As Damien continued to look into the mirror, he was continuously stunned by what he saw--

He still had the same black hair, his skin was still a tan color and his eyes were still yellow, but his eyes kept being drawn to the changes in his body.

First, he was about 10cm taller than he was before, so he went from 155cm (5"1) to around 165cm (5"4), which made him even more freakishly tall for someone his age, but even this was one of the more normal of the changes to his body.

Then he looked at his eyes and noticed that the pupils that were normally round were replaced with reptilian slits, making the already beast-like eyes look even further inhuman, then he looked next to his pupils at his sclera which had turned black and saw how it only seemed to boost how bright and dangerous his eyes looked, as he looked down from his black sclera, he saw two black lines coming down from the bottom of his eyes, one for each eye, they start at the edge of his eyes and curved down and outwards towards his cheek and then curved back towards the middle of his face, but only slightly and they then stopped when they were parallel to his mouth.

Speaking of his mouth he opened it and looked at his teeth, mainly his canines on both his lower and upper jaw. The teeth were longer, sharper and more pointed, with the top ones being slightly longer, nonetheless both the sets of canines being something far from normal for a normal human being. Apart from that, everything further back behind his canines was the same; sharper and more pointed than they should be.

Overall when looking at his mouth and teeth, Damien couldn't help but laughingly think.

'Isn't this just like the mouth of a beast? I saw many of these in my past life while fighting against Demon Beasts but I never thought I'd be seeing it while I look in the mirror.'

As he thought this, he sighed shaking his head with a wry smile on his face.

'It's not the worst thing that could happen, at least I don't have claws--Wait! I haven't seen my hands yet!'

As soon as this revelation came to Damien's head he started to slowly look down at his hands with a nervous look on his face and when his eyes met his hands--!

--They were fine and this quite frankly surprised Damien.

'Hm? I thought I was gonna get kicked while I was down but looks like my luck's looking up!'

When he thought this he flexed his fingers just to check, and well, he wished he hadn't, he wished he'd never flexed his fingers ever again after knowing they were ''fine''.

In short, when he flexed his fingers, 2 inch long black claws came out of his fingers, they looked incredibly sharp, looking at them, Damien mentally hit himself.

'Me and my big mouth...'

He puffed out a breath of annoyance before looking through his memories for the technique from the Immortal Devil King Technique for something that would allow him to hide his devil features and as he revolved his Devil Qi in the circuit required by the technique, his claws went back into his fingers, he sclera went back to the original white color, the slit pupil went back to a slightly vertically stretched pupil that wasn't quite noticeable and the two markings on his face faded away.

And his teeth went back to normal apart from his canines on his top and lower jaw which were still longer, sharper and more pointed than usual but you'd have to be looking for them to stand out.

As Damien sighed, he wiped some cold sweat off of his brow and wondered how much time had past since he had passed out and gone through the initiation for the Remolding Stage, he looked at the clock in his room shocked by the time that was shown.

"Huh?! 2 hours? Oh wow, I've really been out for a while, lucky for me that I attempted this when it was about 8 pm so I had time to burn. Would've been trouble if my mom burst in and saw a Blood Cocoon in the middle of her son's room." Damien shivered while thinking about how much his Mom would've freaked out.

After thinking this, he trudged over to his bed and went to sleep feeling utterly exhausted from the chain breaking and the mysterious cocoon that changed him.

Hours later he heard a knock at his door. He groggily got up and went to answer it, but not before checking his appearance in the mirror.

"Yes? Who's there?" Damien groggily asked.

"It's your loving mother, Damien. Now, open the door." His mother's sweet voice was what replied to him and Damien slowly put his hand on the door handle before speaking up again.

"Now, mom. Don't get angry but..." Damien slowly opened the door to show his new height "...I had another growth spurt..." Damien cast a helpless smile at his mother who had to deal with his constant growth spurts due to devil cultivation.

