“EVERYBODY UNDER LEVEL 100 RETREAT!!!!!” (Kneeko)

The lower levels began to retreat as the strongest took position for battle. The giant kraken slowly rose and began to close in on our position. Knowing that we would sustain heavy losses if that thing came to shore I took immediate actions.

“Anyone with ranged attacks take position all around the shore and retreat if this thing gets near you. I wont tolerate any casualties! Have each one of our archers and spell casters guarded by a warrior at all times. Irene, I want you to keep your distance as well. Anastaria and Irya, you will be my support.” (Kneeko)

Having barked my orders I took off to the sky in my dranix form and flew toward the beast. As a water type creature, this octopus should have been a creature I'm weak against but I still had the “amphibious” passive skill which helped me resist water effects a lot better.

Also since I was a fire type creature, I should be able to deal heavy damage to it. I had the lower level minions retreat since they could die from a single attack. If that happened, losses would end up being greater than gains which would suck but truthfully, I was certain of our victory.

Irya was level 400+, Anastaria was higher level than this kraken and we had many members supporting us. If worst came to worst I had also gathered a few nails and hairs from the Vindictae clan members in case I needed to resurrect them.

I didn't know if “any” part of their body would work for that but it was better than severing one of their fingers. Flying over the kraken I began raining fire attacks on it, trying to keep its aggro onto me. If this thing reached the shore, who knows how many foot soldiers would perish.

Everybody was using ranged attacks from all directions, pelting attacks at the beast and slowly chipping away at its HP but all of a sudden the kraken realized it couldn't catch me and began to swim toward the group of hobgoblins using bows and arrows.

If this thing wasn't interested in me anymore, I needed to force it to pay attention to me. I swooped down at very high speed, avoiding tentacles left and right, trying to close the distance. Seeing as I was too fast for its tentacles to catch me, the beast began using water based attacks.

“[Water Jet]“ (Architeuthis)

Uhh? This thing has some sort of consciousness and isn't as stupid as it looks apparently. Having heard its thoughts I immediately avoided the incoming jet of water travelling at high enough speed to cut through granite. Some attacks were too wide to avoid so I skillfully used [Vindic Wave] to dispel them.

The kraken then began to use water blades forcing me to back away to a safe distance. I failed my approach but still managed to get its attention once again. BOOOOM! Suddenly a massive fire explosion took at least 1/5 of the beast's health in one go. Turning around to look at where the attack had come from, I saw Asta with her palm facing the beast.

A slow trickle of smoke was still visible from her palm as she began to gather her mana once again. Even a level 500+ monster couldn't mess with my dragoness which made me very proud of her. The only problem now was that she had aggroed the beast who began to slowly swim toward the group again.

“Ho no you don't! You gutter slag fish!” (Kneeko)

I swooped down swirling left and right around the tentacles with my fiery body and clamped my claws into its tender flesh. [Viper Bite] + [Vindic Flames] combo. In this single attack I poisoned the beast with obscuro, viper neurotoxin and ignited its giant body with heat-less black flames slowly burning its mana away.

“GRRRRRrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuGulululululu*” (Architeuthis)

“PAIN!!! PAIN PAIN! KILL KILL!“ (Architeuthis)

The giant thing began trashing around and tried to grab me as I flew away. The tentacles almost succeeded in catching me but as they were closing in on me, 3 extremely powerful fire based attacks blew up on its face.

Asta, Irya and Irene were perfect supports for a fight like this since I was immune to fire. The kraken had no chance of victory against the Vindictae clan guhuhuhuhu*! I flew in a circle around the beast and kept it busy as the others rained attacks on it.

The kraken used a few water based attacks and began targeting the lower level archers and magic casters but the tank type warriors positioned as their bodyguards blocked most of them. Once I had recuperated enough mana I then used my finishing move. [Deadly Breath]

As the corrosive acid touched its body, the Kraken turned it's giant eyes filled with hatred toward me. This was exactly the reaction I was hoping for. [Death Stare].

“UUUUUUURRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUULULULULUL*” (Architeuthis)

The cries of agony of the beast were blood chilling but the ogres seemed stimulated by it. It was the same as a predator seeing a wounded prey. They then began trowing spears and rocks at the beast as it slowly and painfully died.

Mendy now in her manticore appearance flew next to me and began to use every opening to sting the creature with its scorpion tail and launched many air type magics at it. We were all slaughtering the poor beast with no mercy. This battle was closer to bullying than fighting.

“[Final Flash]“ (Architeuthis)

The giant beast now almost dead began to glow. I could feel this was going to be a last resort type of attack, maybe even a self destruct type one so I yelled to everyone to retreat. Now that it was affected by my [Death Stare], it was already dead anyway... Unless it had a powerful purifying ability or death magic immunity of some sort.

Time to end this before this fucking thing explodes or something... [Arcane LightningBolt + WaterBolt + MagmaBolt: Power 100%]. Summoning 3 circles interlocked with each other, I poured in all my remaining mana and launched it at the beast.

The result was a giant explosion filling the area with steam as a hardened magma rock shaped like a bullet flew at high speed toward the beast. The steam was filled with electric sparks augmenting the electricity's area of effect all around the beast's giant body.

