《Blood and Honor》Chapter 202- Spiders Web

Jacob looked out at the newborn city, the livelihood he had felt on during the Founder Day Celebrations was certainly different than today. This was a more weary celebration of a goddess that might bless you or kill you on this day. "So Ranyln, why are you celebrating this day, despite not being a worshiper of Lolth?" Jacob asked the Governor.
Ranyln smiled, "Because I am still Drow and so are a third of my citizens. None of them worship the Spider goddess, yet we all fear her gaze and what would happen if she looked and found us displeasing. This day is a day celebrating surviving another year under her precious care." He stated before laughing and drinking.
Drake shook his head at his cousin's antics, "Personally I think its an excuse for most Drow to get drunk and mock the Spider and get away with it since most of her Priestesses are to busy celebrating themselves to punish anyone. That's why they are so harsh the remainder of the year."
Jacob smiled as he moved his gaze back to the city, Eiloma and Cathrine were the only ones with him tonight, both June and Chalxae had already been heavily drinking before they had gone. So Jacob had excused them from coming. "So why did you take the risk with our cousin?" Drake asked.
Jacob smiled, "I took a risk on her because I know she has the skills to get the city up and running and I did not feel like imprisoning someone just because they were a fool and an idiot. So I am giving her a shot to excel and make something of her life if she betrays me well then you will have a chance to stick her head on a spike-like you wanted." Jacob told Ranyln who was studying the bottom of his cup before he nodded walked away.
"So how long until you head to the City of Oblivion?" Drake asked he poured fresh drinks for himself and his cousin.
Jacob looked at the clock, "For another hour then we will head there. I have to warn you two, things have gotten a little...rough with Clan Darguun as of late. Be careful and be on your guard, I do not expect any problems from them, but I would rather be careful than being blind-sided."

Empire of Night- City of Oblivion
Jacob walked among the new streets, buildings, and people. About 1/4 of the new population were Drow, the other portions were a mix of Orc, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Duergar, mix breeds, and surprisingly Humans. How the world spawned all these people Jacob did not know, but all of them had backstories on how they got here.

All the infrastructure and military related buildings fully upgrades had been a smart move and would help with the local economy. The celebration was far more outgoing here then it had been at Gahlin, why Jacob did not know, but it was far more apparent. Singers, street performers, gleemen, and other forms of entertainment were almost on every street corner. Where they had come from, Jacob had no idea, but he was fairly certain the local Governor would know.
She certainly knew how to throw a celebration for her people Jacob thought as they made their way to the central keep that had grown in size in proportion to the city. Fewer people were present here, but Legionnaires were definitely patrolling the grounds of the keep.
There were very few people in the keep since most people with the exception of essential personnel would be off celebrating. One of the servants did point out that the Governor, General Brox, and their guests were in the main Council chambers and the servant would gladly show them the way.
Entering the small chamber, Jacob saw Governor Ilmdra Do'und sitting at the head of the table with General Brox to her right and a Duergar to her left. Sitting near them was an unknown Drow woman, but based on her clothing she was a Priestess of Lolth. Standing behind her were two others of her order, one of them an Immortal. Well, that could complicate things.
"Who is this? I know you have fallen on hard times by submitting to the Empire, but now you let halfbreed walk around the place unaccompanied. This is just becoming disgraceful." The Drow woman stated.
Jacob smiled at her, "Well considering they let you in here unaccompanied, I would think I am a step-up. At least I know not to piss on the furniture or floors, unlike some other guests." Jacob replied with a tight smile. Brox gave a suspicious cough and the other Immortals lips quirked as she tried not to smile.
"Excuse me?" She continued.
Jacob smiled even bigger, "Well I did excuse your rudeness, otherwise your head would no longer be attached to your body. I don't know if your arrogance comes from the Drow side or if it comes from being a Priestess of Lolth, either way, you are not measuring up." Jacob stated while rocking back and forth on his feet, his smile a complete Cheshire like one now.
The Priestess hissed at Jacob insulting her heritage and her Priesthood immediately started to go for her daggers but a slight cough from the corner and from the fourth guest grabbed both of their attentions. "I think we should keep this civil High Priestess Talice Kenviir. Lolth would be seriously disappointed in you if you had drawn a weapon on him, not to mention it would have given him grounds for him to kill all of us." the fourth Drow stated. Her presence was different than the three Priests. She wore the emblem of Lolth on her armor proclaiming her allegiance. Other than that, nothing about her stood out. Jacob analyzed her and the High Priestess quickly.

