《Blood and Honor》Chapter 210- Battle for the Border

Underdark- Forelorn Depths Region
Fallen Obsidion Kingdom- Southern Border
Entry Hall
Mind Warped Guardians and Mind Warped Champions (Elite) were the most prevalent forces they found in the Obsidion Kingdom, so far anyway. It was easy dealing with them, but at times they swarmed the party, that was when combat became difficult. Multiple groups would swarm the party and keep mindlessly attacking until they were killed. Half of the time, aggro inducing abilities did not affect them and they had to kite the enraged beings until they were downed.
They had been down here for eight hours already, yet beyond the capturing the Border Outpost and slaughtering a bunch of Mind Warped beings, they had not done anything significant. The only indication where and what to do was to go forward. They had not encountered any more Mind Flayers though, from what he knew, they were the most powerful Underdark race of Psionics. So who or what could dominate so many over such a vast area? Anastasia and a few others had theories, but they had only theories, they had nothing concrete. Until they figured out who this 'One' was, they could not figure out how to down it.
"How much further are we going to push forward?" Yilme asked after they finished the last group of Mind Warped Guardians.
"What else are we going to do? We are stuck here and our Respawn points are here. In actually, we are about a little over an hour away from the Border Outpost, so as long as people are not too tired I want to push forward." Jacob replied looking at Anastasia.
The raid leader nodded, "One more hour, then I will be calling it quits unless we find another Outpost." Anastasia stated. Suddenly one of the Scouts appeared dropping out of Stealth.
"We got an outpost about 10 minutes due north. It's not swarming with the Mind Warped like the first Outpost, but there is a Mind Warped presence there. Also, we can see the Boss of the place from outside, its a Fomorian. Not the biggest one I have ever seen, but it's still huge compared to any of us." The Scout reported.
Jacob looked at those around him, every single one nodded, answering the unasked question. Time to capture another Outpost.
The Outpost had about a hundred Mind Warped Guardians and Mind Warped Champions (Elite) surrounding it. Several dozen more were within the Outpost grounds, but like before, they mindlessly attacked either upon a pull or sighting the Immortals. It took them less than an hour to clear the surrounding groups, they had to be careful not to pull the Boss when pulling the groups within the Outpost though, otherwise, they could have been overwhelmed easily.
Name: Huvag the Bold (Unique)
Level: 45 (Mini-Boss)
Health: 240,000/240,000
Abilities: Unknown
Well, the Fomorian was about 9 feet tall of muscle and nastiness. According to those that had fought them before, they had a nasty ability to add elemental damage to their attacks, which changed randomly. Some even could unleash magic similar to mages and not just with their physical attacks.

On the other side of the coin, because of their innate magical abilities, Fomorian's also had innate magical resistance. How much varied by individual Fomorian, however like their offensive abilities, their magical resistances tended to lean toward elemental magic and not Light/Holy, Life, Death, Darkness, and Nature. Considering that some so-called 'god' was running things down here and had powerful Mind Magic, the Fomorian was probably fortified against Mind Magic as well.
"This guy is considered small?" Jacob asked over the raid channel eliciting chuckles from his party. His voice might have squeaked a little...
"Yes, he is small considering most Fomorians are at least 11 to 13 feet tall, and the biggest one fought to date was 15 feet tall.' Anastasia chortled out before shaking herself. 'Enough, this is our last big fight before we call it a day. Buff and let's kick off in 2 minutes. Groups 1 through 4 are on the boss, groups five through ten on standby and watching for adds."
Alert...
Buff received Shield of the Elements: Increase Elemental (Fire, Water, Etc...) Resistance by 10% (Duration 1 Hour)
Buff received Lifes Bounty: Increase Constitution by 25, Increase health Regeneration by 10% (Duration 30 Minutes)
Buff received Stoneskin: Increase Armor Rating by 100, Increase Physical Resistance by 10% (Duration 30 Minutes)
Alert...
Jacob dismissed the Alerts as he concentrated on his Self-Buffs, after that he rolled his shoulder and stretched to make sure all his kinks were out as he prepared to take a beating. "Look alive, Group one is starting us off in 10 seconds." A countdown appeared in the corner of Jacobs HUD as Jacob strode to the front of the four groups assigned to the Boss.
A ball of Lightning slammed into Huvags' chest, the Fomorian looked down at his chest then contemptuously at Ashley before roaring and anger and charging them. Once the Huvag was in range, Jacob activated Shield Charge, running to meet the Fomorian.
Jacob slammed into the large humanoids leg, tripping him while he was at a full run and causing the Fomorian to face plant. Huvag cried out in outrage more than pain as he started to get back up, but Jacob triggered Leap and jumped on his back as he was rising Huvag slammed face down into the ground again, before Jacob could do anything else, Huvag threw an elbow back sending the Blood Knight reeling and off the prone figures back.
Jacob gave Huvag a smirk as he got to his knee and activated War Cry. Irritation was replaced with pure hatred as the Skill took effect and Huvag charged Jacob, his giant club started to glow before Huvag slammed it into the ground sending a storm of Magma toward Jacob. The Blood Knight grunted as he dived to the side and out of the oncoming wave of death and destruction.
Jacob managed to avoid most of the oncoming wave, but not all. His health dipped by 10% from being grazed but Jacob just grimaced as he came to his feet to meet Huvags' charge. Jacob activated Hemorrhage as the Fomorian brought his club down. Jacob deflected the strike as he launched a slash at Huvags arm. Arrows and Magic slammed into Huvags back causing the Fomorian to stagger under the assault. Assassins and Thieves dropped in and out of Stealth slashing and stabbing at Huvags back and legs, adding their considerable damage.