Damien could almost see and hear the internal screaming inside his mother's head, her loving and sweet mask cracking a bit at the revelation of Damien's new height.

'It's not my fault Devil Cultivation causes the body to grow quickly, don't look like you're gonna kill me, jeez!'

Slowly, his mother calmed down and seemed to want to distract herself, so she spoke to him.

"Sooo Damien, are you looking forward to tomorrow?"

As soon as he heard this, Damien showed a confused look on his face while he asked in a curious manner "What are you on about, Mother?"

At his answer, his mother looked at him in shock and said "Have you forgot about the fact it's your awakening procedure tomorrow?" his little sister saw an opportunity to annoy him and chimed in with "Yeah big bro, have you forgotten about that? Hehehe you're so forgetful Big Bro!" even though they were incredibly close as siblings, she still kept her base instincts as a little sister and always tried to annoy her older brother whenever the chance arose.

As Damien looked down at his little sister, he smiled mischievously and said "Hm? What did you say? I don't speak idiot and quite frankly I'm not planning on learning it either, sorry Sara." he smile with an 'apologetic' expression on his face as he patted his sister on the head, seeing as her attempt to annoy her brother had backfired and instead she'd been called an idiot instead and she was now being 'pitied' with her brother patting her head, her face flushed red with embarrassment and she mumbled "You're the only idiot here, idiot brother".

As he was teasing his sister, he could see his mom eyeing up his new change in height with a happy expression on her face, it looked prideful...even a little smug...

'Wait! Is it because she has bragging rights now?!'

Damien questioned this in his head for a few seconds before finally coming to an answer as he looked at his mother's smug smile.

'...Yep, it's probably that, for some reasons most parents I've met in this world have been unnaturally proud of any achievement their child has, I guess it has something to do with the fact that if their child is strong they can elevate their families' standing among the other major families of this world'

"Anyway, are you ready for tomorrow? It's your awakening and it's recommended that the day beforehand you rest properly and don't do anything too stressful so you're in tip-top condition."

As Damien listened to his Mom worrying about him he went over what the Awakening procedure was in his head.

'First, you take a substance called Metzlit orally, this was to rouse the ability in your DNA and to get it ready for the main awakening. Once the ability starts to awaken, you enter a metal sphere and there you are injected with liquid Mezlit, this is what causes the main awakening and once it starts to take effect the sphere closes up and a special type of radiation is released into the spherical chamber that acts as a support to the Metzlit. Once the Ability reaches a certain level of awakening it will manifest, if it's a Warrior type the body will show changes or glow and if it's a Mage type the type of magic it grants will be manifested in a small sphere around the user, for example a fire ability will manifest in either Fire on the body for a Warrior type or Fire in a sphere around the person awakening for a Mage type.'

A slightly startling thought came to his head after this.

'Hm, I wonder, what will happen to me, a Half-Devil during this awakening procedure?'

But before he could delve any further, he noticed his mother impatiently looking at him.

"Come on Damien, let's go to the living room where we can discuss which academy you wish to go to after you awaken." she said this in a voice that showed little room for leniency, only because she knew that he was incredibly indecisive when it came to picking which academy he was going to go to.

To prove her point Damien replied with a grimace on his face "But Mom, I don't need to pick yet, right? I don't need to go until I'm 11 and I've only just turned 10!"

Usually, this is when she would let it go and ask him a few weeks later but today she had a reason to push the issue "Damien Nether! You will be picking the academy you will be going to today! The academies require an enrollment of a year in advance to get a guaranteed spot if you have the necessary talent" she said this with the sternest look Damien had seen on his Mother's face in all his 10 years of this life and he could only look away and say an indignant "Okay..."

As they reached the living room, Damien saw and greeted his Father "Hi Dad..." his voice clearly showing how much he didn't want to pick an academy and would rather be doing anything else.

His Father turned to look at him and smiled at his son's reluctance and nodded towards him in greeting.

