Writer’s spot: Greetings, friends! The destiny of our dear hero.
SO, this is a short chapter, very short, to tell the truth, with only 1700 words, but I may upload another chapter today, since I still feel like writing a bit more. But that will be after I come back from my classes.
BESIDES, I need to find a name for our goddess, so leave your comments giving me a recommendation and I may pick one of them, IF they are better than the one I have in mind.
BESIDES (II), as you may notice, I plan on adding some fantasy elements, but in a fairly different way than the usual, so I hope you guys like it.
Enjoy your story!

Quickly thinking of a plan, Gaz decided that, whoever it was that had shot this net locking him in place would have the intention of picking him up, instead of killing. Or breaking, in more robotic terms. Not that it matters. Then, for a brief moment they would have to lift up the net to pick him up, so he would take this moment to dart away.
He faked giving up, by stopping his wheels and letting his camera tilt downwards, and this made whoever it was that had thrown the net at him approach in slow and premediated steps, for two times stopping before reaching him.
Readying himself and silently engaging his motors, he waited the moment that his sensors picked up the sound of the approaching person being right next to him, and the moment he felt a hand pulling up the net, he started the motors of his outer-shell.
But what started spinning wasn’t his wheel-like armor, but the whole world around him. The robot immediately stopped his motors before he could get dizzy with all the spinning, and tried to understand what happened. Spinning his camera around one last time until it stopped on his back, he saw the being that got him.
Well, he was surprised, to say the least.
It was a tall man, probably bearing almost two meters tall, with long black hair and pale skin. He wore something like a padded overcoat with a shirt and a pair of pants, All of them colored in a deep black. In his back something long, wrapped in some kind of plastic.
He was a handsome man to say the least, but what really caught his camera were the ears. The long and pointy ears.
Truly, no doubt about it, this was an elf.
[I thought this was a Sci-fi world…] He said in his mind.
[Sci-fi?] The goddess asked confused.
[I mean, technological instead of magical… But I guess that his gear does look kind of sci-fish…] He said with wonder in his mind as he watched the elf.
And the elf looked back at him as if examining him. He had caught Gaz by the wheels, so when he tried to roll away, his whole body spun around instead of the wheels. That explained why he could not run away earlier.

But it didn’t help him calm down when the elf started to move him around and look at him from every angle with a confused expression in his face. While he started to worry about what the elf would do with him, he heard another pair of steps coming from the other side, so he quickly spun his camera around, and what he saw this time once again shocked him.
A girl, and if his memories didn’t bug on him, he should be around eighteen or something years old, with a beautiful short silver hair, shaped into some slightly spiky pattern. Different from the elf, she wore a yellow pants and yellow jacket, completed with a white undershirt, black boots and fingerless gloves.
But this time, instead of long pointy ears, they were… Well, long and pointy, but hers came from the top of her head and were a bit more furry than the elf’s. Of course, she had a long and thin furry tail coming from the back of her waist.
[A… Cat girl? Really?] Gaz asked surprised.
[Oh! I remember those! that is one the races that one of the others gods made!] She said cheerfully.
[I… See… So there aren’t only elves here?] he said while nodding to himself in his mind. [And not that I mind the brass knuckles looking thingies hanging on her waist, but…] he stopped for a moment as he eyed the other thing holstered on her leg. [BUT WHY THE NINE HELLS DOES SHE HAVE AN UZI?]
[PLEASE DON’T SHOUT SO SUDDENLY!] The goddess complained back in his mind. [And what is a Uzi anyway?]
[It’s… never mind.] Gaz gave up on explaining her what is an Uzi. And redirected his attention to the two, watching as the girl and the elf spoke a few words to each other. [Say… Any chance I can come to understand what they are speaking?] He asked her.
[Hmm… I’m working on a translation software right now.] She said proudly as a bar appeared atop of his vision, marked at 0%. [Try to stay near them while they speak and it should update itself automatically.]
[Ooh, nifty!] Gaz said surprised before frowning slightly, which surprised his two captors a bit as his shell closed slightly. [But shouldn’t you be out of energy?] He asked confused.
[Hmm… This is mostly programming, little to no power involved.] She said cheerfully.
[Okay, thanks!] He said while redirecting his attention towards the duo.
They were exchanging some words here and there, but most of their meanings were completely lost to Gaz. Okay, most is an understatement, he understood absolutely nothing of what they were speaking about with each other.
But even if he couldn’t understand what they were speaking, he could somehow have an idea. The Elf had some authority tone to it, while the girl had a quiet and almost unexpressive voice. If he could guess, they were a leader and a follower of some kind.

