Author notes: Hi guys, I finally managed to complete this chapter. It was a long one, about 1.5 times a normal chapter but it was worth it. This chapter will clear almost all doubts concerning the MC. Look forward for the next chapter as it will be a spicy one ha ha.

That day after the test we immediately started going back, as my discussion with the Void came to an end we were almost at the castle.

As soon as we reached the castle my brothers urged me into the grand dining hall where the family was currently dining. When I reached the dining hall I noticed my uncle Ganong as well as four elders in a heated discussion with my father.

I stood at the far entrance of the dining hall and bowed deeply while my brothers simply went to my fathers side. From my position I could see my uncle's and elders frowning expressions as if asking what are you doing here.

It was my big brother who started talking first

James - ' Father, our brothers testing ceremony is completed '

Father - ' Oh! What are results? '

James - ' You won't believe it, he has high affinity for lightning element '

Gates - ' and above average affinity for fire element '

Father - ' what! '

When brothers told this sentence my father who always maintained a neutral impression in his position as a Duke, still couldn't contain his excitement. Soon he started laughing and said ' Riddick come here '

I went to the side of my father and gave a light bow in greeting

' Father '

Duke - ' So I heard you have high affinity for a lightning element '

Me - ' yes,father '

I did not know what this council was but I did know that it was of grave importance because my elder brother rushed towards elders mansions while the remaining elders as well as my uncle faces were ugly to behold.

Why did my uncle and elders who never backed away even at my father's orders were keeping quiet and why were their faces red with anger. I can somehow understand them but why was my father's face showing a savage smile.

The first one to come was my mother, seeing her I bowed deeply to show my respect but she upon seeing me came forward in big strides and hugged me to her bosom. I was shocked by this course of action but was unable to say a word because I was overwhelmed by emotions I experienced for the first time, My own mother died early so I never had a mother's love.

Unknown to me my tears started flowing, I wanted to control my emotions but I couldn't. Seeing me crying my mother wiped my tears.

' Your Ladyship '

' No Riddick, call me Mother '

' ........Mother '

' I could no longer contain my feelings and wept hard '

' Don't worry Riddick, after today everything will be over. You will gain everything which is rightfully yours '

I did not understand what she was saying but I did not care as I got a mother, I did not care about anything.

By the time I noticed my surroundings I was greeted with the gazes of six elders who just arrived, hurriedly I began bowing to them but was stopped by my mother with a not necessary expression.

The elders expression turned ugly but they did not say any thing. They simply took their seats. My father who was watching me with a gentle expression turned towards the elders and my uncle, his expression turned murderous.

I shivered at this sight of my fathers gaze. What was this feeling though it was nothing compared to the void there was a difference, the pressure of the Void was just an enormous presence he never emitted a killing intent but this was pure killing intent to the point that I started sweating. My mother took my hand into hers and told me it was fine.

My father who was silently sitting till then suddenly started talking in a loud voice, full of authority.

' It seems my son indeed possesses lightning affinity of high standard '

One of the elders started speaking ' This is a very prosperous situation for the clan my lord. In the future...'

He was interrupted by my fathers shout ' Who do you think you are Linen(elder's name) without my permission no one is allowed to open their mouths '

I was shocked at my fathers words. I never thought my father was a person of such imposing personality. He continued ' So this confirms that he is indeed the son of lady Elizabeth Hall '

Who is Elizabeth Hall, according to my fathers words she should be my mother but why does my affinity conforms my mothers identity. As I was thinking suddenly Void said ' looks like there is a underlying story about you boy, it should explain the reason why your family loves you yet keeps you at a distance '

What did Void mean by that, just what exactly is happening here. My father seeing my blank face started explaining the events pertaining to my birth and my mother about whom I did not know anything.

' Son, your mother was the heir to the Hall family. Hall family and Elsevier family share a long history. They both came into existence as rulers about a millennium ago, we were both situated in the Reinfield territory. Reinfield territory was divided between the two families. Though we shared borders, we never had any differences between us.