Huvag roared in anger or pain and slammed his foot into the ground sending a wave of elemental energy outwards. The five Rogues that had been dogging the Fomorian flanks were hit and dropped out of Stealth. Jacob grunted as he lost 20% of his health, for the lighter armored Rogues, it would be worse.
Multiple AoE healing spells landed on the downed Rogues, it was not as fast as burst healing, but overall it would heal more. Jacob triggered Shield Bash keeping Huvags' attention firmly on him, followed by Triple Slash, causing the Fomorian to grunt as it swung its glowing club at Jacob.
Joseph activated Summon Skeletal Archers after 10 seconds of casting six Skeletal Archers pulled themselves out of the ground and started launching arrows at the Fomorian. Next, he triggered the Desiccation Curse and Enshrouding Plague. The plague damage was a small AoE spell that would affect all hostile forces within a 5-foot area but did not deal friendly damage.
Joseph then pulled his wand from his belt and started sending little magical bolts of Death toward the 9 Foot tall monster that was currently pounding on the guild leader. As Josephs Mana recovered he cast Grasping Hands and Bone Spear, one slowed the large Boss down while the Spear exploded causing damage and opening a wound.
Suddenly another tank entered the battle and the guild leader fell back. The boss was down already to 80% of its health. The Fomorian continued its assault until Jacob used a spell that caused the surrounding area to be cast into Shadows, the Boss was blinded, but friendlies could still see inside. Friendly targets were outlined in blue, hostiles in red. Jacob took a deep breath as he emerged from the Dome of Darkness. A few healers dropped a couple of HoTs on him to help his health pool to recover. He had been sitting at 38%, the boss hit hard and took only about 60% of any magical damage. Huvags' physical resistances were not so profound though, and the physical damage was stacking up.
It didn't stop Jacobs guildmates from pouring the magical firepower onto the Fomorian though. Looking at the Battle Log, the Rangers had the best luck against the creature overall. A constant barrage of arrows and poison from the Assassin types were taking a toll on the Fomorians Health Pool and negating its regeneration abilities.
"We got incoming!!!" Someone screamed out causing Jacob to look up, a good 30 to 40 of the Mind Warped Guardians and Mind Warped Champions (Elite) were approaching. Three of the six reserve groups immediately moved to intercept while the remaining three stayed ready to move to intercept any new groups or to assist downing the Boss.
After two minutes Knight that had been fighting Huvag dropped back and a Shield Warden picked up the aggro. Jacob's health might still be recovering, but his Mana pool was intact so he started lobbing Shadow Bolts toward the monster to help whittle away at its health pool. It wasn't much, but every little bit helped.
This time when the Boss died he did not say anything creepy, just smiled and winked, which might have been even odder. His guildmates immediately went to work on cleanup. Some were looting the bodies, others were looking through the Outpost.

Jacob nodded, "Ok, once the main building is checked out, let's start getting people some sleep. What is the difference between Portal and Teleport Pads anyway?" Jacob replied already thinking about the Quest and finishing it.
"Teleport Pads only works within a limited range and only within the same region. Portal pads do not have that limitation, but Portal Pads also take longer to produce and the components are more expensive. So its a trade-off." The Arcane Archer responded.
Jacob nodded his head, "I will think about introducing them in the Empire. Ok, set a watch. One hour shifts, one party per shift." Jacob stated.
