, like double 20's. So based on that he got lucky killing her. Her shield is only active when she wants it to be. She is not bullet proof. Neither is Scott but his toughness is much higher than hers.

Why have health in this story if guns rule all with one shot? For now that may seem like the case and may not make sense right now, but give it time, it will make sense eventually to you, I promise :)

Chapter 30

I sit and watch the Doc performing CPR, my mind racing. How did this fucking happen? We went to confront Mark to stop harassing Julie and this shit happens? Julie please don't leave me. I will give anything to save her, please god help me!

Doc is working furiously on Julie, but she is not responding. I notice something odd in the room, Cindy is crying looking on, her hands folded together, praying, Sheriff is holding his shoulder, with a sadness in his eyes watching the Doc.

I see others all watching, they are all young. All of them, except Doc. He is still old. He has not been initiated yet.

I jump at Doc and rip him away from Julie, a thought hit me.

“Doc do you swear fealty to me! To heal me and the people of this Barony so help you god?” I yell at him with a ferocious voice more than I had intended..

Stunned, the Doc answers in a weak voice” ye, yes, I swear...”

"Then as Baron I declare you to be my personal physician and bestow upon you the profession, Healer of the Barony, to heal, cleanse disease and poisons, Cure wounds, restore limbs and body parts and last but not least the ability to resurrect the dead. Let it be known to all!!” I declare.

Th doc still stunned not comprehending at first, but is suddenly covered in a blue light. He falls to his side and screams in pain thrashing about like a wild man. I watch on waiting, sweating as the seconds pass, praying.

It passes and a young doc slowly rises himself with wild eyes, trying to understand what just happened.

“SAVE HER NOW!!” I yell at him and point to Julie.

He looks at me confused then to Julie, then back at me and nods, not word spoken. He places his hands on her, a green glow emits from them as he closes his eyes....after a a few seconds pass,” There has to be an offering, a sacrifice of sorts to fulfill the resurrection.” He says in an awed and whispered voice.

“I offer myself...DO IT NOW!” I growl at him.

He places one hand on me and one hand on Julie, the green glow Starts at Julie then creeps up his arm, enveloping his body then onto his other arm leading to me. I see the green glow approaching me and I close my eyes waiting for what comes next, if it costs me my life so be it, I give it willingly.

“YES!!!!” I yell no hesitation.

NOTICE!Resurrection will now begin!

The Green Glow intensifies, the Doc is the conduit between both of us I feel as if my soul is being torn out of me and I cry out in agony. There is pain like I have never felt before, worse than when I was initiated, I feel my mana being depleted at an alarming rate, my health is dropping fast, being sucked out of me.

What seemed an eternity of torture, I finally black out.

I open my eyes, I hear a buzzing sound in my head. It will not go away and is growing louder. I look around, I see Cindy laying next to me asleep, clinging to me. I look to my other side, but I do not see Julie, I am in my bed, only the two of us are in it. Tears begin to form in my eyes as the sorrow overtakes me. Julie is gone.

I cry, the tears fall free, I can not stop it, my heart is broken. Her smiling face and those sparkling green eyes flash into my mind and my tears flow harder and I cry out loud, sobbing. I bring my hands to my face, the sadness has fully taken me.

Cindy awakes and softly says my name “Scott.......”

I cry and she takes me into her arms, “Scott, Scott she is ok, you saved her.” she whispers into my ear grabbing me tightly, comforting me, “sssshhh, she is ok Scott, you saved her, calm down, she is ok Scott” she says over and over reassuring me.

I hear her voice telling me this, my heart explodes with relief, like a volcano erupting, I feel the pressure taking my breath away,” wha.....she is ok? Really? Cindy, Julie is ok? I pull her back and look into her eyes, they are smiling at me as is she, her happiness can be seen.

My mind clears up instantly, the sorrow gone faster than light. Happiness like I have never felt before replaces it, my emotions take a 180 in less than a second.”I have to go see her” I say raising my self out of bed, the dizziness overtakes me, making me fall back into bed. By body will not listen to me.

Cindy presses me back into bed,” You need rest Scott, you have been out for 4 hours”.

I look towards the window, it is dark outside I can tell thru the blinds. Then I remember, “The Doc? The Sheriff? And you? Did you get hit? Are you ok?, I ask concerned grabbing a hold of her and turning her this way and that looking for any wounds.

“No, I am fine Tiger, the Doc is ok, but he is out cold, sleeping, like you, it took a lot out of him to perform that, the Sheriff is fine too, we gave him a healing potion and fixed him right up.” She says smiling almost laughing at my reaction.

“Thank god, everyone is safe” I sigh in relief, wiping the remaining tears from my eyes. I see I have unread notices again so I open them.

