(Third person’s perspective)

Eight people were gathered around in an abandoned warehouse getting ready to head out. They had all spent the last few days coming up with a plan and were now prepared to take action.

These eight had been chosen by the Council to go ahead and establish first contact with someone. The eight had a number of different abilities that should enable them to handle said person easily in case things took a turn for the worse.

Daniel, who was among the eight, activated his ability and ‘searched’ for the person having the ‘absorption’ ability. He found his location and forwarded the co-ordinates to Amir, who then prepared to use his own ability to teleport all of them.

Amir’s ability was ‘unrestricted teleportation’, which allowed him to teleport a limitless number of people anywhere he pleases. He didn’t need to follow the restrictions placed on other teleportation abilities, for example he didn’t need to have visited some place before he could teleport there instead he could easily teleport to unknown places. Therefore when Daniel passed him co-ordinates to a place he hadn’t visited before, it wasn’t a problem for him.

Everyone prepared themselves, and after Deepika, an Indian girl with the unique ability of ‘Presence Control’, had hidden everyone’s presence they all teleported away to the specific location.

They arrived and barely got a glimpse of a ruined city with a person wearing oddly warm clothes hovering in the air before that person disappeared and the ground beneath them split apart!

Demonic hands came from underneath as the eight people panicked and started getting dragged down by those hands! With some quick thinking from Carla, a Mexican woman with the ‘Force’ unique ability, they were able to escape from the clutches of the demonic hands as Carla’s force-field pushed them away.

Though soon more and more hands started coming from underground and they even started hitting them with elemental attacks! Carla’s force-field protected them long enough for Amir to come to his senses and teleport them all away back to the warehouse they came from!

Everyone collapsed to the floors in relief and everyone started speaking as one in loud voices. Shouts about “What the fuck just happened?” and “Just what were those things?” were heard before Daniel spoke in a loud voice to calm everyone down.

“I think those were just some sort of underground creatures. Remember we saw a person in mid-air for a second before he disappeared? I think he was that ‘absorption guy', and he clearly knew about those creatures which is why he was staying in the air.”

Everyone started to calm down once they heard Daniel’s words. That was probably what happened and they all just felt foolish to have been caught by surprise by something so simple. Which is true, if all of these eight had been aware of the presence of those underground creatures then fighting them would have been a piece of cake for these guys.

Daniel then spoke up once again, “I think that 'absorption guy' was probably there to drink some blood from these monsters. He must have finished his work and gone someplace else as soon as we arrived, which is lucky for us otherwise we would have been caught up between those underground things and a possible human enemy. We know he teleported somewhere else, because if he had simply used his hiding presence to turn invisible we would have been able to see him because of Deepika’s ability.”

Another round of agreement came up with the sound reasoning of Daniel’s words. He then continued…

“I’ll search for him once again and see where he went. This time we should prepare ourselves better instead of rushing in blindly, so take a few minutes to get ready while I search for him.”

Everyone started mentally preparing themselves as Daniel concentrated on finding out the person once again. To his extreme surprise he found out that the ‘absorption guy' was currently located on the top of Mount Everest! What in the world was he doing up there?!

Daniel decided to search the mountain for any creatures first so that what transpired with those underground monsters won’t happen again. He ‘searched’ the entire mountain for creatures and found a few Yetis, Ice trolls, Snow leopards etc but the most surprising thing was a Dragon right at the top of the mountain beside the absorption guy!!

What would a person be doing in front of a dragon?!

Daniel tried to search what kind of abilities the dragon had but to his dismay he found out that he couldn’t see the abilities! His own ability had never failed to give him detailed answers, yet here it had completely failed him in giving him details about the dragon’s abilities!

He decided he should share his findings with the group, and the next 10-15 minutes passed by in a flash as heated discussions took place among them all.

The discussions revealed two major theories:

The ‘absorption guy' was there trying to fight the dragon and drink its blood.

The dragon was somehow a companion of the ‘absorption guy' and he had gone to visit it for some reason.

Though these theories seem absurd, they were not presented without supporting reasons. The major reason for these theories was the fact that the ‘absorption guy' did not possess the ‘unrestricted teleportation’ ability, which meant that the only way he could have instantly gone from that ruined city to the top of Mount Everest was if he had previously visited there.

This meant that he had probably known about the dragon’s existence before teleporting there but he still went anyway. Of course, the chance that this was the first time the Dragon was at the top of Mount Everest was a possibility, but somehow it felt unlikely. Though there were other theories mentioned, the two mentioned above were the ones that most of them thought could be possible.

This could mean that either the ‘absorption guy' was much more powerful than they originally thought he was, or he had a seriously powerful monster as his friend/companion! A couple of the people present also thought that the guy was just extremely stupid and had gone to fight the dragon with delusions of grandeur, but this theory was shot down as no one else thought that someone could be that stupid.

Daniel realised something alarming during these discussions. Even though he could tell all the abilities that the person had ‘absorbed’, he couldn’t find out exactly how powerful these ‘absorbed’ abilities were! He knew through his ability that the more blood the person will drink the more powerful the ability will get, but so far he had not been thinking about the extent of his ‘absorbed’ abilities. Daniel felt a bit stupid admitting this fact to the group, and the group decided that it was best to wait and see what happens for now.

A little over an hour later Daniel exclaimed, “He moved!”

Daniel had been keeping track of the ‘absorption guy’ all this time and just now his ability told him that the person was no longer at Mount Everest. Though Daniel checked and found to his amazement that the dragon was still alive and well at the mountain top!

The group of eight were extremely surprised to hear this, and they immediately teleported to New York City where the ‘absorption guy’ was currently at, this time being extra-careful. The sight of the person unscratched shocked them and without doing anything else they all came back to the warehouse!

They all sat silently contemplating what to do next. The dragon was still alive according to Daniel, and the person was completely unharmed. This could only mean that the dragon was a companion/friend/pet of the ‘absorption guy’. Either that or this person had actually fought with a dragon and come out alive and well, though this seemed unlikely due to the fact that they couldn’t spot any injuries whatsoever, even the guy’s clothes were still impeccable!

The uncomfortable silence was broken once again by Daniel, “I don’t think just the eight of us are enough. We need to talk to Anna and the others about this and I think we will need more people before we think about even speaking to this guy.”

Everyone agreed as they all moved to contact the other members of the Council…
