《Rebirth in a corrupt world》Arc 4 - Chapter 6 - Spoils and Moving on

Author: Thank you guys for reading. (Not my longest chapter but I will do a double release tomorrow since I have off)
I know Kuro has it exceedingly rough, but at least he doesn’t ‘Remember’ the lives that happened before Earth.
Also, be careful not to make assumptions in my story as I mentioned making things different as much as possible with this genre. Things may seem to head in one direction at first but...I’ll let things explain themselves in due time. Happy reading.
---------------------------------------------
Kuro’s POV after separating from Amare
Ah, she is really mad at me. *Sigh* I can only blame myself as I was indeed negligent and I can tell how worried she is for me. This isn’t a bad thing though as it’s a good lesson. Plus, I could go through the items the Concord sect had gathered over the years in the meantime while the others go about their usual business. This short break doesn’t really change anything in truth as Puerial’s village isn’t going anywhere and is only at most a month away with diligent travel.
The troops also brought everything that would interest me personally as everything else was either put in storage or used to help out around the city.
Looking through everything, I ignored the money. I’m not that interested with currency as the sub-chosen are trying to develop currency similar to earth in order not to waste so much metal. We plan to have an exchange building for people leaving to areas not under my control. Monitoring markets in other areas will be necessary to keep the exchange value fair. Though this is all for when things are fully established as things are still developing, making this something for the far future.
What intrigues me right now is anything that I can use, be it for research or as useful material. Information is also welcome, historical texts being one of them as my own understanding of past events aren’t accurate and understanding what happened can help me understand how to act for the future. Even if I thought history was useless on earth, here, it can make a lot of difference.

Gazing at the documents in front of me as I channel Light mana throughout my body to heal the effects from when I removed the foreign mana, I discover various arrays that seem useful. The array for the barrier I encounter before being one of them. The ones that suck out the victim's blood was put to the side for later examination in the future.
Even if I can find all types of uses for it, it left an unfavorable impression among the troops. Only a few of my guys perished from this array, but the remainder of the meat shield group after scaling the wall was practically wiped out. I’ll just find applications for it that doesn’t apply to anything that stands out too much since it's still too fresh on everyone's mind.
Besides the arrays, there was a written account of the sect's history. Most of it was glorifying their dominance over the so called lower class and the many ‘righteous’ acts they committed against any who resisted.. They listed a bunch of major events over the years as well, but none of it was anything useful to know. I’ll just have it analyzed by the historian I employed to apply to the annals I am making in the library for the later generations to reference.
Finishing up with the books and parchments, I looked at the various items laid out in front of me. Jewelry, arms, various ores and a few other odds and ends. Unlike the gold, the jewels can be used as catalysts in wands and staffs if properly affixed to them. The various arms mostly have enchantment arrays I’ve already learned except for a few like [Mana efficiency up (small)] and [Cast: Quick Barrier (weak)] that seemed useful. I’ll have to experiment to make them stronger though.
Most of the ores have varying demerits for weaponry, though that doesn’t mean they don't have their uses when applied to their strengths. One did stand out to me though as it seemed perfect for mage equipment. [Crystian Ore], it’s not suitable for melee weapons and the like, but it’s perfect for channeling mana and has a slight refining effect making spells easier to cast and more powerful. With this in mind, I made a few rings for when we cast magic and a new wand for Puerial after refining the ore.

Empyrean Magic StickWeaponRank: B-Description:A wand created with perfectly aligned crystian metal with a Versilian metal support structure for an increase in durability. It was affixed with a superb quality jewel at the hilt to increase spell quality.Effects:Durability up (Upper Medium)
Self repair (Small)
Elemental Damage up (Upper Moderate)
Mana efficiency up (Small)
Mana channeling speed up (Very small)
Targeting up (Lower Medium)
Clear mind
[Cast: Quick Barrier (weak)]
Hmm, not bad. It’s ability to circulate and release mana far exceeds the previous one, not to mention it's additional effects. Puerial should be happy with it.
Everything else had various uses but didn’t stand out too much. I simply past the time healing all of my energy channels while reflecting on the fight. Time passed quickly as I felt my body return to its peak condition. The damage caused by the foreign mana was serious but not difficult to deal with.
After a week, me and my group set off to continue toward Puerial’s home.
“Kuro I can't wait to introduce you to my family. I know that the things they told me are a bit much, but I know they aren’t bad people.” (Puerial)
As we grew closer, Puerial became more and more excited as she spoke about her friends family and various foods to eat. I may have been given a bad impression by some of the things Puerial said, but it's better to see things for myself before anything.
Shiro was looking forward to meeting people while Belle was more intrigued by their lifestyle itself. As I recall, she lived in a cabin when she grew up and enjoys forest areas.
“Hmm, bandits?” (Kuro)
“I got them, I want to work off breakfast cover me if anything happens.” (Belle)
Without waiting for a reply, Belle took off to fight the bandits. By my estimation, there is 26 no 27 bandits as one is hiding in a tree.
“Puerial, there is one in the tree there.” (Kuro)
“Got it.” (Puerial)
*Crash* “Ah! My leg, somebody!” (Bandit)
In about 15 minutes, all the bandits were left moaning on the floor. I had created a suitable number of slave collars and proceeded to do the usual.
“Hey Kuro, do you think everyone will be impressed by how strong I got?” (Puerial)
“Considering how you were when we first met compared to now. I would be surprised if they weren’t.” (Kuro)
“Ah, when we first met. My dark history.” (Puerial)
By dark history, she is referring to when she recited a line from a book in panic. She always has a dark expression when it’s brought up one way or another. It was indeed a comical experience.
“D-Don’t smirk at my suffering! Just forget it already!” (Puerial)
Even if she says that, I can't forget anything even if I want to.
“Puerial is great.” (Shiro)
“NOOOOO!” (Puerial)
“What was it she said back then.” (Belle)
“Heh, be awed at your fortune for meeting the great me.” (Kuro)
“Pfft, What kind of line.” (Belle)
“AH! Kuro!” (Puerial)
“Don't mind it so much, you were panicking back then after all.” (Kuro)
“Au, you guys...don't make fun of me.” (Puerial)
Like this, our journey passed by quickly as we grew close to Puerials home. Travelling through the forest, we finally grew close.
“Something...feels different about this place.” (Puerial)
That line, I’m pretty sure there was a term for saying things like that on Earth. Ah right, raising a flag.

A/N: A few things came up but I’m not gonna disappear so don't worry.

Stealing Is An Art Form | ✓
Solace Laurent and Sage Reyes never got along. They fought and competed over everything, whether it was grades or afterschool clubs. She hated his arrogant, I-don't-care-about-the-rules behaviour and he loved to annoy her. Not one day went by in high school when an argument didn't break out until he disappeared without a trace. Solace, along with Sage's family and the entire school, thought he was dead. After months of criminal investigations, search parties, and missing persons posters, he was nowhere to be found. But what happens when Sage shows up at her doorsteps in the middle of the night, bruised and bloody?***"Sage?" whispered Solace in utter shock. He smirked at her as he leaned against the doorframe, looking her up and down from her blue penguin pajamas to her oversized t-shirt until he met her eyes. She felt a rush of emotions when she heard his voice after six months. It was the same: deep, unbothered, and familiar. "Solace Laurent, I need your help."
