《9001: A Dungeon Ship Odyssey》Chapter 9 The True Monster

With the new gym built we could get a good enough training area to practice with our new weapons. The gym incorporated basic weights machines as well as arenas where you could spar with humanoid drones that can only spar and not fight. There was also target drones which were simple circular drones that float around with a big target on one side. The targets were a basic magic nullification field that had technology mixed in so that the impact registered the area it hit so you can be graded on your accuracy. There were different modes like a game which was newbie, beginner, adapt, intermediate, advanced, master, grandmaster. I tried intermediate for shooting but they were too fast for me who wanted to try high speed shooting but going down each level I found that these levels match up for after you graduate so I was stuck on newbie level. I set it up to upgrade to the next level after I can hit 500 shots without missing. In an hour I hit 50 of the 500 that appeared with dual pistols. It goes to show that I needed to train a lot more. I then tried the rifle and fill the battery with mana so I had a 500 shot magazine when using 1 mp shots. The rifle itself has a automatic and semiautomatic setting but I will probably only use weaker shots with more rapid fire. It left me a bit dizzy from mana deficiency but Queror looked fine being a mage type monster. To use the rifle I will need several batteries to use it or I will run out of mana easily. Like all magic weapons there is little to no recoil so when I tested the gun on each type of shot I didn't have trouble handling them. The control was better than with my control of the two pistols since I focused on one point. Of 500 shots I hit 70 of them. To train I obviously don't use my skill as it would allow me much greater focus and I would hit much more but that isn't really training no is it. After some time Tony called us. "Oi! Goblin! Your mother arrived, she is in the cargo! Go get her before she blows!" Tony says. "Before she blows? Mother barely ever gets angry and it only involves me and my siblings?" Mirella says. We look confused at one another. Mirella was on swinging a large metal pipe that had several heavy weights at the end. Suddenly I pale realizing what he meant. "SHIT THAT IDIOT IS TELLING HER ABOUT THOSE MORONS THAT INVADED!" I shout. We both quickly drop what we were doing and run to the elevator and quickly went down to the hanger. As soon as the door opened we both turned pure white. "...yeah they were going on about how nice the ship was and how it would be nice "training" their future slaves would be." Tony was saying while spouting lies I could not confirm was true or not. The blue Oni was only looking at him with dead eyes as he continued speaking and explaining what had happened. "TONY YOU ASS HOLE HAT DID YOU TELL HER!!" I shout. "I said word for word what those little pricks said." He replied. Suddenly a screen appeared showing video footage of the eight entering and exactly as Tony said they were saying how not having access to their parents noble status sucked and how being poor and having to suck up to lesser adventurers was even worse. At that moment I knew what an angry demon looked like. Releasing from all around the Oni was a black mist while her eyes had gained a glowing red color like a demon or a berserk monster. I swear that behind her stood a super tall monster that looked like some god of destruction or something. The sheer pressure of her anger was enough to freeze us in place but trying to will myself I walked up to her. "W-w-w-w-w-w-wa-wa-wait!" I shout. Her eyes slowly turn to me sending a chill down my spine. "Th-th-the group wa-was killed! A-also th-th-the l-leader of th-the ship p-paid compensation!" I forced out of my throat. "They attacked even after I showed up. Anyone would check an adult's identity when near children and an adventurers ship." She replied in a cold emotionless tone. "Th-th-the ship ca-captain sa-said they disobeyed h-her!" I replied shaking under the pressure as I started to get seriously affected by the massive killing intent. "She is right you know. See here." Tony suddenly said making a screen appear showing the group prying open the elevator and rising up. "This is lame, I knew that stupid bitch of a lieutenant was overreacting. This ship is cake." The leader of the group said. "Well the cargo was empty with no security so the rest of the ship might be as poorly defended." The mage replied. "Then again the cargo can be left like that to make us drop our guard." A warrior said as he gets ready for the elevator to open. "Also the woman wasn't part of the crew but the mother of one of them. So maybe the lieutenant was worried the mother would attack to protect her." The assassin said. "Nah, she over reacted about the bitch, A rank with S rank strength my ass! That weakling lieutenant is just scared of numbers." The leader said and laughed. The