Writer’s spot: Greetings friends! A little look on our VIP today!
SO, an early but short release today. Only 1,7K words. BUT, I may release a second chapter later today. No guarantees, but a possibility, so stay tuned, okay?
BESIDES, I must say that I have been enjoying writing this story, and I plan on keeping up with it even after I go back to Insania, even if that means dropping the frequency a lot. For now, I plan on writing this one during the Sundays, plus whichever day I decided to write it after Insania’s chapter. What do you guys think?
Beep, and enjoy your story!

“Lunn…” Sorius said with a serious tone.
“What is it, brother?” She asked in a perfectly innocent tone.
“What did I tell you right before we left?” He asked, his voice dripping with bloodlust.
“To not bother the VIP.” She answered immediately.
“So you do remember. Good.” He said with a nod.
“Of course! But what does it have to do with anything?” She asked back.
“It has everything to do with the situation.” He answered back.
“How so?”
“Can’t you see that she is clearly uncomfortable with the situation?” He asked, a vein popping on his forehead.
“Nope. I can’t.” She answered innocently, receiving a loud sigh in response.
“Lunn… For the love of the gods… STOP HUGGING THE VIP!” He shouted the last part at her.
“NO! SHE’S SO SQUISHY AND SOFT! I DON’T WANT TO LET GO!” She answered while pulling the poor Red away from Sorius.
[Goddammit… Where is the popcorn when you need it?] Gaz said playfully while watching the scene.
[What does popcorn have to do with this?] Ekis asked confused. [Actually, what is popcorn?]
[Don’t mind it. Just a silly joke and a junk food from my world.] He said amused.
[Junk food? That doesn’t sound very tasty…] She said worried.
[Then you have a lot to learn, young padawan.] He said in his best sage tone.
[Padawan? What’s that?]
[A lot indeed…]
He would have nodded right then, but his lack of the necessary neck, head and body needed to make such a movement left him unable to do so. Taking his attention back to the scene, he couldn’t help but wanting to chuckle at the scene, with Sorius trying to take his sister’s hand away from the poor Morfian.
Right after their initial banter back at the trailer, Lunn took a liking to the young Red and kept hugging her all the time with a blissful face. The girl tried repeatedly to free herself from her grasps, but it was all in vain as the mercenary easily overpowered her weak body. So after one or two hours of struggle, Red finally gave in and became her personal hug-toy.
Of course, Ross, being the helpful dwarf he was, pretty much spent the whole time rolling on the floor while either laughing or in pain. Yllivia kept indifferent to the scene, only keeping herself close to her precious Beepy as a mother protecting her child.

But the one that left Gaz the most amused was the stealth cat, who was left completely confused on what was happening with its seemingly owner and kept looking from one side to the other looking for an answer, before finally giving up and jumping on Red’s lap who was on Lunn’s lap.
That went on for a few hours as the group traveled, and after some time Gaz finally felt as the truck came to a stop and Sorius came in warning that it was time for lunch. Only to find the precious VIP being hugged by a distracted elf and almost fainting in shock. Volgoff simply looked amused by the scene and smiled as if he was a father looking at his children playing around.
So, it ended up with the group’s current situation. After some struggle, Sorius finally managed to take a sulking Lunn away from a confused Red.
Afterwards, the whole group gathered outside of the trailer due to Volgoff being far too big to fit in it. Ross brought what looked like a barbecue grill from a cabinet and brought it outside.
“Hey Lass, Hope you don’t mind eatin’ some delicious juicy meat. Cause that’s all we have today!” He said cheerfully while dropping the grill on the ground and lighting it up with some coal.
“No need to worry. We do have proper people-food ready too.” Said Sorius as he brought some proper cooking utensils with him.
“Bah! No proper dwarf needs anything more than some juicy meat and a good cold mug to survive.” Ross said in an annoyed tone. “And a workshop. That is also good.”
“No! She is still growing and must eat properly to become even squishier!” Lunn objected to the dwarf.
“…I take back what I said. Barbecue it is.” Sorius said suddenly.
“Waah? Just because I agreed with you?” She made a fake hurt tone.
“Why don’t the three of you simply ask what the lady likes?” Volgoff said in his usual calm tone while taking the apparel from Sorius and preparing a cooking pit. The bicker trio stopped shocked and turned their eyes to Red, who suddenly became embarrassed with being the center of attention.
“I… Hmm… Well…” She struggled to find words, and had to take a deep breath before finally calming herself. “Hmm… I would like… Something else with the meat…?” She said shyly, making Lunn look proudly towards Ross.
The moment she though no one was looking at her, she made a small victory pose. Gaz would have smiled wryly as the girl clearly was proud of herself for stating her opinion. She was a bit more of an awkward girl than what he had firstly guessed.
Ross grumbled something about being a true man and ignored the rest, throwing a lot of pieces of meat on the grill.

