Loop 83 Year 8 Day 1 (Continued)

The main body of Little Emperor suddenly begins to shudder. The boy looks around frantically.

As soon as my monitors let me know that Little Emperor is back, I rush over to that section of the lab. The automatic door opens as I arrive.

LE is trying to break free of the restraints, but to no avail. They are made of such tough fibers that even my bots have trouble breaking them with force.

“Tsk tsk tsk. That’s not how you act in someone else’s house.” I make sure he can see me. “I’d have thought that you’d be able to learn something as simple as that. You are a Looper after all. You have all the time in the world.”

He stares at me, first in disbelief, then in anger. He tries to shout something, but the gag stops the sound.

“What’s that? You want to feel pain? Ok. AI!”

AI sends a large electrical shock into LE’s body. It is almost enough to kill a boy his size, almost. He doesn’t die, but man does it look painful.

“I guess that answers one question. AI note that subject has regained all cognitive abilities upon looping. Past causes cease to have the effect upon his mind. Also note that the body did not return to normal. Physical causes continue to have the effect upon his body.”

I go through several hours’ worth of experiments after LE loops. After everything is done, I have the bots unlock the piece where LE’s mouth is. Having conversation with another human after all of this time sounds interesting.

“You bastard! What did you do!? How did you get me?”

LE furiously demands answers.

“Doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I’m going to keep you here, and keep on getting you here in every loop. Unless you cooperate. I might think about letting you off if you provide me with enough information.”

He stares angrily at me, but doesn’t say anything. What can he say? I start the loop before him. I have enough time to completely eradicate him. He won’t have another chance to actually do anything unless I allow it.

“First of all, I want to know how you have two different powers. You seem to be able to loop, and have mind control. Tell me how.”

I sit down with a clipboard and pen, jotting down notes. I could do this all mentally, but it provides some amusement to seem like an actual doctor.

“I’m never going to tell you! You’ll just have to live with the knowled-“

I signal AI to shock him again. I sigh as I exit the room. The shocking will be carefully monstered. The moment it becomes too much, AI lowers the level of power. When LE gets too comfortable, AI increases the power.

Loop 83 Year 8 Day 2

I walk back into the room. “So how do you have two powers?”

I ask during the only break from electro-shock that LE gets. He spits at me.

I leave the room. “AI continue.”

Coincidentally it is Little Emperor’s 8th birthday today.

Loop 83 Year 8 Day 183

It’s been about half a year. I’ve got to give it to LE at this point. Nothing I do will make him spill the beans. He has been acting lately like he wants to give it up, but something is stopping him. It seems like telling me this secret is akin to giving up his life.

Well I would kill him forever after he told me. So it isn’t exactly wrong to think that way.

I’m creative in the means of torturing him, but he seems to just hold on to that secret. Today I end his life. I have a new plan. I have many of his clones already, so I am going to use them.

Loop 83 Year 14 Day 200

With AI’s help I now know just about everything there is to know about every part of LE’s body. Every strand of hair, every muscle fiber, everything. AI is helping me come up with the best method of torture for LE.

Since we have so many clones, we have been trying out the ideas on them. They don’t give a verbal response, but their bodies clench in certain ways under certain pain stimuli.

It’s a wonder I’ve never thought to do this before now. It turns out there is a limit to cloning. After a certain amount of time the embryo loses coherence when it is cloned. If I had known that I’d have kept the original for longer. I don’t have any more LE clones to work with.

Since I’m in a bit of a bad mood today, I send in the first six batches of embryos I bred to the portal.

Loop 83 Year 14 Day 201

The first batches vary in power level and powers. I have everyone stop at a distance that their bodies feel comfortable with. At each distance I have the ten experiments that show the most weakness prepare a base.

The others get closer until one person can’t stand it. Then the ten weakest make a base. Etc. etc.

Like this I have several bases leading up to the portal. Each one is to perform a separate experiment. Although they all share one goal: to see if it is possible to become immune to the effects of the portal.

The level nines, and APG manipulators have a base that is within ten or so feet of the portal. They are told not to get any closer that ten feet. I do have one clone in stasis that is less than two feet away though. I don’t want anyone touching the portal. That would create problems I don’t want to deal with at the moment.

This experiment is going to take several months, so I look towards the seventh batch of clones. These clones are made with the idea of strengthening the natural human body. Much like with the power users, I weeded out the undesirable sperms and embryos.

You might be asking how I have so much sperm from different people, and so many embryos if I eradicated all people on earth. The answer is simple. I use sperm stored from every sperm bank I could rob, and forcefully took out embryos of women.

I cloned the embryos so that I’d have a surplus. Once the first batch of people were old enough, I began harvesting the materials from them.

With the large surplus of baby making supplies I had no worries about what I needed to do.

I am going to try to fuse the bodies of the seventh batch to a molecular level. I want to see if I can make something with many minds work as one entity.

Loop 83 Year 16 Day 201

Today marks the second anniversary of the experiments with the first six batches of clones. The results thus far have been promising. Those that couldn’t withstand being near the portal at first, now have a sort of immunity to it.