They would both look at him from time to time, pointing at something and then start speaking to each other. In the end, the cat girl extended her arms forward toward the elf, who made a tired face for a moment and looked towards the robot in his arms. Finally he sighed and gave Gaz to the girl.
Gaz became worried as the girl held him in her arms, looking directly at his camera for a moment as he looked at her golden eyes. For a moment neither moved, until the girl finally took one of her hands away from his side and approached his camera. He started trembling with his body, getting scared of what she would do with him.
And then...
She poked his camera.
[What?]“Beep?”
Gaz became surprised for a moment. He could Beep? That was new, and it seemed to surprise the girl, as she widened her eyes for a moment before going back to her expressionless face.
“Beep.” She spoke back to him.
“Beep?” he asked confused. He couldn’t quite understand why she spoke the beep back to him, so he became surprised. Yet this seemed to please her.
“Beep.” She said. And then she hugged him.
The robot blinked surprised as the elf sighed loudly before walking away. The cat-girl soon followed while carrying Gaz in her arms and making a beep occasionally. If he didn’t answer the beep she would suddenly become a bit sullen.
Thinking that the best way to keep alive was to keep his captors alive, he decided to answer her beeps whenever she did them, as she seemed to enjoy it. Assuming that her hug tightening meant anything, to tell the truth.
It didn’t take him much long to understand what exactly what had happened. Somehow he ended up becoming her pet robot before he could even find his first sentient robot. Sighing mentally, he could only sit there and wait as the two carried him through the forest. It didn’t take much longer for him to see a small campfire appear up ahead, surrounded by a few sleeping bags and some basic looking sleeping equipment.
Another person was sitting around the bonfire, tinkering with something that Gaz couldn’t quite see what it was from the actual angle.
He was much shorter than his peers, but had a much more bulkier and stout body. A long ragged red hair fell down on his exposed back, and his whole body was covered in some synthetic-looking body armor, something that reminded the robot of those sci-fi armors one saw on movies, but with a design that reminded him slightly of some medieval armor. On his back was a strange rectangular object, held by something against his back, as well a humongous revolver with the barrel the size of a coin holstered on his hip.
When the obvious dwarf heard the group approaching, he stopped working on whatever he was working and looked towards them. His large nose twitched a bit, moving the bountiful mustache as he smiled widely. Then his smile grew predatory as he looked at the robot, standing up and his hand twitching slightly as he approached the girl.
“!#^&$3Spark!*&$#Steam!#(*$?”
Gaz blinked surprised for a moment, as suddenly two of his words made sense to him, but before he could inquire the goddess, the girl pulled him away from the dwarf and they exchanged some words. The dwarf grimaced slightly and once again tried to approach the robot, but he was rewarded with a sigh by the elf, followed by a sudden brass knuckle to the gut, courtesy of the girl.
“!^&$#Beepy!”
[Wait… Did she just name me beepy?] Gaz asked the goddess.
[Seems like so…] She answered with an awkward tone. [And it seem that the software is already starting to work!] She said cheerfully, and Gaz noticed that the counter had elevated to 1%
[Hmm… And what is that spark and steam the dwarf spoke of?] He asked her again.
[I… Don’t know. But it somehow sounds… Familiar?]
Gaz sighed once again as he watched the dwarf contort in pain on the ground while obviously cursing in their strange language. The girl simply put the brass-knuckle back to her waist and walked away to a corner of the camp, where she picked up a long rope and tied around his inner core in such a way that he wouldn’t be able to escape. Then she sat besides him and started to poke his camera again while saying the occasional beep.
After a few hours, the sun slowly fell down, bringing the long day to end. Twice did the dwarf try to take Gaz from the girl, and twice he went to the ground where he crawled in pain. The elf spend most of his time simply watching them and reading some kind of book while the cat-girl simply kept playing with Gaz. Deciding to use his first chance to escape, he watched as the trio went to sleep, thankful by the fact that he didn’t feel the need to sleep.
And so, he prepared for his infallible plan.

Bendik's plan: trigger rapid human evolution, make rogue Quantum Intellect catastrophes impossible, and change the nature of human civilization forever. What's happened so far in Book 1 - link to first book Bendik perfected the world's first Quantum-core processor, decades before anyone else. However, his plan to trigger human evolution is complicated and it only now nears completion. At the same time, Ronanld Linkletter, a brutally self-serving competitor closes in on his own Quantum breakthrough. Bendik's catalyst, a globe spanning marvel of engineering nears completion. For his plan to work, he needs to train millions of people without tipping off the powers that be. His son Austin has the solution: an immersive game world indistinguishable from the real world, where playing can heal trauma, activate advanced, dormant DNA, and unwittingly train Bendik's millions.
