Chapter 40 - Beasts

Day 55

Neo's POV:

Before Neo concentrated on his new research speed or experimenting with beasts, he started to instance his first floors. In the near future, he would get a lot of visitors to his dungeon and he couldn't change rooms while there were people in them. So he decided to get it out of the way. On the first floor, he created nine new boss rooms for his big bad wolves. While he wanted to do more, it would increase the walking distance too much in his opinion. Later, when he had access to permanent portals, he would increase the number of instances further. At the moment, he knew how to make this portals, but he'd have to invest some time to figure out how to integrate their mana supply into his dungeon, like he did with the lighting. Another problem were the missing materials he usually used to create portals. He decided to make a mental note of the issue and keep on with more pressing matters.

For each wolf room on the first floor, he created a copy of the second, third and fourth floor. All of these instances would get back together in the mining floor on his fifths level. There he created nine more bear rooms.

Next was the start of his goblin fortress on level six. He extended its size by a factor of five and made connections from his ten bear rooms to different parts of the fortress. He let the exit of the level the same, but he tripled the size of his pig farm on level seven and he even created the boars he'd forgotten before. Then he created two more farm boss rooms which let to different entrances to his maze on the eighths floor. The other levels stayed the same for now, he would see how many visitors where coming and adjust later. The last change he made, was to install magically reinforced doors on level one, five and seven in front of the boss rooms. He set them up that they would close for an hour after a group went through them. This way, he would be able to prevent his instances from overcrowding. All in all, he'd spent half a million m² on this reconstruction work.

After this, he went on to create some more beasts for his post level ten floors. He wanted at least one monster for each element. First he created a new squirrelling, he did not push it all the way to D12, he needed some little weaker creatures, too.

Lesser wind Squirrelling

This creature is a mixture between a black goblin chieftain and a squirrel. It improved its rank after forming a wind beast core and became even more deadly.

Together with the wind magic, it got even faster and its cutting power with the steel daggers improved.

Neo thought about what creature he wanted next. Then he had an idea that he really liked.

Lesser mutated Gray Rabbit of doom

A small animal that feeds on plants. Grey rabbits are especially curious and often too stupid to understand dangers. Later heavily mutated while being exposed to a very high mana concentration and becoming even more stupid and glowing in a green light. After this the rabbit formed a death magic beast core and is now emitting an aura of withering and decay.

Now this rabbit was even scarier. It was pretty weak in a fight, but you didn't want to get near it.

The next monster he created was a fire panther.

Lesser fire panther

A big cat that lives in forests. This type of panther prefers to live alone and use his stealth for surprise attacks on its prey. After becoming a beast, it uses fire to improve the damage of its surprise attacks.

He forewent to create a water creature, he didn't have water areas after all. He thought about which creature was good for life magic and found a solution that satisfied him. Because of his goblin origin, it didn't become a beast, it became a monster.

Lesser life weregoblin

This creature is a mixture between a black goblin chieftain and a mutated forest wolf. After this, the end result was altered with mana. The creatures body is trapped between a wolf's and a goblin's, as a result it became a little mentally unstable, on the other hand, it's strength and speed improved greatly. After this it was infused with life magic and developed a core. This lead to an abnormal regeneration.

The last creature he created was another earth magic monster. He took the design of a hobgoblin and let it grow as much as he could. At the same time, he infused life energy and earth mana. The result wasn't bad.

Lesser earth giant

An evolved Hobgoblin. It grew even more and became a small giant. Earth giants are extremely strong and resilient.

This was enough development for now. He would take care of his named creatures later, after he could form normal beast cores.

After this he dumped the rest of his floor area into the 12th floor. It became a massive cave with a size of almost one million m². He wanted to create a large forest here, where his beasts could live and hunt. At the moment, he didn't had enough plant material, so he went for using saplings again. After all of this was done, he had a look at his status information again.