video ended as that was proof enough but that only made it worse. Mirella's mother was seething with rage now and I feared how she would release that rage. Suddenly she turns around and kicks both doors of the air lock in removing them from the hinges. "OI REPAIRS AREN'T CHEAP!" Tony shouted but nothing got through. We looked out through the door as Mirella's mother walks out about fifty meters before shouting towards the ship the party was affiliated with. "YOU LITTLE SHITS!! IF ANY OF YOU TRY A STUNT LIKE THE EIGHT LITTLE FUCKS THAT DIED BEFORE I REACHED THEM THIS IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR ENTIRE SHIP!!" She shouts and I suddenly feel a massive amount of mana move in her body and condense around her right arm from her elbow down. As more and more focused on her arm the ground began to tremble and crack under the pressure. Her arm began to glow and when it became nearly blinding she turned a full 90 degrees to the left and looked away from the city and took a fighting position for a boxer. Slowly she pulls back her arm and finally in a blur she punches the air full force. At once a shock wave blasts from her fist as her arm moves faster than the speed sound. Smashing the air faster than sound itself the mana around her arm flies forward like a glowing solid mass of destruction. Where it passes about ten meters behind it the shockwave follows while fiercely ripping into the ground leaving a huge trail and as it passes through the faraway forest everything in its path. It finally hit its target. Some fifty kilometers away was a small mountain rising within the forest. Unfortunately as the magic fist flies and hits the base of the small mountain everything around it begins to disintegrate. The cracks spread out and after the fist was halfway in it finally dispersed leaving a massive crater with a very defined fist at the center. Everyone was sweating cold as we look out towards the unnecessary destruction that shows monster level destruction. It was clear to everyone that this woman was very much in touch with her monster ancestors. The level of destruction was nearing natural disaster levels. "THIS WAS YOUR ONLY WARNING AND THIS GOES TO ALL OTHER CREWS IN THIS AREA!" She shouts looking at the other nearby ships finally stopping while looking at our own and walking over here. "Alright let’s head up, I had a list of required systems you would need for space travel but I will add some you may need to help your hunting speed." She says and without saying a peep we march to the elevator and up to the dining room sitting at the same table. She pulls out a new holocube and places it on the table where it activates showing a screen with a lost of several systems. "These are the required systems you will need to obtain for you to enter and survive space." She says. - Main AI Supercomputer Capable of holding D rank AI - 1.3 G Force gravity generator - Mark I Interplanetary Hyperdrive - Expansion Two - Space Fighter Drone Hanger - Gun Turrets/Plasma Turret - Lazer Beam - Space Grade Life Support unit - Ship Respawn Zone/Infirmary - Teleportation Station - Space Ship Shield Generator (Tech or Magic) - Mining Drone - Mining Drone Station Tony whistle looking at everything and then bringing out each one showing the price range. Everything but the Infirmary was well over 600k in MP which was well over the market price for something built with regular materials. "Now the ones that are truly important are the gravity generator, life support and infirmary. The second expansion is there since you will need the space for it. Now I had thought it was safe but I believe you kids need to head to a different city." She said which shocked us a bit. We wanted to work a bit more here. "Now don't look at me like that, you saw what happened before. Your crew lacks manpower to watch over the ship and here the other crews know you are upstarts." She says before we could complain. "So what was the extra stuff you wanted us to get besides those?" Mirella asked. "Tony you should have it unlocked already. Bring up Bioengineering Lab and simulator habits." She says. Not wanting to piss of the monster inside of him Tony searched it up and found the the two constructions. BioEngineering Lab 90,000 MP minimum cost This lab is unique when made inside a core controled ship. It is the only method a spaceship core can spawn organic minions. Within the lab are cylindrical capsule which are used to clone the monster of choice. Only small creatures up to the size of a human can be cloned. WARNING: Ethic laws prohibits cloning of sentient non monster species. Due to disorder possibly caused by the cloning process the suffering is inhuman and is punishable by death. Simulator Habit Chambers 50,000 MP minimum cost This room is a small room which incorporates technology and magic to construct a simulation home for organic monsters. Though physical habits exist this one is made for creatures with small life spans that will very