"Who will defend and patrol the city if the guard is disbanded?" Captain Hammersplitter asked as he told the Dwarf that the Mabus city guard was being dissolved.
"The Fifth and Sixth Legions are being stationed here for the time being and the Civic Legion is here as well. As far as jobs, those men can enroll in the Legions. The only military within the Empire is controlled by the Empire, not by individual cities. This is not a request Captain, this is a command." Jacob told the Dwarf who frowned but nodded before bowing and leaving.
"Having fun being king?' Darren asked as he entered the office causing Jacob to glare at the man. Jacob then took the silver circlet offered it to the Rogue that immediately recoiled from the item. 'Hell no, I would never be stupid enough to accept a crown. Plus despite our jokes, you do a very good job at being a king." Jacob acknowledged the compliment before placing the circlet back on his head.
"Disbanding the city guard of Mabus, as one of my first acts, is not very popular. With the Fifth and Sixth Legions here and the Civic Legion already spawned, it's more than redundant. I told the guard leadership they are more than welcome to enroll with the Legions, but it's voluntary, not mandatory. At least not yet. I have opened up recruitment centers for the Legion in every city within the Empire. I am hoping this will give us a steady flow of recruits so I do not have to institute conscriptions." Jacob told the spy who nodded in understanding.
"On to business, that Seneschal is scared shitless of someone, I guarantee he knows who did the killing or is fairly sure, but I don't think he will talk," Darren stated causing Jacob to sit back in his chair and think.
"Suggestions?" Jacob asked the Shadowmaster.
The man frowned studying Jacob before responding, "We can continue to press the former Seneschal, but I doubt it will work, or you can just execute him for the murders of the city leadership, which he was compliant with. Whatever you decide, the guy deserves to die for what he has done." Darren responded.
"This guy was intimidated by whoever did or ordered the killing, and you want to execute him for not standing up too him?" Jacob asked quietly and Darren frowned.
"If you had not intervened, this city would be under the rule of Chaos, thousands would have died. The only reason why their plan did not succeed was that you intervened. Part of that plan was the assassination of this cities' leadership. The Seneschal could have warned them or the city guard. He did nothing and both the leadership and hundreds of Legionnaires are dead because of it. Yes, he deserves to die because of that." Darren stated and Jacob nodded as he sighed. Jacob brought up the reports from the losses from the battle outside the city.

Captain-General of the Empire of Night
Jacob dismissed the information, those types of reports would become more common as time went by. The First and Second Legions were already back at Eternal Night relaxing and recovering. Four weeks to make them one hundred percent ready was annoying but unavoidable. The First Legion needed the rest for a while, they had been the premiere Legion leading the Empires forces for months, he would keep them at the capitol until their replacements arrived and they were trained up to Broxs' standards.
Dead silence, Jacob finally understood the phrase as that was what filled the square as the Seneschals body swung from the gallows next to the keep. All those present knew the man's crimes and none shed a tear at the man's death. From what Jacob had learned the man had no family in the city, no wife, no girlfriend, or children either.
"Cut him down and make sure he is buried. He was a traitor, but he still deserves to be buried." Jacob stated and several Legionnaires started moving immediately.

Jacob dismissed the information, everyone deserved a peaceful rest after they died, even this guy. Jacob sighed as he watched the body being carted away. Time to go hunt some pirates.
Surface- White Cap Ocean
Free Lands- Off the western coast of Arakon
Jacob ducked under the swing of the cutlass and rammed his short sword forward eliciting a scream as it pierced the pirates' groin. Jacob grunted as he kicked the pirate towards a small group trying to swarm two Marines about to be overwhelmed. The two Marines immediately took advantage of the distraction and launched a counter-attack. Jacobs world exploded in pain, stupidly he had let himself be distracted, looking down he could see a sword point emerging from his stomach, "Never be distracted, good sir." Someone whispered in his ear before withdrawing the blade from his back. Jacob collapsed to his knees as a pirate walked in front of him.

