Authors Note: This will be my first attempt at a fight scene so please comment; are the spells ok, is the description enough or am i missing something. On another note i will try to get another chapter up before Christmas but i cant promise anything at the moment, stupid holiday assignments.

‘Nice now I actually have a presence in this world, shame about the new look though. Pink, and not one of those shades of pink but bright luminescent pink, I’m not really the type to say pink is for girls and blue is for boys but come on look at me. Doesn’t help that this worlds old fashioned the nymphs have already started calling me mistress damn it. Anyway back to the status because life’s too short, I’m in too good a mood and I swear when I find who’s in charge of these status screens I’m going to give her a spanking, what if it’s a dude, fuck that Il make him a girl and then spank her. Ok, the status, I got a new rank, new titles and the ability list is so long it has its own window and search option. I also gained a couple new abilities along with my growth let’s just open up the list and have a closer look.’

‘This is a bit worrisome, the abilities themselves are brilliant but the consequences, not so much. For those of you wondering what I’m talking about think for a second, in every other-world novel or web-novel fairies and elixirs are valuable commodities to most races. Now look at me, I’m practically an oasis of valuables all it would take is some adventurers discovering me by accident and it’s all over, Ellie we need to talk about our situation.’

Ellie who was still talking with the other three nymphs turned to face me before replying.

[Ellie] “Yes mistress what would you like to know?”

‘Let’s see, wait a second I haven’t even asked where we are, I’m guessing the central continent but were exactly. Ellie could you tell me our current location on the central continent, what threats we need to worry about and how you would normally deal with them?’

[Ellie] “Yes mistress, we are currently on the east side of the continent in the Forest of Wolves. As the name suggests our main issue is wolves, beasts aren’t a problem but the monsters are another story, there is also a human settlement nearby so adventurers will show up on occasions.’

‘Great adventurers, I specifically didn’t want this to happen, not to mention monsters but she said beasts are ok, aren’t they the same. Ellie what’s the difference between beasts and monsters?’

[Ellie] “Beasts are considered apart of nature; they are born, they survive and then they die, they hunt and kill to survive. Killing a fairy would be counterproductive since we won’t let it happen again and kill any of that species that approach from then on, this will eliminate many of their hunting grounds. Monsters are creatures who only seek destruction; though they may look similar they attack any living being indiscriminately.”

‘So beasts are like animals from my old world while monsters are abominations, so how do you deal with them?’

[Ellie] “Normally beasts treat fairies as a part of the background since they don’t want to be hunted by nature itself.”

‘Like when a park animal is hunted because it killed people, but wait a minute didn’t you say while crying that you would be killed by wolves?’

[Ellie] “That was the situation at the time; fairies have a close bond so long as they are a part of nature, but if a nymph loses her tree like what happened then they are no longer pure and are denied help by the other fairies. But you let me have my tree back so now I’m accepted as a pure fairy again, this never usually happens so there’s a loophole.”

‘Purists and here I thought fairies were supposed to be all friendly and helpful to each other. So the situation with beasts is like hunters eyeing a really aggressive herd, attack one and you have a stampede but take out the loner who’s rejected by everyone and your fine.’

[Ellie] “Monsters are the opposite of us fairies, they are created from the world’s corruption and seek only to destroy. When there’s a high concentration of negativity monsters are born, it is also possible for other races to be converted into monsters by this power; the undead are a good example.”

[Maria] “But you don’t need to worry mistress with 4 members of the fairy race guarding you, right girls?”

Tia and Aria nod their heads.

‘Forgot those three were still here, but anyways monsters are created from world corruption, with magic I guess its equivalent to pollution or maybe radiation, I wonder if this is a natural occurrence or caused by other races.’

[Ellie] “As for adventurers, there’s not much reason to come here so long as we stay hidden, this is a low rank area only suitable for hunters and gatherers. That is until you appeared mistress; we might have to start fighting them off unless mistress doesn’t mind sharing her powers.”

‘Unfortunately I know how these things go, first it’s a few petals here and there then before you know it Il be stripped bare maybe even chopped down for research purposes. Ellie can you tell the others to warn me of any approaching threat and if possible protect me.’

[Ellie] “Of course mistress that is what your servants are for.”

‘And Ellie please change how you call me, I prefer a male title even if it isn’t as fancy as mistress, please.’

Ellie turns to discuss with the other three nymphs before they turn and leave the clearing.

‘I hope this will sort out all my troubles, especially the one about my gender, doesn’t really change much since I’m gender-less, but I still have my pride as a former guy.’