While the dwarf kept grilling his meat, Volgoff started properly cooking a stew with a large pot, using a variety of spices that Gaz had never seen even back in his other life. It didn’t take too long before the food was ready and they all took a plate-full from the troll before sitting on the side of the truck.
Yllivia quickly took a fruit from a nearby tree and gave it to Gaz, who immediately started processing it, but he couldn’t help noticing the fact that Red was looking at him intently during the whole process, as if analyzing his very notice. In exchange, he noticed as the girl took some pieces of meat and vegetable from the stew and discretely gave it to the small cat-bot.
The group didn’t take much longer after finishing their lunch before going back to the truck, and much to Red’s delight, Lunn hit the bed and immediately passed out with a silly smile in her face.
Ross simply sat down near the door and started a light nap, similar to what Yllivia was doing, except that she was making sure to stay close to Beepy the whole time.
Noticing that she was the only one truly awake right then, the girl discretely called out to Gaz, moving her hand and making a low sound, as if she was calling a small dog. Gaz let out a mental sigh and slowly approached the girl. From what he managed to see, the girl wasn’t all that dangerous, so he felt that it wouldn’t hurt to humor her a little.
She clearly held back a smile when he approached, before crouching down and extending her hand towards him, only to be stopped by the cat, who put itself in front of the hand. The girl smiled a bit awkwardly at this before lightly petting it and turning back to Beepy.
“Now… What could you be…” She said in an impressed tone as she slowly traced her fingers around his armor. “This plating… It looks like a leaper’s… But much thicker… And these treads… Why are they so large?” She said while looking around him. “Oh… Larger gears? Stronger? Interesting…”
Gaz started to feel a bit uncomfortable as the girl looked all over him with a shocked expression. She seemed incredibly impressed with how he looked, so he felt a bit uneasy if he were to take some distance and make her sad once again.
“BEEeeEp?” He said a bit uneasy, and the girl suddenly jerked her head surprised.
“Sorry…” She said awkwardly before taking a small notebook from one of her pockets and start doodling something on it. Becoming curious, Gaz rolled behind her and looked at the notebook, seeing as she drew him and started to make some annotations with the letters he still couldn’t read.
[Oh, is she a researcher of some kind?] Gaz asked surprised.
[Seems like it…]
As he saw her making some annotations on her notebook, the cat once again jumped on her arms, interrupting her writing. She smile a bit awkwardly before putting the cat back on the ground.
“Not now, Pin, I’m working right now…” She said in an apologetic tone, making the cat look confused, she smiled awkwardly once again before turning back to Gaz. “Such an incredible specimen… I wonder what else he can do…” She said with an amused look.
Deciding to amuse her a bit more, Gaz took that as a cue to lift himself with the pistons, making the girl gasp in surprise as he went up and down all at once. She quickly went back to her writing and doodling. As soon as she finished, he once again activated his pistons, but in alternate patterns this time, making him tilt on different angles.
“Active individual pistons? Why would you need it?” She asked amused, probably not expecting what he had just shown. “And these gears… Are they all Leaper’s too? The steam tank and the furnace too… All your parts are from leapers? Incredible.”
Finding that it was probably enough for now, he simply went quiet and turned back to his corner of the trailer, but much to his surprise the girl came after him, not even caring about the fact that Yllivia woke up when she got close enough, all the time she kept noting down something on her notebook.
“Maybe if we added a bull’s secondary cauldron and use its horn instead of exhausts… Or use a rotor’s motor for propulsion… And then a Cork’s rotor…” She started rambling while looking intently at the small robot, who was starting to get a bit worried with her reaction. Luckily, rescue came from a yellow-dressed Lynnian, who hugged him and said in an annoyed tone.
“Only Beepy can change his body.” She said seriously.
The girl froze for a moment while staring at him for some time. Then she looked shocked back at Yllivia and blushed furiously, which meant that her whole face became a literal bright red, before she backed away, hiding herself behind her notebook.
“Sorry…” She said in a low tone. “But… Is it true then?” She asked after lowering the notebook only enough to watch the small robot. “He created his body by himself?”
“Yes.” Yllivia said curtly while pulling him even closer.
“Incredible…” She said with her voice filled with wonder.
[I… May have gotten myself in trouble…] Gaz said while looking at Red’s shining eyes of excitement.
[I fear I must agree with you there…] Ekis said awkwardly.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
