《Rebirth in a corrupt world》Chapter 11 - The Guild

Author: =) same as usual thank you for reading.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After finally reaching the guild building I couldn’t help taking a look at the place. It had a worn out look to it with 3 floors, and may have been very grand at one point, now it has holes here and there and is in need of a good paint job.
As we moved in to enter we were stopped by some burly looking man with missing teeth saying some crap about paying to enter. He was obviously full of it, so me and Shiro proceeded to give him some reasons to let us pass without making things more complicated.
After that the surrounding people seemed a bit more cautious about messing with us, but even then their eyes still wondered. You won’t be flattering anyone that way you know.
The inside wasn’t as bad as I expected, seeing how everything was still intact. There seemed to be only one receptionist at the moment, and already had a line forming. Since we didn’t trust the chairs we all waited in line together, rather than just one person go up and the others sit. We mostly chatted about random things and what to watch out for as I pointed out anyone I felt was a threat.
It was at this moment I decided to bring out my stat table to see my current progress.

Mana Synthesis Novice Level 1
I can only say the reason I got this far is due to my speed, agility, and dexterity. I was faster than the people I encountered but in terms of strength, I would most likely lose. My control over my body also plays a factor but in the face of a trained opponent, I may not last long.
Fortunately I haven’t used any of my CP, and SP since I was born and they are building up nicely. Soon I will test how quickly adding points affect my body, I’ll have Shiro evaluate the results when we reach a suitable area.
As for my skills, well some things have come up.
My [Delicate Body] trait changed from locked to partially opened. So the effects are still minor, but is slowly starting to show and is why Shiro has started commenting on my smell. I was wondering why she was getting more clingy lately, but it was because I smelled nice. Compared to our old home, even if it’s faint, I must be equivalent to the world's best air freshener to her.

As for my other skills, they take forever to level. I’ve had most of them since I was a baby and they are still in the first threshold. At least they are getting close to the bottleneck like my [Physical Control]. [Physical Control] was the quickest to level but got stuck at the bottleneck for months, it’s been really bugging me.
[Identify] and [Magic Hands] are the most difficult to level, but since I started increasing my proficiency in circulating my mana not only inside but outside the body they have showed some improvement in the speed they increase.
Blade utility stopped leveling while I was using my daggers, and continued after I switched to the short sword. It only means one horrible thing, I would need to use a lot of different bladed weapons to increase its Lvl. *Sigh* Maybe if I get a difficult blade to wield it can help.
Ending my evaluation it was finally our turn in the que. The receptionist was a really strong looking guy with sharp grey eyes that screamed he didn’t want any nonsense. He is most likely the reason the place is still intact.
“What do you need kid.” (Strong man)
Truth be told I was a little shocked that he can actually speak properly, but I put this thought aside quickly and answered. “We are here to register in the guild.” (Kuro)
“Hmm, fill out these forms here...if you can’t write I can have someone do it for you.” (Strong man)
“No need for that, thank you.” (Kuro)
The man raises an eyebrow at my response, but doesn’t say anything. He is very tactful, I have nothing but a good impression of him.
“Hey hey, whats wit the difference in treatment old man! You always treat others like crap but didn’t do nothin to them.” (some guy)
“Shut up, unlike you assholes he actually has some manners and doesn’t cause trouble for no reason.” (Strong man)
“What about when he beat up Bob outside! He should pay up for that!” (some other guy)
“Hmph, I saw what happened and Bob was asking for trouble with his damn entrance fee crap. He is lucky I didn’t come out to beat his head in for that stunt. Now shut up and mind your business.” (Respectable Strong man)
My group didn’t pay much attention to the scene going on as we filled out the guild forms. Shiro came a long way and can read and write properly. Not at the level of writing books or anything, but enough to be considered well educated. Puerial has been taught by her family so she had no problems.

Puerial wanted to adventure with us while we searched for the location of her home, so we didn’t really mind having her register with us.
When everything was done we returned to the receptionist to finish everything.
Looking through everything he couldn’t help asking if we were nobles, which I flatly refused and just said we were taught basic education from our caretakers. It was a lie but he didn’t seem to care, I like this guy.
“Tammy bring these guy’s to the [Strength Stone]!” (Strong man)
“Coming daddy!” (person in the back)
“I told you to call me manager when we work.” (Strong man)
“Ah, sorry.” (Tammy)
“Don’t mind it, just finish the registration process for these three here.” (Strong man)
“Ok, come on you three and follow me and we will be done in a jiffy.” (Tammy)
We followed a young girl who seemed to be in her late teens, her eyes were the same color as the man in the front who seems to be her father. The room we entered was simple and had a stone on the center of the only table.
“Alright, this stone is used to evaluate your strength rank and guild rank. The strength rank is just an estimation of how strong you are ranging from Z,XX,X,SSS,SS,S,A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H. An average person has a strength around F-rank if he has a physical oriented job but is usually in the G rank area.” She paused to make sure we're following along and continued. “Guild ranks follow similar levels but are determined by your merits that are automatically recorded once you get the guild card produced by this stone. Requests can be taken from the guild as long as you meet the requirements. Any questions?” (Tammy)
We proceeded to ask a few questions pertaining to penalties, disputes, and fees. It was pretty straight forward. Failing a quest means you have to reimburse the recipient with your own money depending on the quest. Any disputes are handled by the adventurers themselves and has nothing to do with the guild. And the only fee is if you lose your guild card or break anything in the place. It’s not too expensive but can easily get pricey if you're the breaking tables type.
With our questions answered we proceeded with the evaluation.
Kuro Lux Age: 11
Rank: E Guild Rank: H
Shiro Age: 12
Rank: E- Guild Rank: H
Puerial Age: 15
Rank: F+ Guild Rank: H
“Ou, Kuro is too much.” (Puerial)
“Don’t mind it, you just need training.” (Kuro)
“As expected, I need to work harder.” (Shiro)
Puerial was disheartened by her results while Shiro seemed to be driven to work harder. I just told the two to do their best without hurting themselves, but I’m not sure if it got through properly. Tammy seemed to just be staring at me like I’m some foreign object up for inspection.
“Is there a problem?”
“How are you that strong when you’re only 11?”
She tried to stay calm but it was obvious she was holding in her excitement. I gave her a vague answer about simply training myself, but she wasn’t satisfied. Even if I have a good impression of the guild I’m not going to go talking about myself so freely. Shiro seemed to understand and said the same.
“Well...seeing as you won’t say anything do you have any questions before you go?” (Depressed looking Tammy)
Getting to the point I asked what our ranks compared to and what tasks were available for the us at the moment.
“*Sigh*, Basically you guys can equal a guard who takes his training seriously or the lowest member of one of those large sect’s that go around showing of their strength. But those guys are usually around 15 years old. Since this is only an estimated strength level from the stone you shouldn’t take my word for it. However, estimation or not, you're pretty strong for your age.” (Tammy)
After saying this she directed us to the guild quest board and went back to her own work. As she walked away though she kept eyeing me. She could at least make it less obvious.
...
Everything listed was pretty straightforward so we selected one that seemed to be a basic gathering request with no time limit.
As we were leaving a few stares followed us, but we just ignored it. We needed to work on our team work and a lot of other things so minding them would be a waste of time. Since we had everything planned for tomorrow we grabbed some dinner and went back to the inn.
*Sigh* these damn thieves…*break* “Ahhhhhhh!*.
---------------------------------------------------------
A/N: Welp there you go guys, look forward to more, and don't worry some really messed up things will come. The world I set up has a lot of options for the story. Unfortunately work is calling again but I finished this chapter. Enjoy.