Still alive but only with a sliver of life left I rammed my body against his, trying to envelop the beast with my fiery body. The kraken's skin began to sizzle and burn, making crispy patches appear all over its body. Finally the giant beast died and slowly sunk down the lake.

“No wait NO! FUCKKKKK!!!!” (Kneeko) Whatever this monster dropped after its death was now at the bottom of the lake. Knowing the lake was ridiculously deep, retrieving it was out of the question. Too bothersome... Sighhh* Such a stupid mistake.

Annoyed, I then flew back to the shore where my clansmen and minions were looking at me in awe. What today's experience thought me what that we were ready to face 1 of these pure blooded dragons at a time but more than this would be problematic.

I landed and turned back into my humanoid appearance before putting all of my newly acquired points into strength.

*Crowd cheering *

“Woaaaa The great leader is amazing!! Hooray for the great leader!!!” (Crowd)

“Fufufufu* This seemed a little bit too easy... Your battle strategies could be seen as incredibly unfair don't you think? Fufufu*” (Anastaria)

“Yeaaa this giant thing couldn't do anything against us! Hubb-.. Cough* cough* Kneeko totally toyed with it.” (Irya)

“Yeee yeee things went BOOM! And then BAAM! Then this big thing couldn't do anything and it all went SwoushH! Then FIRE! Then it smelled like fried octopus heheheh* It was soo cool big bro!!!” (Irene)

“Pervert. Fish. Sank. . . Funny... Revenge. PUUurrrrr*” (Mendy) She then added while rubbing herself against me like a cat.

“Guhuhu* Battling against a single opponent couldn't be called a challenge. Look like we won't have octopus meat for diner though.. What a shame.” (Kneeko)

Not wanting her daughter to become an alcoholic, Anastaria pinched Irene's cheek and dragged her back home. That night was going to be filled with food, booze and sex once again! Just how I like it guhuhuhu*.

[MindTech Corp (Real life)]

In a room on the last floor of a giant skyscraper owned by MindTech Corp, the company running Alterlife2, was a balding man yelling at one of the employees working for him.

“I WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO RUIN US!!!!! Brain tumour MY ASS! YOU! You will do whatever it takes to prevent this study from being made public!” (Big Boss?)

“Hmm but they are a private research group with no financial backers. We have nothing to pressure them with so there's little we can do...” (Employee)

“LISTEN TO ME YOU ASSHOLE! I SAID YOU WILL DO ANYTHING YOU CAN!!! I don't give a shit about the method, take their fucking families hostage or kill them all I don't give a shit! If this study goes public our entire company will go bankrupt! WE WILL LOOSE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN INDEMNIFICATION AND LAW SUITS! YOU WILL STOP THAT FROM HAPPENING BY ALL MEANS, AM I CLEAR???” (Big Boss?)

The bald man was the CEO of the company and had recently learned of a private study showing long term damage to the brain and even tumours on subjects using their virtual reality devices for too long. They also learned that this study was soon to be published in an important science magazine.

“Uhh y-yes sir!” (Employee) Said the nervous employee. The man's name was Julian, a chief operating officer (COO) at MindTech Corp. Even though he wouldn't lose as much as the big boss on such a scandal, he would still lose his job as well as thousands more employees.

This was a critical situation which created conflict in his mind. Should he protect his and other employees' job and livelihood at the cost of the customers health ?! Stopping this study from being released could potentially cause the death of thousands of users.

Since his boss was now trowing objects around the room, his face as red as a lobster, the man didn't feel like arguing and simply left after saying he would take care of it. As he got out of the “hellish room” he came across another employee seemingly heading to see the big boss.

“Where are you going?” (Julian) He then asked curiously to the employee working as GM for Alterlife2.

“Ho I found a bugged NPC and to be able to erase him you know I need the boss' authorization.” (GM)

“Uggg... I suggest you don't go in there right now...” (Julian)

“But.. it may cause problem if we don't fix this right now.” (GM)

“What type of bug are we talking about? What's wrong with the NPC?” (Julian)

“Ho well it's a monster with a bugged ranking module. First he ranked up to many strange species and seemed quite suspicious but was still within game mechanic but his last rank up was to a phoenix... Which he didn't have all the components to unlock. The code simply doesn't make sense and it looks as if the NPC cheated....” (GM)

“Sighhh* NPC can't cheat so it must have been some type of corrupt data in his NzdataM.RUD module... Since I seriously suggest against going in the boss' office right now you should simply reset its NzdataM.RUD module database. That way you will fix the problem without having to delete it. That way you don't need the boss authorization.” (Julian)

“Are you sure? If we do that without doing a full reset the NPC will be totally broken... Like an overpowered rabbit or something... He won't be able to rank up for a very long time. I'm sure it will come back to bite us in the ass later.” (GM)

“JUST DO AS I SAY!!!... Sighh* sorry I-... You seriously don't want to go see the boss right now ok? Just do a reset of the NzdataM.RUD module and don't worry about it. Keep up the good work alright?!” (Julian)

“Y-yes sir.. Sorry for imposing.” (GM) The young employee then turned around and went back to his work cubicle.

“Sighhh* This business is going to shit... Who cares about a bugged NPC right now. I'm trying to save our jobs you bunch of idiots...” (Julian) Mumbled the now highly frustrated man.

“Well.. where do I begin now? Would threatening them be enough or do I seriously need to go psycho killer on them...?” (Julian)