This also comes with an added bonus. It seems that prolonged exposure to the portal acts as battery, supercharging any power user close to it. The closer one it, the more prominent the effect.

All of the rank 1s have become rank 6 or higher. All of the rank 2s have become rank 8, without exception. It seems that is the limit of the increase for most people.

Everyone below rank 8 became rank 8 after prolonged exposure. Even the previous rank 7s have been stuck as 8 for over a year now.

The people already rank 8 have become rank 9. The power upgrade they got is quite something. Finally, the rank 9s.

Normally rank 9 is already a god within that field. It seems that was a bit of an overstatement. Those that were rank 8 before, can’t hope to compare to those that were already rank 9. I’ve made a new category called: Cat 10. It is the new pinnacle. I named it Cat 10 instead of rank 10 to distinguish them.

This time I had a special experiment going with three of the subjects. The subjects were cloned from the same sperm and embryo. The subjects lived exactly identical lives until the point where they had to be near the portal.

One subject was put in less stressful situations before the portal though. His ability was only at rank 8. All three had a similar but different power.

It seems like two of them have the power to turn air into APG. One has the power to turn the oxygen in the air to APG. One has the power to turn Hydrogen in the air into APG. One has the ability to turn water into APG.

The one with water is the previously ranked 8.

The two rank nines can produce so much APG it’s unreal. I decided to test them to see who is more powerful. The hydrogen subject had been told to be slightly closer to the portal at all times. The other was a bit further.

I brought them into a specially constructed base. It had equal parts hydrogen and oxygen. They were given a breathing apparatus to allow them to stay alive.

The hydrogen user can produce APG about twice as fast. Each of the two already had control over APG as well, but the hydrogen user could manipulate the APG in a wider area, and for a longer time. Just by being able to create and manipulate any APG in a fifty-foot radius put them on the rank 9 scale.

The radius of the oxygen user was a few hundred feet now. The hydrogen user could go for miles. Literally for miles. I’ve decided to move my entire base of operations there. If only two years could do that to these experiments, think of what it could do for me.

Loop 83 Year 22 Day 251

It’s been over six years now. I have no noticeable difference in powers or mental capabilities. The others have grown stronger though. Now the all of the first six gens are at category 10. They have unbelievable amounts of power.

If I could harness the power of just two of these subjects, pre-bombs, I’d be able to conquer the world in a day. Cat 10 really does seem to be the end. Nothing gets past a set parameter of power. The total area anyone can effect is a sphere of exactly 1000 miles in diameter.

I had hoped my mental abilities would be enhanced because of the close proximity of the void, but it turns out it isn’t going to work like that. With AI testing me once a week, it was easy to see that I had the same exact capabilities.

Loop 83 Year 23 Day 1

I am doing a new type of experiment now. I am raising clones near the portal. Not only am I creating clones, I am having the first six gens breed to produce babies. I want to see the babies’ natural power level.

Loop 83 Year 27 Day 15

The clones are not quite as powerful as the offspring of the first six gens. They are all rank 9 though. The offspring of the cat 10s have all become cat ten within four years of their birth. Quite the power.

Both groups bred near the portal have a strange fascination with it. They have mental capabilities far beyond normal 4-year-olds. They are more like young adults. The brainwashing still had full effect, but they occasionally glance at the portal. I don’t want anything to happen so I close off that area with turrets.

Loop 83 Year 40 Day 115

A new group of offspring turns 4 today. I had the group that was born here breed at the earliest possible time. By that time everyone near the portal was a cat 10.

Some of the older cat 10s have shown signs of resistance to my mind control. They have been eliminated.

The new generation are all cat 10. They were since their birth. They also seem to have powers beyond their parents, not just a fusion of them.

Even though I made sure some of the first six gens didn’t have the APG power, everyone now has that as a power.

It seems that being closer to the portal when one is conceived has this effect. I know because I made one subject get conceived here, but born and raised in a different location.

Although the experiments that grew up here all have higher levels of power than the one that didn’t grow up here. My guess is that the younger one is exposed to the portal, the more it will show effects.

Loop 83 Year 80 Day 300

I put the experiments near the portal to rest. I kill all of the subject related to this project. The past three generations have all had incidents where the conditioning is completely ignored, and they try to leap into the portal.

It only got worse with each successive generation. So I put them all down. I have their DNA backed up in AI, and my mind. I also have hardcopies of their sperm and embryos. The eggs taken from subjects born of a cat 10 can last in any known condition outside of a vacuum.

I put the eggs underwater, in the desert, in a frozen tundra, in a forest. They live in those environments for years. That’s right years. The ones I left there still haven’t died.

They are basically indestructible as well. Only something made of graphene has a chance of damaging them. I looked at the atomic structure. Every cell of the embryo is coupled with a single Pure ATG atom. It seems to make the cells almost invincible.

The subjects born from this also have increased physique. I’ve noticed that over the last few generations. They seem to be getting better in every respect. Even their minds work at a higher level, seeing as they can break the compulsion I set on them.

I have to kill the living subjects by injecting them full of acid, and crushing their bodies with immense pressure. Just one won’t work. It has to be both. I think I’ve created a monster race.

I kind of like it.
