《The Making of a God Slayer》Chapter 29: The Heroes Journey (Part 1)

(Mirai’s POV)
I woke up early today. It has been some time since we came to this world, and the lifestyle has been relatively calm. Training, learning magic and learning about the world. We haven’t left the castle at all though, and I feel something strange in the air, mainly with the king.
There is something odd about him, he seems… off, but I can’t put my finger on it. I get up from the luxurious bed and walk to the bathroom reserved for me inside my room. I take a cold bath and put on the clothes that they gave me, a simple shirt and pants with leather boots.
The underwear doesn’t have that much of quality, as they are quite inferior to the ones that came with me from earth, but they’re still comfortable. I sigh and get out of my room, going to the dining room so I ca neat breakfast.
I’ve been feeling a bit depressed recently, as the feeling that something is missing grows by the day. I arrive early at the dining room, so I’m alone now. The maids serve me a vegetable soup, apples and bread. I’ve been eating well since I came here.
I eat slowly, feeling a bit sad, and sip the surprisingly delicious soup. Steps approach, making me turn my head, and the one that I see approaching is one of the girls that was summoned with me, one of my two best friends, Hisaya Tanpopo.
Although her name is cute, her personality and appearance are the opposite. She has long, straight black hair, light brown eyes and pale skin, with a cold expression, like her eyes. She’s also tall, around 1,80 with big breasts. In our school, I hear that she has the nickname of Ice Queen. Well, she is indeed quite hard to approach, but when you get to know her, she’s quite nice.
She notices me, and smiles gently, her beautiful face turning warm from the previous cold look. She approaches, touching my shoulder, her face turning into one of worry.

(Tanpopo): “Mirai? What’s wrong? Your face doesn’t look so good…”
I blink.
(Mirai): “Yes, sorry. I’m feeling a bit depressed.”
I said. Tanpopo pulled a chair and sat by my side.
(Tanpopo): “Is that feeling again?”
She asks, as I already talked to her about this. I nod, pushing the food away.
(Mirai): “Yes. I just can’t get that out of my head.”
She gently pats my back.
(Tanpopo): “Don’t worry, it will pass. Just stay strong, okay?”
She says, genuine worry in her voice. I smile and nod. Although I am still feeling bad, I also feel happy. Me and Tanpopo, as well my other friend, Fukuhara Akari, know each other since childhood, meaning, childhood friends.
(Mirai): “Anyway, how have you been doing?”
She sighed, leaning back in the chair.
(Tanpopo): “Well, I’ve been doing well with magic, but I feel uncomfortable with using a sword. It just doesn’t feel right in my hands.”
I laugh lightly. Tanpopo blushes, she used to be part of the kendo club, but she never was good with a bamboo sword, so she ended up quitting.
(Tanpopo): “And you, Mirai? How have you been doing?”
She asks back.
(Mirai): “Well, I’ve been doing well in magic, according to the teachers. I also have been having an easy time with the sword. I feel like I’ve done it before.”
I said. Indeed, the familiarity with the sword is still there, not just a sensation. Moves that I don’t remember learning, and lessons that I don’t remember having. It’s strange, but not unsettling. Somehow, holding a sword makes me feel relaxed, as if it is something pleasant.
(Mirai): “So, is Akari up yet?”
(Tanpopo): “You know her, she is still sleeping. She’s terrible at mornings.”
I giggle. Indeed, Akari isn’t lazy, on contrary, she’s quite active. Unfortunately, she wasn’t born to wake up in the morning. The hour is around seven in the morning, so it’s obvious that she won’t be up now.

