《Blood and Honor》Chapter 243- Desperate Times

Surface- Storm Break Bay Region
Empire of Night- City of Anchorhead
Docks
Ships were starting to fill the harbor, it wasn't near full capacity, but most of the docks were full. Forty Advanced Merchant Vessels filled most of the slips, most had been former pirate vessels. Thirty-six Light Triremes, twelve Brireme, and six Triremes rounded out all the military vessels. Almost double that number of fishing vessels bobbed in the harbor or near it.
Most of the vessels ran patrols around Anchorhead or were pushing further and further into pirate territory. Each day, Imperial squadrons captured or sank between two to six pirate vessels. It provided steady experience and it was considered fun by his guildmates.
"So what are you going to do with that fleet?" Darren asked as he joined Jacob at the docks.
"I got a War Quest to capture the Lost Islands, so once we have beaten the pirates back I plan on using them to invade and capture those islands.' Jacob replied before turning to face the Rogue. 'Is everyone ready? We are going to try and capture the last segment of the East Hall today." Jacob prompted the Rogue.
"We are ready as we can be. We got sixty-five people mustered for this and all the Dead Legion there as well. I think you got nearly ten thousand of those nasty bastards. I assume you and Nadal made a battle plan?" Darren asked as they walked away from the docks and towards the Lower City Plaza.
"Yep, we got a plan. I have no idea if it will work, but we got a plan. So how is it on the forums today?" Jacob asked the Rogue.
"Yeah, everyone is going ape shit over the devs announcing the Empire of Nights first annual PvP tournament. Questions are already flooding in from our contacts within the community by the way, and I am sure the Devs want to release more information as well." Darren stated deadpan as Jacob chuckled.
"Get used to it my friend, something tells me it will be worse before it gets better," Jacob told him as they approached the Plaza.
Underdark- Forelorn Depths Region
Fallen Obsidion Kingdom- East Hall
Jacob watched as the Dead Legion pushed into the last unclaimed part of the East Hall. The Mind Warped swarmed their position, but between the Death Wagons and AoE spells of the Mages, they were keeping them at bay. "Dude, so...whats the plan?" Darren asked as he staggered up to Jacob. He is covered in blood and gore which is on par with the whole guild.
Jacob smiles at the Rogue as he downed a Minor Health Potion before looking up at the ceiling of the cavern and lets out a whistle. The Bone Chimeras, lead by the Alpha, drop from the ceiling and slamed into the packed ranks of the Mind Warped. "Target fixation, guess arrogance is not the only weakness the One has." Jacob laughed out as he moved to join a group of berserker types.

"What are you talking about?" Darren asked as he watched the various Immortals down potions that gave temporary Buffs, check weapons, and equipment.
"Target fixations is where someone concentrates on something so much they will ignore the obvious around them. Say like eight huge Bone Chimeras climbing up the walls and onto the ceilings. I gave the One a target, us. Then had the Bone Chimeras climb up the walls and over the enemies. Once all his forces were committed to the attack, have them join the party." Jacob explained as he activated his Buffs.
"So what do we do now?" Darren asked as he unlimbered his knives and started activating his Buffs.
"Kill them all, this is a slugging match, either they are destroyed, or we are. A called on more of the Dead Legion to reinforce the parts of the East Hall we control so we have a safe place to fall back too, but I don't plan on falling back again." Jacob replied as he drew Moonlight. Jacob gave Darren a crazy smile before darting off with a dozen other berserker types, Darren started cursing as he ran after his friend laughter spilling from his lips as he joined them in the madness.
About an hour later the battle is over, they had lost three of the lesser Bone Chimeras, nearly four thousand of the Dead Legion, and eight of the Seekers of the Dawn. A high price but the whole of the East Hall belonged to them now. They had slaughtered anywhere between ten and twelve thousand of the Mind Warped. The surviving member of the raid was looting all the corpses before throwing them onto the burning pyres.

