《Blood and Honor》Chapter 244- Mind Scape

Underdark- Forelorn Depths Region
Fallen Obsidion Kingdom- East Hall
To say the Myrmidons were surprised at where they were would be an understatement. More than one wanted to ask questions, but they knew the rules and would respect the NDA and Jacobs wish for silence. Seeing the massive army of Undead backing them, not to mention the Bone Chimeras, also surprised them. Jacob had commissioned three new Bone Chimeras to replace the ones they lost.
"So how is this going to go?" Jax asks as he walks up.
"The Dead Legion pushes into the Central Hall and hopefully pulls all the Mind Warped to them, once that happens we will unleash the Bone Chimeras. Once the Mind Warped are fully engaged, that's when we will make our move and start hunting for the Aboleth." Jacob outlined as he checked his belt and the potions there. This fight would be the Mind Warped against the Dead Legion mainly while the Immortals would hunt down and kill the Aboleth.
Nearly two hours later, the Dead Legion is making steady headway. So far they had downed six Boss monsters, yet they had no inclination of where the Aboleth was. Until the army was defeated Jacob was pretty sure they would not be able to track the thing down.
Suddenly the challenging roars of Fomorians filled the hall causing Jacob to smile. The Bone Chimeras were unimpressed and had already killed two of them. Four of the Bone Chimeras were already injured though and due to their massive health pools, Jacob was making sure they were regenerating by normal means and not through magical.
Two Fomorians emerged from deeper in the Central Hall, all the Immortals are waiting for a chance to throw in. Jacob quickly talked to Jax who nodded and immediately assigned several parties to deal with the new Bosses. The Dead Legion made way for the four parties of Immortals that move to intercept the two Fomorians. Twelve Boss Monsters of all types had been thrown at them by the Aboleth. Well, at least they now knew where they had all gone and why they had not been in the North and East Halls. Of the original twelve thousand Undead they had started with, they had just over eight thousand left and one of the Bone Chimeras had been destroyed as well. In return, the One had lost close to if not more then ten thousand Mind Warped.
For now, the battle was over and the remains of the Mind Warped army had withdrawn. Scouts were out and pressing further into the Central Hall, other then an occasional Mind Warped, they found nothing. So everyone ate and relaxed for a little bit then the Dead Legion pushed on, the Immortals sweeping buildings and clearing out any Mind Warped stragglers. Finally, a scoute reported back that the majority of the Mind Warped had fallen back to the central Palace in the center of the hall. 'Figures, the guy is an arrogant prick. He would set up in the palace once he had taken over.' Jacob mused to himself as the Dead Legion pushed on.
Jacob saw his first problem as they approach the palace. It's a fortress swarming with Mind Warped, but that's not the problem. The problem is a giant pillar grows out of the center of the fortress and it appears to be holding up the cavern they are in. Unlike most games, Fate Online has destructible environments, so if they crack the pillar it might bring down the whole cavern. That limits what they can do in assaulting the fortress. No explosive ammunition for the Death Wagons, no sending in the Bone Chimeras, and the Mage types have to be careful with what spells they use. The Geomancers especially have to be careful because they literary warp the earth using their spells.

Anastsia, Jax, and the other officers quickly gather and start hashing out a plan. Within twenty minutes the meeting is broken up and the Death Wagons start lobbing the Poison/Plague ammunition into the fortress. After thirty minutes of bombardment, the Dead Legion and Immortals move forward. A reserve of a couple thousand and the Bone Chimeras remain behind. Jacob and the other Immortals down a potion Abraxxus had created. Once he had refined the potion he just need more egg fragments, he had more than enough bone from the original skull Jacob had gathered. The results of going back had been well worth it. Spoiler: Spoiler
Greater Mind Fortification Potion: Increase Mind Resistance by 40%, +10% Chance to resist Mind Bomb, Mind Entrapment, Mind Scape (Duration: 1 Hour)
The Myrmidons had offered to pay for the potion, but Jacob waved away the cost. They were helping finish this fight and taking out a dangerous enemy, it was well worth eating the cost of the potions. "You realize that Greater Resistance Potions usually go for at least 50 Gold per dose. You just gave away about 10,000 Gold." Darren enlightened Jacob as they entered the outer gates.
Jacob twitched a little at that before cursing under his breath much to his friends' amusement as he pushed into the fortress/palace. "Ok, break up by groups of five. You all know the drill. Mop-up any remaining resistance, if you spot the boss, sound off in the raid channel." Jacob yelled out as the Dead Legion swarmed the area. Paintings, sculptures, and other valuables adorn the hall. It reminds Jacob of the Palace of Night, except with all the corpses of the Mind Warped. Dozens of bodies lay within the palace and on its grounds, except for a few Mind Warped that were critically low on health and easily dispatched, the Aboleth had not been found, yet.
The throne room is a different story, sitting on the ancient Obsidian Throne was a being that glared at Jacob and his party. It has grey skin wearing leather armor and has a large ornate crown on his head. It also has whiskers growing out of its face, not hair, but sensory type whiskers made of flesh and bone. It has a knife and sword on opposite sides of its belt.
Battle Alert...
A being with a Mantle of Divinity is nearby!!!
Battle Alert...
Jacob snarled and swiped the notification away as the thing on the throne sat back and smirked. "You have finally come. I did not expect to find another god with all these dead things. You are probably wondering why I am different from my kin. Well, unlike my dead brethren, I consolidated my power. I destroyed my children so I could become stronger and now I am unstoppable. I will crack your head open like an egg and take your Mantle boy. I will then crush their minds to my will." The being snarled out. Jacob quickly analyzed the being in front of him. Spoiler: Spoiler
Name: The One (Unique Demi-God)
Level: 65 (Boss)
Health: 1,500,000
Mana: 1,000,000
Armor: 4,000
Note* The One was once a normal Aboleth, but fearing defeat consumed its brethren and children consolidating its power and manifesting a Mantle of Divinity. It is a master of Water Magic and Psionics, be very wary of various mind manipulations this creature can create.
Raid Channel...
Need help, found the Boss. Throne Room. 1.5 Million health. MOVE YOUR ASSES!!!.... Jacob
Jacob quickly updated the raid chat before closing it out and ignoring any response. The Cleric and Elementalist immediately started Buffing the party causing the One to laugh. "Do you think you can defeat me, boy, by the time the other Immortals arrive I will control you." The One spit out before its eyes started to glow and darkness claimed him. When Kevin opened his eyes he was back in his apartment and rolled out of bed immediately. He had been doing something...what was it. The other occupant of the bed turned on the bedside lamp and looked at him. "Jacob, what is wrong?" Ava asked as she rolled to face him.

