《9001: A Dungeon Ship Odyssey》Chapter 5 - Don't Mess With an S

We get back to the ship and again I unload all the bodies before heading off to take another bath. I also need to go check out the crew quarters on the second floor and the bathroom to see if it’s not too small or uncomfortable. I shower since I didn’t want to spend so much water. It costs MP to refill the tank and it was 5 mp for the gallon. As I was getting out of the bath and drying myself, Tony called out. “OI! It’s done!” He shouted throughout the ship. “How many Imps did we harvest this time?” I ask as I start putting on my underwear. “215 low class Imps, 10 leader class, 1 variant. The leader class gave me 30 MP and the variant 40. The grand total of todays hunt was 3565 mp. Put that together with what was left from yesterday which was 957 and the amount we have left is 4522 mp.GYAHAHAHA!! SOON THE SHITTY EXTERIOR WILL BECOME NEW AGAIN!!” He shouted. “How much does it take to improve the exterior?” I ask. “It takes 40k! I buy the other shell and expand it in one go. When I expand it I can also add additional MP to alter the size more or less” He explains while laughing. “Is there anything new that opened up for upgrading?” I ask. “Nope, very few bits here and there. A few new traps, a new drone type which is humanoid shaped but slow… oh I can upgrade the AI’s main supercomputer!” He said, interested. “Really? How much?” I ask. “It’s 4k, the current one allows her to grow to E rank which is the start of her developing her personality, but she isn’t even near E rank yet.” He says. “Leave it be then.” I tell him We still need to have her train more and learn by experiencing stuff outside more so for now, we can leave as is until she begins developing more. I heard once that happens it will be like a huge boom as her growth speed could be compared to a baby. “Oi! The hob bitch is here and she brought her family.” Tony said with obvious irritation. “Okay, let them in and DON’T EVEN THINK of attacking them! Tell them I will be down to guide them in.” I warn him. “Yeah Yeah! I wonder if the fat guy will get in?” He says. “Mirella’s father should be able to. Most things on a ship is made to handle a large humanoid race like him.” I tell him as I put on a pair of jean shorts that goes down to my knees and a white short sleeves shirt. On my waist, like always, is the holster that holds my gun and wand. Drilled into our heads is to always have your weapons at all times even when out on a date. You never know when something will happen. I put my armor in the laundry basket in my room and quickly dry my hair. Impatient and in a hurry, I leave it a bit moist and quickly brush it, before running to the elevator and heading to the cargo. I reach the cargo and what I find makes me force a smile out. Besides Mirella’s mother and sister, several other goblin-kin and hobgoblin-kin were entering. “Ara? So finally here...and you look cute in those clothes.” Mirella’s mother said making me blush. “GYAHAHAHAH!! YEAH RIGHT!! HER?! LOOK GOOD!! GYAHAHAHA!” From nowhere, the annoying hologram appeared, rolling on the ground. Mirella’s mother looked at him rolling on the ground, and took two steps forward before kicking his hologram right in the groin with all her might. Though I expected his Hologram to break apart it didn’t, and like a solid body she made contact with it which drains the “air” from his lungs. He flies into the walls before breaking apart on contact with the wall. “I can see what you meant by him getting cocky.” She says. “GYYAAAAHHHHHH~~~!!” The sudden voice shouts all over the ship in pain. “Um mom… how did you hit him?” Mirella asked. “Hmm? Oh, a little trick that mixes technology and magic just like the Hologram for the cores.” She explains. “Wait, holograms are purely technology!” I say. “Nope, pure technology holograms are only for AI’s. For a core’s hologram, he needs to insert a small bit of magic power, which is returned to him once he turns it off. The magic power gives him his human form you see. To kick him you need something like these shoes made just for this and a body enhancement spell. If either is missing you can’t touch him.” She explains with a smile. I could only grin with shining eyes as I hear that and look at her with expectation. “Sorry missy, but the tech is expensive and I won’t teach you the spell. Do it like I did and invent it yourself. It just took me 10 years to make the spell.” She tells me crushing my hopes and dreams of trashing Tony. “Wait mom! How did he get hurt?” Mirella asked. “Hmm? Oh the hit sends a shock like a feedback to his core itself but holder is made to reduce the pain felt. He still feels it though, which is why I kicked him so hard. No point kicking weakly if it will be blocked by the holder.” She said. We nod understanding. “HONEY!!” A sudden familiar deep voice called. At the doorway the huge body of the Red Oni that was Mirella’s father was squeezing himself inside. By squeezing, I mean we managed to get himself stuck on the second door because he was too wide. “For god’s sake... Let me handle this kids, please go on ahead. BOYS! HELP THE GIRLS CARRY MIRELLA’S THINGS!” Mirella’s mother orders. The male hobgoblin-kin followed as if on cue. We open the elevator which could fit Mirella, me and the three other hobs with