Name: Talice Kenviir (High Priestess of Lolth)
Level: 65
Health: 180,000/180,000
Abilities: Unknown
Name: Ethemice Omriir (Champion of Lolth)
Level: 30
Health: 15,000/15,000
Abilities: Unknown
Jacob dismissed the information, considering the way she was acting she had probably been sent by the goddess herself to ensure this meeting stayed as peaceful as possible. "Ahh, but Champion, it was just about to get interesting."
"We would have killed you and everyone else here you fool!!" Talice spit out and Ethemice sighed and shook her head.
Jacob gave her a tight smile and gestured toward the back wall, "If you would my friend. Please feel free to show yourself and your friends." Jacob stated.
The illusion magic dispersed revealing the Reaper, two Wrath Knights, a squad of Skeletal Warriors and Archers, four Skeletal Mages, and two minor Lichs. "Would you like to reassess your situation?" Jacob asked as he moved a chair and sat down with Cathrine and Eiloma still standing at either of his shoulders.
"Fuck me sideways, where did you get a damned Reaper?" The Immortal asked causing Jacob to smile
"Silence!!!' Talice softly called out as she dragged her eyes away from the Undead and back to Jacob. 'I assume you are the one we were sent to talk to. This is the Non-Aggression Pact establishing the borders of Zeren'gor." The High-Priestess extended the glowing document.
Jacob started reading it and the map causing his world map to update. "Eiloma, can you please read through this and confirm that everything is as it should be.' The High-Priestess started to argue but Jacob shut her down immediately, 'Please don't try to argue the fact that everything is on the strait and narrow with this treaty. Lolth only wants it signed for her own reasons and because it benefits her and your people in some way. So do not insult me and lower my opinion of you anymore by saying otherwise." Jacob told her causing the Drow to close her mouth and sit back.
Eiloma took the document and started reading it and after 10 minutes she nodded, "Its language is very tight for both sides, but more than acceptable. It recognizes our current gains and holds nothing against us for destroying the Sisters of the Damned. Any clan, party, or faction that retaliates against us would be considered outside the treaty and we could respond in kind."
Jacob pondered her words, that was the sense he got from the treaty said and from what he read it was on the level, but Jacob had not been lying when he said Lolth never did anything that didn't have an angle for her or the Drow. Jacob put aside those thoughts and worries for today and signed the document and added his own blood to the treaty, making it binding to the Empire. Once again the magic of the treaty activated and sealed the document and created a duplicate for the High-Priestess. Jacob took one and handed it too Eiloma before standing. "Today is a day of celebration, you are all more than welcome to join me for a drink."
The High-Priestess declined and the other two followed suit, but Jacob could tell the Immortal wanted to stay and talk. The Champion, on the other hand, agreed to stay for one drink.

Jacob ready and looked at the tactical maps in front of him as Cathrine slept next too him. "What are you working on now?" Cathrine sleepily asked as she rolled over and cuddled up to him so that her head was in the crook of Jacobs' shoulder.
"Going over the two proposed plans that Nadal made for fighting the forces of Ordgan come. Reading his best and worst-case scenarios for both, and trying to come up with the best solution so we can do the best we can while minimizing our casualties." Jacob told her.
Cathrine frowned before moving her hand in front of Jacob's eyes and forcing him too look at her, "Let me get this straight, you have a very naked and willing wife in your bed and you would rather read tactical report on a battle plan for when you don't even know you will implement it...Think about that for a second dummy." Cathrine stated as she threw her leg over Jabobs hips and sat astride of him.
Jacob blushed and closed out everything for later, "How willing? You know I am going to have to keep you up to make this up to you, right?" Jacob stated as he pulled her closer into a kiss causing her to moan.

However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