likely be changed rapidly. The most come use for this is to house cloned monsters while they are in breeding phase. Lowest purchase creates four separate rooms capable of housing a small group of imps. "Woah they are expensive!" I say. "Yes but I feel they are necessary, you kids need to create quality monster slaves that will fill the spots on your ship." Mirella's mom said. "But can't we just invite other people as we go?" Mirella asked. "Take the ship the invaders came from. Just in that ship how many people do you think are naturally born out in the world and went to the Academy?" She asks. We look at each other before looking back. "Around 80% the rest would be monsters bred into beastmen to occupy the guard posts mostly." I reply. "Wrong!" She says. "30 or at best 40% are natural born people, the rest are either tamed and bred into humanoids or descendants of clones from some weak species that was bred for number until they were as strong as natural ones which they then were bred for quality and turned into sentient beings to work in the dozens of posts on the ship which can’t be filled quickly enough." She explains. "Wait?! Aren't clones weak as well as have really short life spans?" I asked. Mirella's mother nodded and touched the cube making the screen change. "Obviously you will be cloning imps to start off, your ship is capable of housing 10 monsters including the demon you have. Obviously when you clone, you clone much more past your limit because normally the first clones don't survive until adulthood which is normally one day after birth but the way to breed cloned creatures is know the natural life span then clone and breed the clones with the longest survival time. At the start you will simply breed those who can reach adulthood. After a few generations you lengthen the time they stay without breeding to check the time and breed those who last longer when the weakest start dieing. As you can see research has brought us the data of the natural life span of imps from a regular dungeon." She says pointing to the screen. -Wingless Imps - 1 months (adulthood reached in 1 day) -Variant imps - 2 months -Leader rank are just stronger monsters but same lifespan as normal monsters -Winged imps - 1 year (adulthood in 4 days) - Variant winged imps - 1 year 6 months - Fiends - 4 years - Variant Fiends - 5 years - Lesser demon - 9 years - Variant Lesser demon - 12 years - Gargoyle - 20 years - Variant Gargoyle - 24 years. - Succubi/Incubi - 30 years. - Variant Succubi/Incubi - 35 years - Demon - 50 years - Variant Demon - 60 years - Devil - 80 years - Variant Devil - 90 - Succubus/Incubus - 120 years - Variant Succubus/Incubus - 135 We looked at each one and several confused me. "What is a Fiend?" I asked. "A higher class Imp, they are a linear progression rank up unlike the lesser demon which a branching race of the imp. They appear after the winged imp but you two haven't seen them because they appear in determined times on the third floor and since they are weaker than lesser demons they are normally killed by those who rank up to demon." She explained. "Anyway, this is how the age ranged for each race. Cloning anything will shorten their lifespan by about 80% but when done to something already weak like an imp it can kill them in less than a week which is why it will take careful selective breeding to do this. But I already messaged your father, Mirella and he is sending one of the boys with a scanning software Tony can incorporate to a drone to check the lifespan as well as stats." She explains. "There is one problem though, it will take us almost a week of intense grinding in the dungeon to obtain this..." I start saying but was cut off. "Dont worry I already prepared for that as well. My farewell gift for my baby will be a mana crystal that will allow you to buy the lab at a decent size to clone 10 monsters at once and make a slightly bigger simulator room to house them. As for food they will scavenge the dead ones and you will only need to give food after the first day." She says with a gentle smile. We were shocked, I don't know if she cared for us or was trying to get rid of us. I really didn't know how to feel but Mirella was hugging her mother happy for the amazing present. Soon enough the hobgoblin boy sent with the delivery arrived and handed off the package. The crystal was large and after letting it down Tony absorbed it gaining 250k mp to which he instantly invested in both the simulator habits and the rest was put for making a lab with the 10 cylinder chambers for cloning. With the package was a disk with the program which was taken to the bridge and downloaded into the ship's data bank. It contained several things from infirmary machines that scan for anomalies to a scanner drone that displayed the info on a hologram screen for us. We both thank Mirella's mother for the great help and with a new scanner drone we run to the dungeon to find a pair of imps to use as ‘parents’ for all the clones.