Jacobs cursing filled the nearby area and when people asked what the problem was, he sent them a screenshot of the new quest. Soon Jacob was joined by every single Immortal in cursing. "Myrmidons?" Tarren asked as he finished looting another body.
Jacob didn't say anything, just nodded in agreement.
Surface- Twin Rivers Region
Nation of Ebron- City of Easthaven
Jax and Fred were waiting for Jacob and Darren as they emerged from the portal, a handful of other Mymridons were with them keeping an eye on the Locals and nearby Immortals. Being dressed in low-level gear bought a lot of anonymity from people though.
They quickly made their way to the mercenary building, it's still early for them, but they opened quickly enough when Jax offered them a couple of silver to open up early. Jacob and Darren are visibly tired and hungry from the long night and battle in the Obsidion Kingdom. The Kitchen crew immediately went to work for another handful of silver.
"So the great and powerfull Jacob Longstrider is back since you didn't ask for a meeting with any other guilds I assume this is business. So give me the NDA already so we can get started." Jax prodded once the food had been delivered and the room sealed magically from eavesdropping.
"So where are we going this time?" Fred asked as he signed the NDA.
Jacob smiled, "We are going to the Underdark again, most of the work has been completed, but we got one more big fight ahead of us. We will need assistance with. We will need a party of two hundred, all of them have to be higher than level one hundred. NDA will apply to all who go about where and what we fight. Nothing gets out." Jacob stressed and the brothers nodded.
"Yeah, yeah, we got it. What are we going to be fighting?" Jax prods trying to get the goods on what they will be facing.
"An Aboleth, it's ancient and has the remains of an army with it. Your primary job will be to punch a hole through the army and help kill the Aboleth. Don't worry about the army though, I have that covered." Jacob told them as he tore into the food in front of him.
Jax and Fred are stunned silent before Fred starts laughing and holding out a hand to his brother who grumbles as he pulls a purse from his inventory and slammed it onto the desk before sitting back and started muttering to himself. "Don't worry, I just had a bet going to see if this would be another crazy job or a campaign mission. Fighting an Aboleth falls under crazy." Fred supplied as he sat back after picking up the purse and shoving it into his inventory,
"So we need higher-level Mind Mages or Psionics, which are rare because they are a pain in the ass to level," Jax stated and Darren nodded in agreement.
"We will be paying ten thousand gold and all the loot from the army, any Boss or Bosses will belong to the Seekers," Jacob stated and Jax snorted.
"We will need a bigger deposit then ten thousand, for a higher level Mind Mages we will need no less than fifteen thousand gold," Jax replied and Jacob considered what was at stake, they needed to finish this up.
"Agreed," Jacob replied as offered his hand to seal the agreement. Jax immediately shook it.
"So you guys are hosting a PvP tournament, how many people are you expecting to participate?" Fred asked excitedly.
Jacob snorted, "No idea. Open enrollment will start in a couple of weeks, we will have some idea of how many participants we will have. My worries are if we will have enough people to watch and make money off of. The Empire is sinking a lot of money organizing and funding the fighting if people don't show we will lose a lot of money." Jacob explained and the brothers snorted in amusement.
"Do you have any idea how many state-sanctioned PvP tournaments there are?' Fred asked and Jacob shook his head. 'Three that I am aware of. All of them have limitations or you have to be sponsored by a guild. This tournament will pull in a crapload of people. The Devs hinted that you would have pretty open about level requirements. So that will win a lot of supporters and viewers." Fred explained and Jacob nodded.
"Well, hopefully, you are right. Now how long will it take for you to organize a raid group?" Jacob asked putting them back on task.
"Twenty-four hours, forty-eight tops, I will send you a message as soon as possible." Jax supplied and Jacob stood to offer them both firm goodbyes.

The Sun's Remnant
Two people are transported to a world with magic, but it is no Wonderland. When the god of light died, he decided to take the world with him. At least, that’s what many believe in the Kingdom of Rhine, a once vast kingdom of which only a small corner remains — and even that is threatened. On one side, by the Twisted Forest, a corruption spreading from the deathplace of the gods that has already swallowed up most of Rhine. On the other, by the resurgent Kagrathan Empire, resurrected by the infallible God-Emperor Karlatz. A holy order of knights carry out their mission despite the death of their god. A band of talented misfits prepare for a heist out of their league — by stealing. Mages hunt for secrets even as the world ends. A ruler does what must be done to save the living, no matter the cost. Into this world of magic and murder, two adrift souls are inexplicably dragged: a mother estranged from her young daughter due to her own mistakes, and a young man with a love of fantasy who has gradually drifted away from his friends and family. As they each struggle to find their place in this world, they must also answer the question: do they want one?***Content Warning: I've drafted about 100,000 words (most of the first volume), and there is no sexual content so far, though I may add it in the future. There is occasionally gore and traumatising content as the story demands. I commit to keeping all of the above non-voyeuristic. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