luggage. She had about the same amount of luggage I had. It was obvious we would buy more stuff so no point in bringing everything. Just enough to last a bit over a week before we have to wash our cloths. On the second floor I called the AI, who appeared in front of us and lead us to the crew quarters. The rooms were split into four rooms with bunk beds and a dresser for each crewmate. The bathroom was in front and was split into two bathrooms for men and women. They each had five stalls for showers and two stalls for toilets. We let her choose which room she liked and since she was the first crew we have she can choose as she likes. She immediately takes the first room on the right. I don’t allow the two boys to help but the girl that came along helped us quickly fill the wardrobe. When we leave the crew quarters we exit and find the goblin and hobgoblin-kin walking around. For some reason I could feel Tony’s irritation. Considering how a dungeon is set to attack when invaders are inside, inviting others inside must be hard for him to ignore considering, especially his personality. I wonder how city cores handle this. Anyway we head to the bridge where we find Mirella’s family. In the air thinking he is out of reach, was Tony. “Are you set up sweety?” Mirella’s mother asked. “Yes mom.” Mirella answered her. “You two really have your work cut out for you with this one.” She said pointing at Tony. “Mirella, don’t you want one of your older brothers or friends joining?” Her father asked. “If THEY want to join then it’s up to Leah, but if it’s by your orders then I will beat them senseless everyday until they leave.” She says making everyone tense up. “GYAHAHAHAHA!! She is just like her mother!! A TOTAL S!! GYAHHH!!” Tony shouted only for Mirella’s mother to appear next to him and her foot making contact with his face. After a bit of his screaming he calmed down and hid away in his core and just talked through his own view. “Anyway, you will need a training area before you can do much.” She said. “We first need to purchase the outer shell of the ship so he can later expand it.” I tell her. She nods understanding more or less how much we have. “I would suggest for you to purchase more minions and upgrade those so you can take them to the dungeon. It will help out a lot to have a large number of minion class drones.” “Hmm… so more sentry drones?” I ask “No, you only have sentry drones which obviously are a good drone because of they have both shield and laser but they aren’t specialized robots. You were in the second floor so you gathered at least over 3000 MP correct?” She asked. I nod in reply. “Good, let’s see, there should be a 100 mp shield drone as well as a 120 mp fighter drone. There should also be a crab walker for 200 mp which has two weak laser cannons which shoots two shots per second.” She said, suggesting many of them. “Wow you sure know a lot. Living so long in a ship with a core must have been cool seeing so many minion robot's.” I reply. “Just so you know, when you leave drones on patrol with the AI controlling them it makes her grow a bit faster. Interaction of any kind that lets her use different senses will make her grow.” She said. “Oi lady! If I get trashy minions like this I will never expand!” Tony shouted. “Tell me, how would you protect yourself if someone invaded you?” She asked. He remained silent and didn’t answer back. “Good, so let’s go with the idea you have 3k MP for now. To join the girls tomorrow in the dungeon run you make 3 shield drones, 6 normal fighter drone and 2 improved fighters for you and the AI. This will cost 1020, then for your own safety you make six Crab walkers. Three will guard the bridge and the other three will guard your room.” She said finishing up. “THATS A FUCKING TOTAL OF 2220 FUCKING MP BITCH!! DO YOU WANT TO KEEP ME FROM EXPANDING HUH!!!” He shouted. “This is the error of many trained cores. They want to become large without making the proper defense systems.” Mirella’s mother said sighing. “Madam, are you going to keep coming here everyday?” I ask. “Hmm, while you're here I might come every few days. Why?” she asked. “Because with you here, proper upgrades can be executed and Tony will actually listen. So please visit every two or three days to give your advice to us about things that might be good to upgrade.” I asked. “Do we really need to?” Mirella asked. I looked at her with a serious expression. “The only method I know that will make him feel pain is suddenly feeding him a lot of magic power and I seriously don’t want to go all the way to his holder every time.” I tell her. Hearing this she looked at her mother pleading. The blue oni frowns as soon as she sees her daughter’s pretty face making a puppy dog ,looking upwards at her. “Urg...that...is cruel.” She said. “Well honey? Will you help the girls?” Her husband asks probably to get back at her for the kick in the face. “Fine...I’ll come once every 3 days, until then gather a mp and I will give suggestions but not orders. Also have your core develop its own technology. The earlier he starts making his own stuff the, easier it will be when the limit of the system known upgrades is reached.” She tells us. “As if I wasn’t doing that! The software of all this crap on the system list is weak as shit!!” he shouts at