"I was doing something...Something important." Jacob mumbled as he looked around the room. This was wrong, she should not be here.
"Jacob come back to bed, we will talk about it in the morning," Ava said as she offered her hand to him beckoning him back to the bed.
Kevin's head hurt, this was wrong. Ava had done something, something bad. He shook his head and headed toward the door of the bedroom. Ava quickly rolled out of the bed and put her hand on Kevin's chest. He quickly moved back, "Don't touch me!! This is wrong, get out of the way Ava."
"Kevin, come back to bed, we will discuss this in the morning.' Ava implored him and Kevin was tempted but then something thumped against the door. Kevin could hear whispering in the background and the headache grew. 'Please Kevin, trust me and come back to bed. Everything will be fine if you go back too sleep."
Kevin wanted too, more than anything, but this was wrong, he could feel it was wrong. "No Ava, something is wrong and I need to leave," Kevin told her and tried to get around her but she jumped on him.
"Stupid boy!! I am trying to help you. Just go to sleep and you won't have to worry about anything." Ava spit out as she tried to push him toward the bed. Wait!! BOY!!!
Kevin/Jacob Snarled as he grabbed one of 'Avas' hands and broke the wrist eliciting a double toned scream from her. "You dumb fuck. You choose this bitch to use and try to manipulate me with. I fucking hate her!!" Kevin/Jacob screamed out as he slammed her into the nearby wall and away from the bed. Kevin/Jacob then threw Ava away from him and walked toward the bedroom door.
"If you leave, you will never achieve greatness. I have seen what you face, you cannot defeat Chaos, go back to sleep and give up boy." Ava implored causing Kevin/Jacob to smile as he reached the door and opened it up.
"I am going to enjoy killing you," Jacob stated as he walked through the door. Battle Alert...
Mind Scape broken...You are Immune to Mind Scape for 1 Hour
Battle Alert...
Screams filled the air as Jacob dismissed the Alert and looked around. His other party members stumbled around as the One rolled around on the ground screaming and clenching at its head. Jacob quickly checked its health, nearly twenty percent of its health had been blasted away by breaking the Mind Scape ability, Jacob was pretty sure it was also suffering under a deluge of De-Buffs as well.
The others are recovering quickly, Jacob lashed out with Entangling Shadows and Shadow Bolts. Three of the Bolts hit the One before he managed to get a shield up and cought the last two. Jacob activated Leap and slammed into the still-recovering Boss and quickly followed up with Triple Slash. The One staggered back before making a shoving motion towards Jacob. Jacob felt something slam into his chest and he was sent flying into the opposite wall. The One screamed in pain and its health pool dropped another five percent from exerting itself.
Slamming into the wall cost Jacob about ten percent of his health, but no bones were broken. The Cleric quickly dropped an HoT on Jacob as he moved to reengage the Boss. The Ranger, Elementalist, and Berserker were waiting on Jacob to attack again before doing anything. With a roar of challenge, Jacob charges toward the One who desperately pulled his sword and dagger out of their sheaths but Jacob didn't give him time to set himself.
Jacob is quickly joined by the three DPS as other Immortals flooded into the throne room. The One activated various abilities that slowed the cast time of Mages and damaged them over time, but the melee types are unencumbered as an all-out assault broke out on the One. Less then fifteen minutes later the One, a self-proclaimed god is dead. Jacob and the other Seekers of the Dawn let out yells and screams, they had started cleaning out the Obsidion Kingdom over a month ago. This was a great achievement for them. The Myrmidons are just happy to share it with them as well as the perks for killing a unique Boss monster.
Alert...

Alert...
Jacob sighed and sat down after looting the body, leaning against the Obsidion Throne but not on it. "So what was with the whole god concept and no other Aboleths being here?" Jax asked as he sat down near Jacob.
"That guy slaughtered his own family to make himself more powerful. If he had not done that, he very well could have beaten us." Jacob stated as other Seekers wandered around checking the hall for hidden treasures. Jacob didn't plan on sacking the city, he had plans for this place and the people that settled here. They would need the wealth to repair and get the Obsidion Kingdom on its feet again. Jacob brought up his Alerts from the battle.

I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.