"Any last words lad?" the pirate asked and Jacob whispered something causing the pirate to lean forward closer to him. Jacob smiled as he activated Bite. The pirate started screaming and hitting Jacob but his fangs were buried in the pirate's throat and his talons pierced his chest burrowing for the pirate's heart. The pirate started spasming as Jacob literarily tore his heart to shreds, but Jacobs health was back over fifty percent and a healing spell hit him. Jacob glared around him as more than one pirate stopped fighting in surprise at what he had done. The Marines quickly assaulted the distracted foes and the Black Eel quickly fell to the Marines of the Sprite and other ships of her squadron.

Unlike other pirate vessels they had captured, the Black Eel was a Trireme. Working together with the Pixies whole squadron they had managed to take her down. Unlocking a quest to invade another set of lands was just a bonus as far as Jacob was concerned, but they didn't have the troops to do it, yet...
Jacob nearly lost his footing as the temporary captain of the Black Eel changed the heading toward Anchorhead, the Pixie and the other ships in her squadron had all suffered damage to take the larger vessel and they would all require extensive repairs.

Jacob watched as the work crews swarm the various ships of the squadron and the newly captive vessels. It had been a long day and he was hungry, Cathrine had already messaged him asking about dinner. Jacob smiled as he made his way through the port city and toward the main plaza. From there, it was just a short Portal ride and then he would be home. While he walked he brought up the Kingdom tab and opened up the Perk Tab. Checking the status, he had accumulated close too fifty thousand between quests and his guild grinding out monsters consistently in the Obsidion Kingdom and pirates on the ocean.
After going back and forth on some of the options he could get with what he had, Jacob purchased Sparring Arena I, Agility Course I, Archery Range I, Moat I, and Basic Moat Monsters I. It left him with just over two thousand experience, but the purchases would allow people to train their Skills up to Level 10 while the Moat and Moat monsters would add another level of defenses around larger villages and towns. The Pugilist
Vincent Roy Salazar has never been your common folk. He climbed any mountain he found in front of him. From a bright young student to an accomplished professor, his life can be described as a continuous race to the top of his chosen fields. Patriarch of a loving family, proud father of three already grown siblings, Roy realizes that his life is the perfect picture of what the average man strives for, and for that he is truly grateful. But happiness is a difficult-to-reach goal, and as he lies in a pool of his own blood, his fist cracked, a young lady crying while cradling his head, he remembers what really gave sense to his youth. Pure Unadulterated Violence The Pugilist wants to be a different take on isekai shenanigans. What would happen if instead of a moronic idiot, a depressed high schooler, or a wannabe hero the one to get his do-over is a fully grown man that has already seen what life has to offer in full? Someone who conformed himself to society, but has always craved something different? In a journey of self-discovery, academy building, god-slaying, and absolutely no harem we follow someone driven by logic, experience, and a smokey goal: to fuck shit up, have fun while doing so, and maybe resume his career as a professor for those strange, magic-wielding, unstable youths that seems to never get enough of his presence. Guys, a few notes, first of all, this is my first time writing long-form fiction. I have a background in psychology, and my main income comes from writing dreary financial articles on SEO blogs. But after a bad break-up, and finding myself falling asleep only while thinking of deus ex machina for stories on this site (and for APGTE) I decided to try my hand at this web series thingy. I'm confident in my grammar, but that's it. Everything else will be a first time, and as such any constructive criticism is encouraged and gratefully accepted. Now, on the story. Romance will be introduced once my little heart is mended, if you are scared of LGBT you may be turned off by the fact that I plan to have no taboo of any kind in my universe, but I won't ever write detailed sex scenes for any characters so don't worry too much. The litRPG part is very light and will take place later in the novel, but it's a key component nonetheless, for world-building and storyline reasons. I already have everything big planned out, so I won't drop it outta nowhere, and I hope you won't find too many flaws in how things pan out. I plan to make The Pugilist an interactive story, with secondary characters created by my audience and introduced after tweaks and careful planning. The main reason I'm writing this is that I want to build a community for myself in this time of isolation. I discovered that exercising, playing the piano or video games means jack-shit when you are utterly miserable, so I hope to give some value to my readers in exchange for praise, fame, money, and companionship. I give full props to anyone who has read this whole mess of a synopsis: I hope to not disappoint too much, now let's write some more steaming garbage that will be in dire need of editing later on.