us. Mirella’s mother chuckled hearing that. After that I invite them to the top floor to eat a bit. They ate before leaving since they invited me it seems they ate so I make a bit for myself since I was hungry. As we ate Mirella and her family talked about themselves and past a few adventures and such. What was interesting was one story when she tells us when a tamer joined her old crew, and how they had so much trouble during the first month until the gathered enough MP to make an entire floor that was tailored to house animals and monsters. They both told me that the tamer brought in some serious fire power because he could tame the monster from dungeons and keep them passive. They were super powerful as well, according to them. After a while the students that came with them left and soon Mirella’s family also left. They told me to be patient with “him” and discipline him in needed. After that we spent the rest of the day talking and learning about each other. Besides just girl chat I asked about her skills, combat style, spells she knew, her best affinity. Oh right after everyone left Tony asked me something he asked before. “OI BITCH!! You said you would tell me what relation the moons have with the affinity of the monsters.” Tony said popping up next to us who were sitting in the bridge talking. “Oh right. I did say that.” I said irritated. “Ok Stuss.” I said and I saw him get annoyed but he didn’t reply since he asked for it. “He doesn’t know?” Mirella asked “Nope. He was pathetically caught when he just formed and then was trained before being sold.” I told her bluntly before he could say anything and she laughed openly in his face. “Now then, where should we start.” I say. “Start from the relation itself.” Mirella said. I nod and think for a bit gathering my thoughts. “Okay, the moons are special to the affinity because each moon produces a specific type of mana. The red moon, Kasai, is the farthest moon from the planet and it’s a volcanic moon about one fifth the size of our planet. But because the core of the moon is highly dense we fell weight at G1 which is a bit lower from our planets which is G1.3. Because of the high volcanic activity on the surface of the moon the mana on the planet is mostly fire mana. It also possesses a huge amount of mana released from it because of the monsters there being very powerful.” I said, pausing to let him process it. I thought a bit before continuing. “The blue moon Shui which is the smallest of the three moons with a core that is dense enough to make the gravity about 0.6 G. The planet is mostly covered in water and has many isolated island each with it’s own ecosystem. The planet being covered in water make most of the produced by this moon be of water element.” I say. He simply nodded. “The last moon, Shenmi, is distanced between the red and blue moons. It has a single massive land mass on the planet with just a few islands near the single continent and it’s cover 55% in water. This moon has a gravity of 0.8G. It’s super unique because unlike the other two moons that have an element this moon is different. It makes and releases mystic mana which is beyond unique with only at best 28 known moons or planets with the same effect.” I tell him. After ending he looks at me and leans back on the seat. “So? What the fuck is up with you?” He asked. I points to me inquiring about my mystic purple hair. “I told you, didn’t I? I have high affinity to Fire, Water and Mystic magic. I’m a 1 in 10,000,000 person that is born with 3 affinities.” I tell him.

“Wow, so that explains the hair. Never saw someone with three affinities before.” Mirelle said with very little surprise in her voice. “Is it that uncommon?” He asked. “Well, the population of the sentient creatures on this planet number around two billion. In this case with the 1 in 10,000,000 proportion, it would mean of the two billion people on this planet only 200 would have three affinities.” His brows raised hearing that. “Affinities doesn’t mean only I can use magic, It just makes it easier for me to use magic. Like for lower level spells with training I can use without chanting while others would need chants for even low class spells.” I tell him and Tony’s eyes grow wide. “OI OI!! Doesn’t that make you OP as fuck!!” Tony shouted. I blink a bit before blushing. “Ah… well, I was… told to keep that quiet by my parents. They told me to say I only had water and fire affinity so… please keep it under wraps.” I tell both of them. “Alright, seems fair since we will be crew we can at least trust us for that.” Mirella said. “Hump! If this didn’t affect me I wouldn’t promise.” Tony says. “As long as you can keep your own mouth shut then this dies here, understand?” He says and vanishes without waiting for an answer. “Hehehe. Tsundere much, guess he is worried about leaving promises.” Mirella said out loud and at once he appeared looking her directly in the face. “WHO DID YOU CALL TSUNDERE HUH!” He said in a deadly serious tone. “And what if I did holo boy? What will you do strangle me with your hands?” Mirella provokes him. After this the two argued for a long time, but eventually got over it. We planned out what we would do and how far we could go. Tony went off to start making the new robot minions for us to take tomorrow leaving us to plan.