As he, his sister and his parents all sat down, his parents pointed towards the table between the two sofas they were sitting on, on the table, there were 3 pieces of paper with 3 different names on them and brief descriptions about the academy, they were:

Apex Ability Academy

Only the best of either Warrior or Mage's go to this academy, it's very deserving of its name as the best academy in Tyra. It specializes in giving the best education in both battle and things like Strategy, History, Science etc. The goal of this academy is to make an outstanding student that excels in both studies and fighting.

Mutant Hunter Academy

This is an academy that focuses on making the best Mutant Beast Hunters/Metahuman Hunters, it specializes in putting students into groups of 3 or 4 and training them to work together and focuses on making them have near impeccable team work together.

The aim of the academy is to make it that through the teamwork students can cover for each other's weaknesses and enhance each other's strengths. Also trained to be good at taking other people or people's teams down. Pretty much a glorified assassin academy.

Divine Titan Academy

This is an academy focused on Battle, in any form, all its classes are about how to battle and being able to use your ability you've awakened to it's fullest potential and excavating it to highest level. Most people who enter this academy go in with good battle prowess and graduate with monstrous battle prowess.

So much so that they're usually worth a whole team of Mutant Hunter Academy hunter's in a battle and can even easily fight against students from Apex Ability Academy one on one. Sadly, however, they're ranked 3rd out of these 3 academies. Mainly because all they focus on is strength and their battle prowess, while the others completely outdo Divine Titan Academy in terms of other subjects such as Strategy, History, Science, Technology Studies etc

Without waiting for his parents to speak, he pointed at the third option, Divine Titan Academy and said "I wish to go here, it fits what I want."

To further clarify, he continued speaking "Which is get stronger and focus on improving my battle prowess."

His mother and father both wryly smiled as they looked at their son who thought of nothing but getting stronger. They both knew he'd pick this option but still decided he should think it over. Meanwhile, Damien was steeling his resolve.

'All so I can protect this happiness and relaxation I've gained from my family. It's the least I could do to pay them back for what they've given me.'

His parents, not shocked by his decisiveness, asked with faux-worried expressions on their faces "Are you sure, Damien?" was what his Father said with his Mother following closely behind with "Why don't you think a bit more about it?" but Damien softly shook his head with a determined expression on his face.

Usually Damien would play the part of an obedient son as his respect for his parents dictated so but when it came to strength and opportunities to get said strength; he would take them without a second thought.

"No, I've decided, I don't need to be taught anything else, all I'll need to be taught is how to get stronger, how to use my ability to its maximum potential and the equipment to aid me in getting stronger."

As his parents saw Damien's determination and the savage excitement in his eyes, they conceded and his Mother simply said "Okay, just go and rest. Sleep early, we're going to go early tomorrow to the Awakening Facility, okay Damien?" she said in a stern but gentle and caring voice.

Whenever he heard that voice he simply couldn't think of any reason to disagree with it, so just like usual, he nodded his head to his Mother, walked up to her and kissed her on the cheek and then said goodbye to his family as he walked back to his room to get some rest as he had a big day tomorrow.

'Hmm I'm really stuck between feeling excited and nervous for tomorrow's awakening because of me being a Half-Devil, could something go wrong?'

He thought about it for a few seconds before a wry smile came upon his face.

'Well I guess so, it's pretty much a 50/50 chance whether me undergoing the awakening procedure as a Half-Devil is a blessing or a curse...Ahh oh well, what will happen, will happen.'

As he just about finished this thought, he'd arrived at his room and as he placed his hand over a scanner and it flashed with a green light the door opened and he pretty much flung himself onto his bed, he thought that he'd get some meditation in before going to sleep early.

As he meditated for about 7 or so hours, he finally stopped, his mind calm and stable but also wild with excitement about tomorrow, as he laid down his head, he fell asleep, not knowing that tomorrow was gonna be quite an eventful one.
