《The Making of a God Slayer》Chapter 13: Preparing for the Future

(1.300 years until the day of the summoning, Akatsuki's POV)
I sent Yukari to sell teh materials from our hunts again. Why send her? Well, she can change forms and look like an demon while i'm stuck in human form. Also, i gathered information together with Yukari. While she asks around and subornate people, i use my super hearing capacity to listnen the conversation and spy on people. Also, there's a Demon King in this era.
Actually, the existence of the Demon Lord is higher than the existence of the Demon King. Also, it seems that i can be considered a demon. Why? Well, the first demon was born around 400 years ago... yes, i'm older than the whole demon race...
Anyway, the first demon was a human that cursed himself after building up an enormous hate for the human race. Thus, the Evil God gave him his blessing, allowing him to feed from the cores of the monsters. Normally, it would be poison for a human, but with the Evil's God blessing, he was able to eat the cores without dying... but that changed him, making a pair of ominous horns grow on his head.
Thus, he turned in the first demon. Oh, and he's the actual Demon King. Yeah, they're right at their beginning as a race. Oh, as why there's a whole race, everytime that a human curses his own destiny and the destiny of other people, he will recieve the blessing of the Evil God and go on a killing spree, and then, when it's body is strong enought, they can eat the core of an powerfum onster and become a demon.
I wasn't aware, but it seems that by the time they came here, the outside world was in the midle of a war. By the next ten years after the first demons came here, their numbers grew fast as new ones arrived from the outside. Also, it seems that the demons do have comercial connections with other races other than the humans, like the beastman, people with animal ears.

I didn't knew that they existed, and also, i never saw one in my life. It must be becasue the demon race claimed this continent as theirs, since they are the first ones to "live" here. Yeah, if it was like that the owner of the place would be one of those godly beasts in the center of the continent. Yes, some of them are inteligent. I wasn't able to get to the core of this place yet, but i'm close, just got pass the middle of the way.
I'm very curious to see what there's on the end. Also, the demons don't have the same powers as me, they have a big pool of mana instead of spiritual energy, wich is the energy that's inside my body. It seems that the cores from the monsters are made from a mix of spiritual energy and mana, that's why i can eat it without suffering poisoning from mana.
When i eat it, all the energy inside the core turns into spiritual energy, and when th demons eat it, it turns into mana. You also must have strong jaws to break the cores, since that even the smallest one you need an absurd amount of strenght. That's why the demons go on a demon spree, sicne everytime you kill something, you absord part of it's soul, making you stronger. Well, i always got much more power by eating the cores, so i never cared for that.
Well, for the weak one it seems that it's metter a lot, since they can't eat the cores. I also only discovered that thing of absorbing power from the creatures that you defeat when i began to gather information with the demons, since the amount that i absorbed almost didn't made a difference. Aaaaanyway, me and Yukari sold a lot of materials to the demons, earning us an ridiculous amount of money.

Me and Yukari are now sitting on a hut that we built in the deepest part that we were able to get inside the continent. Yukari learned a lot of different magics, so she made an barrier capable of keeping the monsters around here out.
(Akatsuki): "Yukari."
(Yukari): "Yes, Master?"
She asks as she serves me some tea.
(Akatsuki): "I'm thinking in sending you to the outside."
She stops for a moment before asking.
(Yukari): "If it's not rude for me to ask, why would you want that, master?"
(Akatsuki): "I want you to gather information, everything you can. Books, magic, etc. Also, i want you to learn all the lenguages you can learn. Also, i'd like if you were able to gatehr rare materials."
(Yukari): "I see. Then, i will do as master asks. Fow how long you would like me to gather what you asked?"
(Akatsuki): "Hum... i will leave it at your description, since you can always come back with your teleportation magic."
She smiled sweetly to me.
(Yukari): "As you wish, my master."

How to raise a Hive Queen
This story is about a newborn Hive Queen, which gets raised in an unexpected environment. The first part of the story will focus on her development and the challenges that come with it. Eventually she will start to produce her own swarm of hive creatures. The species of the Hive Queen is called the Sylv and they are a insectoid species with an hive mind. The Sylv can evolve themselves through extracting traits from other non Sylv creatures. This is limited to modify the basic set of creatures the Sylv can produce, they are not able to create completely new creatures. In this regard they are more like ants, who have workers, soldiers and queen ants. The Sylv live underground in so called hive complexes and use living structures in them to produce more of their kind. The Hive Queen is the leader of a Sylv Hive and responsible for evolving the swarm. This novel takes place in a fantasy setting and was inspired by other hive species like the Zerg from "Starcraft" made by Blizzard Entertainment, the Arachnea from "Her majesty's swarm" published on j-novel club, and the Vex from "I don't want to be the Hive Queen" by ValetheHowl. I really enjoy stories with an organic hive mind species and want to contribute myself. The focus and theme of this story will change as the Hive Queen matures and defines the goals she wants to achieve.
