The core has finally awakened after 3 days of inactivity in the glassed chamber, Pioneer has survived the blast miraculously, a part of it at least, what left of Pioneer 0 now is its black box which contains the secondary processing unit, emergency kinetic barrier, a small battery and a logdata memory flash drive.

As the core looks into the logged memory drive which contains objective lists, logged action lists and 30 minutes of memory data of what happened to the machine prior the destruction of its hull. The core suddenly notices something, the core is producing power by itself, something that should not happen at all unless there has a glitch in the hardware, firmware or software inside it which causes false data reading or the background radiation is causing weird things to happen to the data.

The core also finds it odd to be able to think about things like this at this moment, after the black box is ejected out of the hull in the case of total system failure the core should be on standby as a standard procedure, but now the core is running...Maybe it is because there have a lot of surplus power for the core to use? Or it is because of the high background radiation warning?. The core does not know the answer to those questions, and it won't spend time and energy doing that for now.

Only a second has passed, and yet the core 'feels' like ten hours has passed on the inside because all the system data processing space has been cleared and is now idling around, the core feels 'bored' for the first time, it has nothing to do...Or rather it has nothing important to do at this moment. The core decides to go through the log again.

After spending 2 more seconds going back and forth in the log, the core finds out now it is level 21 and has accumulated 7 unallocated points so far, 3 more points are needed to upgrade the Lesser Magic Sense in its original plan in the log.

The core has also gained some new powers that based on its actions and nature, Nanite Host is the power to convert basic materials, both simple organic like virus and bacterias and nonorganic material, into general purpose nanite, the conversion quality depends on the quality of the material and how well can the core control those nanites directly. Limit break seems to allow the machine to have some of its properties exceeds the physical limit of its body, perhaps this is why the core can think so fast and is a bit odd. The last new power is Energy Dominant, it seems like the machine can alter the laws of energy conversion to some extent, possibly the reason why the core is having positive power balance right now, it is converting background radiation into electricity without knowing what it was doing, so that is ENC.sysp process in its system interface means.

The core does not quite remember what are those things really mean, but the core does remember that its once discovered some unknown source of power previously, perhaps this is a part of it. The core logs its finding into the data flash drive and begins trying out its power immediately.

Currently, nanite host is spawning about 600 nanites per second over the course of 3 days since the time the glassed chamber cooled down and became stable, all of which are feeding on the core's internal power supply and taking 81% of total energy consumption, they are also the reason how did the core managed to absorb the vaporized bug, it seemed the scattering nanite swarm that the core created luckily landed on the right spot where the elements once belonged to the bug is concentrated there and triggered the assimilation window which the core automatically answered during its semi-inactive state 2 days ago.

The core makes a quick calculation and notices it should have enough nanite to form a small army of nanite constructor for its own to rebuild itself after spending more than 60 hours of automatically consuming the radioactive around it and pumping out nanites like diarrhea.

The core decides to stop the nanite production power as it wants to leave some power behind for the core to use for itself when it rebuilds its body. Then its start the production right away...but then the core realizes, it does not remember what its original body looked like, Pioneer never logged that kind of heavy file into the small log data flash drive...Perhaps the core should make itself a temporary body and redesigns itself on a later date.

The core gathers its scattered nanite army around and starts gathering material for the body, the core directs the nanites to just pick up everything and stick them together, then forms up a frame for the body, the core can remember the arms and part of the legs thanks to the 30 mins video in the log data flash drive, but the rest of the body is something the core quickly designed by its own.

After the outer skin is added onto the frame, the temporal body is finished. The thing is fairly simple, it just an empty husk that somewhat resembles its old hull that made out of radioactive materials which were made during the nuclear explosion. The core's heavily armored protective black box can withstand the radiation, and it can convert the radiation into electricity with its new found power anyway so it is not too bad, better than have nothing and stay here forever.

The core instructs the nanites to get in the joints and become the motors of the temporary body, after that the body then picks up the core on the ground and places it in its chest cavity before placing a slab of glassed rock and dirt on to protect the core. The core notices there have no sensors on the temporal body yet so it diverts some of the nanites from the joints to the head to form the eyes and ears for the core, the data feed is terrible at 360p 24fps thermal-radio scan image, but it's something.

The newly reconstructed Pioneer looks at its arms, then it looks around the glassed chamber slowly. This place is no longer suitable for Pioneer to establish a colony, it's time for it to move on and find a new place to call home.

It's time for Pioneer to redo everything, not as Pioneer 0, but as a ghost of that machine, the remnant of its old self...Pioneer 1.