The balance between the two families changed when a war happened between Great Alliance and Northern Empire about five hundred years ago. At that time a sneak attack was launched on the Hall territory when the main forces were at the front lines, so they asked for our support.

We were in the same position with majority of our troops away from home. We decided to take a gamble to help our allies, we did successfully repell the invasion but at a great cost. Our Elsevier family lost many of its members needless to say of our troops.

To compensate for our losses Hall family decided to serve us for five hundred years, after which the rights of their territory will be returned. It was a contract signed in front of his majesty, the King.

For five hundred years Hall family served us. Halls were a family of mages with lightning attribute in their bloodline so they never intermarried to keep their bloodline pure, but during the course of war which went on for the next three hundred years, the hall family lost many members.

This pattern continued until there were only the main branch and a single branch family. By the time of your mothers generation there was no hope of marrying between themselves, so their clan leader decided to start marrying others.

Your mother son, was the court mage of this dukedom as well as a close friend of Catherine, ten years ago I once went to the eastern border of the Great alliance under the orders of his majesty, though the war lasted only a year it was a gruesome affair. I, who had no company was charmed by your mother and committed the sin of laying my hands on your mother.

After the war ended I was ordered to leave my troops at the front lines for a year, as the commander of mage corps your mother stayed behind, I returned to the dukedom to inform Catherine of my decision to marry your mother, Catherine was happy that she was going to become sisters with Elizabeth.

After taking her permission I returned to the front lines immediately to inform Elizabeth. It took me almost a ten months to travel to and fro from the front lines. I returned only to find her missing along with all remaining members of Hall family.

I followed after her trail only to find her in a gruesome battle, I immediately stepped in but was too late to save your mother, she in last moments gave you to me saying that you are my son. I killed of all assassins except one. I brainwashed him to tell the instigators that you along with your mother were dead.

After saving you I kept quite about this matter for a year then I simply bought you back as a son of some woman I took fancy in, his caused the instigators to be infuriated as I simply bought a third child to replace the one who they tried to kill with so much effort.

Riddick, you should know about the laws of Elsevier house, the second son of the family will be sent to act as a acting leader of Hall territory only when there is a third son to continue the blood line in case of a misfortune, thus you were labeled as a bastard child with no rights to dukedom by the instigators.

Because of this I had to keep quiet about your lineage and just silently wait till you are eight years old. At this time your affinity of lightning will come to light which will give me a strong evidence, now no one can say that I bought a third son just to have complete territory because according to laws of family without a third son, Hall territory will be ruled by the head of branch family.

Now, no can oppose me.Elders according to laws of family you will keep quiet as now I will announce in my capacity as a Duke, My third son Riddick is here and now declared as the only heir of Hall bloodline and upon reaching adulthood will become the Duke of west Reinfield.

Does any of you know how much I suffered to see my child in such state for eight whole years, how he always bowed to people, how much burden he had to carry by being called a bastard child with no mother, I spent nights without sleep when I couldn't even greet him on his birthday.

I had to do all this to take suspicion of your eyes, I kept my most loyal knights concealed as his bodyguards, I couldn't protect Elizabeth but I will protect him to the end.

I was completely shocked when I heard of all the events from my father, so I was not born to a loose woman but to the grand mage of Reinfield territory, as I didn't know my mother I felt a unexplainable sadness engulf me, as if sensing what I was going through my mother folded her hands around me and said

' Riddick, from now on you will always have me '

Feeling the warmth of my mothers words I looked towards my father only to see him with same murderous aura only it was amplified by several times. Opening his mouth he said in a chilling voice

' Branch head Ganong, Commander of Dukedom's army any last words '

I turned only to see my uncle's normal face which is usually covered by a meek smile showing a savage grin. He spoke in a growling voice

' Thenadier, Dieee '
