《Gamer》Chapter 14 - God's Realm

First I'd like to clarify a couple of points on the previous chapter.
1. Yeah the MC was gullible. It comes from arrogance, how can they possibly hope to match up to his abilities?
2. He obviously did expect a trap, but would you expect that the magic itself was the trap? Probably should have investigated why rifts were not opened willy nilly.
3. If it wasn't obvious enough, the destination of the rift was magic itself. The 'grass plain' he pictured did nothing.
4. Saul's opinion on light magic is based on what the empire knows and what they did know, it would be in their best opinions not to teach Jon.
And I had a long explanation for the lack of scientific knowledge, but summarized up. The authorities believed Earth was worthless and left it at that.
Now regarding my release schedule. I take far too long, we all agree on that. I'm going to cut down on the amount of PR I do on each chapter from several re-reads to a brisk scan for obvious errors.
When I first started writing this, I didn't PR the first few chapters. But as I wrote I began to do more and more PR on each chapter until it reached a point where I dreaded the PR. Delaying it for weeks.

Discovered new world: ???
I don't even recall leaving the rift, I was suddenly in a room with my body lying on the ground. My body too heavy to move and my vision staring directly upwards. What I could see however was a blue sky, no sun despite light being everywhere.
"Sit up and face me" a quiet voice spoke.
All debuffs have been removed
I could feel my control over my body return, heavier than normal but I could move again. However my main concern was the voice, that debuff lift could not have been normal. Sitting up, I saw pillars of marble surrounding the open aired room. At the end of the room was a huge throne, and on the throne sat a simple man.

God of Magic
Palms sweating and limbs feeling like jelly. I didn't dare stand up. It was obvious he wasn't human, surpassed anything human, and demeaned himself to my level for my benefit. I hated the feeling I got from his presence, of inferiority.
"What do you want"
I opened my mouth and closed it again. Would he care for such a trivial excuse?
"You were tricked into coming here" he spoke.
He could read my mind.
"Are you of any use to me?"
I couldn't think straight, but I doubted it.
He lifted his hand, "Goodbye Jon"
I could only close my eyes, accepting my fate. My fate was inevitable. But a second passed and another and I was still here. Cringing, I slowly opened my eyes as the god spoke quietly to himself.
"Interesting"
The god sat there on his throne, eyes on me as he thought. His hand was pointed towards me and as I watched, he slowly began to lower it.
"Pawn" he muttered, a slight smile on his face.
He looked at me and smiled evilly. "You entered my realm, and to my rules you will bow"
I was going to live.
"You say you are a gamer. So let me propose a game for you" he spoke with his mouth twisted in mirth. "80 worlds you must conquer, defeat, complete to the end. My game you will play, play to the end"
I could feel something had happened, but I didn't know what. 80 worlds? I had to destroy 80 worlds?
Gamer level 9 has been forcibly unlocked
Quests are now accessible
QuestConquer the worldsDescriptionOrdained by the God of Magic you are to conquer 80 worlds of magic.
Escape is impossible, refusal is impossible.
Worlds remaining: 80Rewards???
I was so screwed.
I opened my mouth to speak, but he spoke first. "When we next meet, I'll permit you one question. Do not face me as a failure"

The title Pawn has been gainedA pawn in a higher game.
First impressions are very important and as such people are naturally inclined to see you as a usable pawn.
This title may be changed by your actions
My vision went black and a window started counting down
Entering world in 5
. . . . . . . . .
Entering world in 2
Entering world in 1
And just like that, I was in a new world.
Discovered new world: Tralin
The floor underneath me was replaced with forest, oak trees rising about me. I sat in the middle of bushes and the nature about me was peaceful. But my heart was not still, I was scared, utterly terrified. The series of events I had been through, they were not normal. This was not normal. And I'm meant to take the world over 80 times?
QuestAccompany the PrincessDescriptionPrincess Lily has no throne, accompany her until she takes the throne.RewardsWorld Conquered
Reading it more than one time, I sighed in relief and a little of the despair that weighed me down disappeared. I was not going to conquer the worlds after all, but seemed to be doing a quest in different worlds. Far easier.
My body felt like lead, a side-effect of my inventory carrying a lot of things and my stats having decreased. But I could still stand, and I wanted to look around first before doing anything.
Getting up was difficult, my body still felt weak from the shock of betrayal and meeting with the God. But I could stand, and when I stood up I saw I was in the middle of bushes next to a dirt road, less than two hundred meters away I could see two people approaching dressed in dirty travelling clothes with leather backpacks slung over their shoulders.
Lily lv.3 Princess
Kane Dawson lv.9 Mercenary
It seemed she was my princess. The next step was obvious, and cringing already I opened my stats.

Oh, that didn't seem to be as bad as I had originally thought. The (9) next to my level seemed obvious enough and indicated what my actual combat level was. I couldn't possibly be fighting at a level 19 state, and if it had deleveled me then it would make it easier to gain back my stats. It seemed a good compromise.
But for now.
Stepping out of the bushes onto the road, I faced the two travellers as I held my arms up to show I was harmless.

The Lies They Told Me: Short stories from my life
Like many of my peers, I've discovered that life is not quite what I expected it to be. As I age, I've begun to find that many of the sayings and truths that my parents, authority figures, and friends have passed on to me were outright lies. Every person I know has been subject to the same interactions, which got me thinking, why not write a compilation of stores about my life experiences to date. I hope that this book will help all of us come to terms with the realities that we face today or deal with some of our deepest feelings about the past. Maybe these people lied to us and maybe they honestly believed the myriad of things they told us, but either way I think we can have a good laugh looking back and remembering the first times that we realized these things weren't true. I also hope that you can look back at the lies, or life lessons, that you've learned and can be inspried to own your stories and share them with others in a genuine way. Wiithout further ado, I hope that you enjoy the many short stories of my life that made me who I am today. These stories range from funny to down right surrel, so good luck on your journey!

Life is a game, with intrusive microtransactions.
Life is a simulation. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging we are just a part of someone's dream, lines of code existing to give purpose for some machine or anything, but why would this unknown entity add microtransactions in it? Maybe because that way it can wake up faster, by consuming parts of it's dream, until... well, who cares about an unknown entity that has nothing to do with this particular story?
