《Watching Grass Grow》Prologue Part 2: The Soul Exchange
Advertisement
Authors Note: I looked over my first release and have made improvements to the other chapters, I didn't realize the spacing was that bad. Anyway my story will have a pretty lengthy prologue, it's annoying I know but it will tie in to the rest of the story, eventually. It also let's me get some practice on my writing before I get to the good stuff, there will be proper speech in this one rather than an inner monologue, please tell me what you think it will help me to improve, thank you.
In a dimension outside of our own, 5 beings of immense power and authority have gathered to finalize the deal that will alter not only our world’s fate, but another by the name of Floera, now seated together forming a half circle these beings begin to converse.
[???] “So to clarify today’s agenda in exchange for the assistance of a certain God of Creation in protecting the Milky Way from an apocalypse, a being from Earth will be offered to Floera to act as a catalyst in advancing the current inhabitants. This being shall be chosen by the mentioned God of Creation with the permission of Earths current gods, any questions?”
(???) “I have a question Fila. What’s with the way you’re talking, you sound like a host for a talk show?”
[Fila] “Since it’s a rare chance to look at another Gods realm Amaethon, I decided to look at the local entertainment and might have been influenced slightly.”
(Amaethon) “You better be careful, that stuff will rot your brain and kill your personality.”
[Fila] “Really, but it was so entertaining how could it be so dangerous?”
{???} “Uhmmmm…. aren’t we getting off topic?”
[Fila] “Ah right sorry about that Irena, as I was saying the being to be transferred will be selected by Floera’s representative. So who is this being that has been chosen Alena?”

“I found an interesting lad by the name of Joseph Phisher; he seems at the appropriate age for transfer, while possessing the knowledge were after.”
[Fila] “Hades, as the flow of souls is your area of expertise what are your thoughts?”
=Hades= “Joseph Phisher, 18 years old, average life, neither good or bad karma, pretty decent education and he’s expected to die from an unfortunate meeting with a truck, pretty convenient.”
(Amaethon) “At least he can consider himself lucky for having a second chance…. Alena is something wrong you seem to be unsettled?”
“Yeah about that I might have acted on my own to get hold of the soul earlier.”
=Hades= “How so?”
“Don’t get angry I only moved a few objects, it was barely noticeable.”
[Fila] “Let’s use her memories as evidence and judge what happened for ourselves.”
“Wait…. What…. No Stop!”
Before the 5 beings a screen of light appeared and began replaying the final moments of Joseph Phisher from the eyes of his murderer, the Goddess of Creation.
(Amaethon) “What am I to say about this?”
=Hades= “You brain dead Goddess do you realize what you’ve done, over a dozen people just saw you bend, twist and break common sense before their own eyes.”
“You said he would die anyway….”
=Hades= “From a simple road incident, not a complicated supernatural phenomenon.”
[Fila] “If anything Alena, your methods took longer to kill him than the truck would have running him over.”
“I thought you were neutral in all this?”
{Irena} “I told you we should have left him alone.”
“Irena! You’re turning on me now.”
{Irena} “I’m sorry; please forget what I just said.”
(Amaethon) “So where is the soul that you procured?”

“I’m currently retrieving him from the void zone where I misplaced him after his death.”
{Irena} “Heeee!”
[Fila] “Oh my.”
=Hades= “You brain dead moron, do you realize what you’ve done?”
“What’s the problem, he was only there for a few minutes?”
{Irena} “Alena.”
[Fila] “Dear me.”
(Amaethon) “I agree with Hades, you must be clueless to leave anyone in the void zone for any length of time.”
“But there’s nothing that could harm him in that space?”
=Hades= “That’s the point; there’s nothing at all, an empty abyss with nothing but your own thoughts.”
(Amaethon) “It wouldn’t surprise me if he went mad.”
[Fila] “After 10 minutes he probably went insane.”
{Irena} “Alena, what have you done we needed him for our world.”
“Calm down…. Look I’ve got him; I will just bring him through now.”
=Hades= “This is going to be a nightmare.”
[(Fila & Amaethon)] “Agreed.”
{Irena} “Sorry about this.”
“Here he comes now, get ready.”

Cannon Fodder - A LitRPG Story
Not even alien scum can take down a squad of US Marines! When his dad died, Kerry Peters did the one thing he knew would have made his father proud. He signed up for the Marines. After barely making it through basic training and four days after deployment, he wasn’’t confident he’’d survive his first tour. As a bookworm, he wasn’’t considered a real soldier and most definitely not a hero. Fate, however, has had other plans for Fire Team One, and when the squad woke up in camp alone, the fight was no longer against the Vietcong … but against creatures from other worlds. Deathless Towers
Transformed & Leveled up! Check for Deathless Dungeoneers. If you enjoyed the first incarnation of this story, you will most likely enjoy its successor more. This story wasn't going the way I wanted, there were too many things wrong about it, and so I gave up that ghost and started over from scratch, keeping only the Cuttlefish of psionic doom, and the magic system. This fiction is no longer supported. Climb. Kill. Become Deathless. Rhen yearns for the magic to save his home realm from the devastating Kavga invasion. To earn that power, he must first survive the trials of the Deathless Guardian. Paired with a psionic cuttlefish from another realm, Rhen must cultivate his spirit to tame magic he’s only dreamed of and conquer his tower to ascend from an expendable recruit. But it’s not just Rhen and his psi-pal looking to join the Deathless guild, and their rivals will stop at nothing to secure a position. If they fail to defeat their tower in time, Rhen will be sent home, dishonored and powerless. Can he fulfill the promise he made long ago and rise a guardian, or will he perish in the trials of the Deathless?