POV: Ellie

[Ellie] “Ok everyone our mistress has tasked us to protect this clearing from any unsavory elements.”

[Maria] “Hah, with our new strength not even C rank adventurers could get by us.”

[Tia] “Aren’t you exaggerating a bit, in large numbers we don’t stand a chance.”

[Maria] “That’s because you haven’t touched the new supply yet, I’ve already invested in my power; the last monster wolf I met was crushed in one move.”

[Tia] “But that’s so barbaric.”

[Maria] “That serves him right for attempting to mark his territory before attacking.”

[Ellie] “You don’t have to use brute strength, magic is also a possibility.”

[Maria] “Oh don’t you talk, all your stats have gone beyond a simple growth spurt, never mind crushing monsters they’ll flee in terror at the sight of you.”

[Ellie] “I can’t help that the mistress chose me to carry her gift.”

[Aria] “But you could tell us everything mistress says and not simple pieces.”

[Ellie] “Wha…what are you talking about, I might shorten things a bit but I assure you I tell you everything that’s important.”

‘I can’t tell them that I got his gender wrong again, if they found out my position as the elder might become contested.’

[Aria] “Riiiggght, well that doesn’t matter at the moment, something has come within range of my tree, if I’m to follow mistresses orders I need to get there quick.”

[Ellie] “I’m coming with you; it’s the responsibility of the chosen to protect their mistress.”

The duo walked away towards Aria’s home leaving the other two nymphs to go their separate ways to reach their own homes.

Arriving at Aria’s tree the two then begun to discuss how to deal with the threat that was approaching.

[Aria] “Can you sense that, looks like a group and they’re very cautious unlike the normal monsters around here?”

[Ellie] “Yeah, good thing I came with you to provide assistance.”

[Aria] “I’m not incapable I do know how to defend myself, but it will go easier if I use your body as a shield.”

[Ellie] “Yes it will… wait what, what do you mean by that?”

[Aria] “Never mind so what’s your capabilities like in battle?”

Unlike the mistress normal beings on Floeria cannot use status, however if they focus they can have an understanding of their potential like an estimation. This will also explain why Ellie was surprised by the window the mistress used to communicate; only very powerful beings or artifacts can create them.

[Ellie] “Thanks to mistresses blessing I was able to evolve into higher version of tree nymph, not only am I free to travel without penalties but my stats have had a tremendous boost.”

[Aria] “That’s not all that got a huge boost, from what I can see you got a few unnecessary attachments.”

[Ellie] “Don’t talk about them like that.”

[Aria] “Maybe they store the nutrients you use for long distance travel.”

[Ellie] “Quit insulting them, uggh anyway even with the boost I seem to be focused more towards magic, and I have a few new spells that cover a wide area.”

[Aria] “Good, I’ve invested more towards manipulation so I’m a bit limited in my options at the moment.”

[Ellie] “Wait what does that mean?”

[Aria] “You’ll find out here they come.”

From the trees emerged a pack of five wolves seemingly confident of their ability to take down the two fairies. But a closer look will tell you otherwise though there shape resembles that of wolves there brown coats are dyed with all manner of substances from dirt to blood. There coats were damaged in multiple areas showing infected wounds and their eyes were crimson red. These are signs that these wolves are monsters known as Ravaged Wolves; they are born when a wolf is corrupted and loses the ability to heal wounds as such it inevitable ends up in such a state. The wolves were arranged with one large wolf at the center of a square created by the other four. The large one probably attained the rank of pack alpha before being corrupted explaining its size and ability to control others. Such an existence is only slightly stronger than the other Ravaged Wolves but its ability to control a pack raises the risk level.

[Aria] “Il restrain them, then you use one of your spells to annihilate them.”

[Ellie] “Got it.”

The large wolf howled before the pack started to advance slowly not showing a single bit of caution, the corruption will do that to you; mind, body and soul nothing is safe once it’s got you.

[Aria] “Would you mind restraining them for me, please?”

Aria spoke those words while stroking a nearby tree, the tree immediately replied by sending its roots up above ground and binding the legs of the five wolves.

[Ellie] “By the will of the forest, I claim your flesh, Root Pit.”

Before the wolves could react, the earth beneath them exploded outwards and the wolves were tossed into the air. Roots flew from the pit and grasped for its prey, once it gained a hold of a falling wolf it immediately descended and pulled its prey down with it into the pit. This was repeated for all the falling wolves; even the larger one could not defend itself against such an onslaught. Once all the wolves were in the pit, the earth moved and the pit was sealed as if nothing happened.

[Ellie] “…”
