《Lair》Volume 2, Chapter 045 – A New Beginning

Surprisingly had some time today while planing about the end of my trimester abroad.
About the story.. I'm a bit sad to say that the quality dropped because of the long time I couldn't write, but I hope to get it up again in the future and at some point still plan to edit the whole thing into a better quality. But considering how long it took for me to get back to writing, I don't dare to think about when that time will arrive.
Lair
Volume 2, Chapter 045 – A New Beginning
By Skalsar
>This... Is this for real, mylord..?How could he not be?
Where the dungeon had a little trading post before, a whole [City] had emerged.
Giant walls surrounding the area in a circle around what was the [Dungeon Entrance] before.
Not long ago, everyone was getting crazy about the [Dungeon Entrance] turning into a giant tower.
That was nothing compared to this.
Odas, Rego and some adventurers knew about this before, but most people here didn't.
They had stayed in [Mafay Village] and were blind to the changes.
A whole [City], clad in black.
Walls surrounding the outer part of the [City], too.
And dividing the space in between into seven smaller districts.
However the people that arrived with Odas tried to comprehend all this, they just couldn't.
Even stone-like buildings which resembled houses had emerged.
Not that many yet, but it seemed to serve the purpose of offering a home for the people for now.
>The [Great Necropolis] is the name of this [City].
No harm shall befall any resident who seeks safety in this [City], by the inhabitants of the [Dungeon]. Neither will any resident be killed in the dungeon, nor within the walls of the [Great Necropolis].
It was a more or less featureless humanoid figure.

A [Morphling], like the observe skill of Rego told him.
Even more shocking.. it now said 'Race: [Hiveborn – Morphling]' now.
>My name is Nydar.
I'm a servant to the [Dungeon Lord] Danar.
This district, will be your home from now on, if you desire it to be.
If not, I will to have to ask you to leave this [City] and us, the inhabitants of it, in peace.
Everyone was now focussing on the weird creature.
Was all this the truth?
Could it really be?
>Is this for real..?How long had they already been staring at all this?
>Your [Local Lord] will from now on serve as one of many [Lord]s of the [Great Necropolis]. We will establish a council with leaders from every district and our [Dungeon Lord]!
From now on, peace shall finally arrive for this region!
And then, all of a sudden, people started crying.
What all had happened?
Setting foot in a new settlement, developing it to a village, being attacked by orcs and frightened by the danger of their surroundings. People died all the time in the dungeon. Family members, friends, lovers. All of it in the pursuit of freedom, happiness and wealth.
And just then, a [Paladin] burns it all down as if the deities were taking a joke on them?
But now, just like this, creatures they thought to be mindless monsters offered them not only help but a home! Declaring what..? Peace?
All the tension of those that suffered suddenly dropped.
There would still be problems like farming and providing cattle, but they would survive.
>Thank you! Thank you [Lord] Odas! And thank you [Lord] Danar!
>We are saved!>Peace! Finally at peace!
But even though most people were positive about it, some stayed vigilant.
Looking upon all of this with sceptic.

>Are you blind?!
How can you accept all this so easily?!
A dungeon being peacefull? It lives to devour! We will all be eaten!
Just see when the first one tries to decline and leave!
>We should be vigilant, yes, but this might be a chance for..
Passing by, Odas raised his voice.
>Yes. Be vigilant my friends.
Be save.
And don't accept blindly.
But saying this..
>Go on and leave.
If you truly think all this is too good to be true.
Maybe that there are some hidden traps.
Or even if you just don't like the inhabitants of the dungeon.
Leave.
We will see what happens than.
How could he go against the words of a [Local Lord].
No, that wasn't it..
Everyone was staring at him.
Yes, he was afraid.
Afraid of being left alone.
'What if I'm wrong and leave..', crossed the mans thoughts.
He dropped his shoulders and head.
>Forgive me, mylord.
I'm simply afraid.
'What if I'm dying alone, outside these walls?', he thought but went on.
>If you ever change your mind. Simply come back.
With that, the man smiled weakly and left.
No screams, no one to stop him.
He simply left the [City] under the watchful eyes of the other people.
Others followed.
And then came back right after as if testing if it was true.
No one seemed to care.
>I'm going to live here. And with this, it seemed to be done.
The [City] [Great Necropolis] has integrated [Mafay Village].
Residents of [Mafay Village] are now recognized as residents of [Great Necropolis]
Local Council: Odas – Lord of the Human District, Danar – Lord of the Hiveborn
Local Races: [Hiveborn], [Humans]
You have settled in the [City] [Great Necropolis]. Congratulations!