I scan over Julies Stats and see my name in several places, then I check my status

I see her name in mana, hmm what is this? Does this mean we share those? She has my health and endurance and I have her mana? Do we deplete them at the same time? This can be both a blessing and a curse,.......

As I compare the 2 Statuses, I see she does not have my attack defense or accuracy. If we share the same health, mana and endurance pool and both of us are in combat at the same time, things can get crazy fast. We could both be in danger. Eh? What is this? Sexual Stamina Scott Smith? No no no no no she can not see this!

I start to break out in a cold sweat knowing, when she awakens, eventually she will notice it, since it is flashing in red on her status, god she is going to kill me I think, or maybe she will love it? Please let her love it.......................

Undecided on what to expect, I lean over and give Cindy a light kiss, “Thank you honey for watching over me”

“Scott I love you with all my heart of course I am here for you Tiger. Now get some rest please, you need to recover if you want to see Julie in the morning”, she says as she pulls the blankets back over me. I relax and sink into the pillow, Cindy cuddles up to me, and closes her eyes. I lay there staring a the ceiling wondering how this new Soul Link is going to affect the future. Gradually I fall back to sleep.

I awake. I look and see Cindy is not here by me. I look towards the blinds and see the sun shining thru. I get up, feeling better than last night, seems a good nights rest fixed things up, the dizziness is gone. I check my and Julie's Statuses again just to make sure I was not dreaming. Still there, not a dream I think and sigh to myself.

I put on my uniform and head out the door. I head for nurses office as that is where Doc keeps all the sick and injured now. I arrive and enter and see Doc is up and about, the younger Doc that is. He sees me and smiles. I see Cindy sitting next to Julies bed, she turns and sees me, waves and smiles. Then I see Julie, sleeping peacefully. Her face is beautiful, I feel my heart tighten and I want to rush over, but the Doc puts his finger to his lips and motions for me to go outside with him. We exit and close the door.

“This is wondrous Scott!” He exclaims, holding a staff in front of him, this one is black and has a red gem in it's top. He is wearing Grey Robes, a necklace and 2 rings, one on each hand. He swirls about showing off his new get up.

“Julie?” I ask urgently

“Ah sorry about that, forgot my manners there Scott, yes Julie is fine, in fact she is better than fine it seems. After the resurrection her wound began healing faster than normal, now there is not even a scar where the bullet wounds were, but she is still asleep, you know Scott she was shot in the heart..............This is amazing that she is alive” He says with a warm smile, placing a hand on my shoulder.

My anxiety leaves me, I did not notice that, until he said she was ok, how anxious I was. “Thank you Doc for all you have done, and I am sorry for having thrust this upon you all of a sudden, but it was for Julie's sake, so please please forgive me.” I bow my head to him.

“Haha Scott I should thank you! You have opened a whole new world to me, I have been busy going over my status and reviewing what I can do all morning! I am amazed, it will revolutionize medical science in ways you can not even imagine! So no Scott, Thank you, Thank you very much!” He says gracefully and gives another warm smile.

We enter the room again and I approach Julie's bed and sit across from Cindy. I take Julies small frail looking hand into mine and kiss it lightly. I push her hair from her face gently. Julie stirs, slowly awakening, her eyes slowly open and she sees Cindy next to her, she then looks her left and see me, and smiles.

“Good morning Kitten” I say to her quietly and begin to smile happily, but a headache is starting to gnaw at me. A buzzing sound is there.

"Good morning sweetheart, good morning Cindy, ugh I have a headache,” she says and winces at the pain in her head.

I get up and ask “Doc, you got anything for a headache?” I ask of him. He was sitting at a desk writing on some paper, looks up at me and smiles.

Doc gets up and walks over to me, and begins to speak, but I bend over in pain, the headache is getting far worse, more than any I have felt before, the pain is stabbing, sharp and constant taking my breath away.

Julie cries out holding her hands to her head,”God this pain, it hurts so bad!”

Doc looks at me and then at Cindy “both of you at the same time?” he asks confused. He then places his hand on my head and a green glow emits from it, the pain slightens, but returns in force.

Arg this pain is killing me! Wha this this? I think to myelf but at the same time I also hear in my head.

Oh my god this hurts so bad, please Doc help me.....

I look up and look at Julie, it was her voice in my head, she is staring at me with wide open eyes.

I heard Scotts voice in my head, how??

“Julie?” I ask hesitantly “Are you in my mind?” Then I think no way this can be happening....

“Scott I can hear you in my mind”, she says quickly what is going on here, why can I hear Scott in my head?

The headache is gone now, as I stand there stunned looking at Julie, she in turn is looking at me

“Julie can you hear this?”

“Uhh Yes scott, can you hear me?”

Holy crap! Holy crap! We both think at the same time