I go back to eating, the soup slightly colder. Tanpopo also eats her breakfast, and after we are done, we go to the training grounds while talking lightly. Our plan is to find a weapon that Tanpopo might like.
However, when we get there, I see someone that I’d rather not meet. Our so called “leader”, Kagami Akira. He’s a half Japanese with European descendance, so he’s blonde and quite good looking, but for some reason, I find him quite… discomforting, to be around.
I can tell that he likes me, I’m not that dumb to not notice the way that he talks and looks at me. But the feeling for him isn’t the same. I feel like je is a bit too persistent for my tastes, and he isn’t even my type.
Unfortunately, he notices us. At the moment, he is shirtless, revealing a mildly exercised body of someone healthy, without that much muscles. He’s sweating a bit with a training sword in his hands. Not far from here, some girls of our class are looking at him training. Smiling, he approaches.
I take a glance at Tanpopo, and she doesn’t seem fazed. As far as I remember from our girls talk, she doesn’t have anyone that she likes, and Akira isn’t her type as well. Akari said that he is her type, but she’d rather try her luck with my brother.
(Akira): “Mirai-san! Hisaya-san too! You both got here early today!”
He says as he puts the tip of the sword on the ground, his hand resting on the pommel, his other hand on his waist, as if posing. I force a smile.
(3° person)
Akira frowns internally at Mirai’s smile. Although it isn’t obvious, he can feel that it’s a fake smile. That is thanks to the intuition given to him by the goddess. Even after noticing, he restrains himself from talking what in his mind, keeping the perfect smile.
(Mirai): “Yeah, we both woke up early today.”
(Akira): “That’s nice! So, if you’re going to train, want to partner up with me? We could change some pointers.”
He said, sympathetically with a nice smile, attracting some jealousy from the few girls watching. And Akira knows that aren’t just girls from his class, a lot of maids of the castle and even some of the woman working here have their eyes on him.
He enjoys their feverish gazes, but the one that he truly wants to look at him like that at the moment is the girl right in front of him. Therefore, he stubbornly makes moves in her openly. However, most of the time they end like now.
(Mirai): “Sorry, Kagami-san, I’m here just to help my friend.”
She said, gripping Tanpopo’s arm. Taking the cue, she starts walking towards the armory, and Mirai waves at Akira, following her. He waves back with a smile in his face.
(Akira): “Shit, I was too thirsty again. I have to hold back a little. I just got rid of that faggot, and the goddess even wiped him of everyone else’s memories. She doesn’t have anyone that she likes, I have my chance. I just need to calm down. In time, I’ll have her in my bed as well.”
He though, looking down to the sword in his hands, frowning lightly.
(Akira): “But still, that goddess could have made her mine from the start, but I guess I’m lucky for she not killing me. That bitch, it wouldn’t hurt giving me more power, right.”
He though, remembering the surprisingly cold goddess. She indeed talked with him in private, and he didn’t like she ordered him around, and even talked as if it was an honor to serve her. He sighed, and went back to swinging the sword, with a bit more of anger this time.

City of Captives
In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the City press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with Essence to power the City in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less! This is largely still a draft. I hope to use any comments and reviews in the future. Thanks for reading!

Raven: The Beginning
'What's the worst that could happen'? is what I thought to myself as I entered the World of the Veil with a new, experimental machine that the company created. I was originally excited to participate in their alpha test, and now, looking back, I was just a naive little girl that didn't know what it was like to truly suffer. Sarah was one of the world's best assassin players, but she wasn't prepared for getting stuck as a low-level player in a new game. Suddenly she has to struggle just to survive against the monsters of the world, while also keeping her secret from the authorities. What happens when the killing, and the consequences, are just too real? Author's Note (and a Warning): This book is about a normal person that is forced into a fantasy / medieval environment. What could possibly go wrong with our heroine? This novel is a sort of, legacy. I wanted to at least put it out there before I passed away due to a combination of financial difficulty, homelessness, job loss, and my last interview taking up the last of my savings (which I did not get the job). If by some miracle, and I get a job that can give me a pay advance by next week (4/8) and I survive this turbulent time, I will edit this - and the formating of the book). If you are so willing, please donate on my patreon page. Regards, Dave

So why not learn and experience some of the Best Stories of Islam to inspire and understand the importance of our lives...One of the ideas that made me compile this book was that Muslim parents while going to bed at night, instead of telling myth and fables to their children, may narrate to them such real and true stories of the golden age of Islam that will create in them an Islamic spirit of love and esteem for sahabah, and thereby improve their Imaan..These stories are taken from various websites, lectures and books and are well researched..These stories are not intended as biographies, but rather to provide a glimpse of the main incidents of each companion's life.
