《The Once Simple Life of a Dungeon Skeleton》Chapter 19 - Absorption Finished

"Finally, it looks like the last one is finished regenerating."
Sitting on a stone that I made into a seat, I was watching as the last bit of what was left of my army finally finish regenerating.
"As I thought, they've all changed."
The minions of mine that managed to survive now wore black plate armor. Even the few giant bears, dragons, snakes, and the one giant dog that managed to survive, were covered in black plate armor that surrounded them in a dark aura.
"They changed again, I wonder how strong they are now?"
My regular humanoid minions didn't look much different from me now. The only difference there was between them and I was the fact that my armor made me look like a humanoid dragon.
"Now that we're finished, we can finally proceed to the next floor."
I ordered my minions to get into formation and then proceed to exit the boss room.
"Emerald, Erika, it's time to go."
We walked toward the exit but before we got there I heard Mother speak to me.

You have gained a level...Congratulations
I felt my power increase like nothing ever before. Purple light erupted from me, with purple lightning arching out and hitting the ground around me. Emerald grabbed Erika and jumped back when she saw this.
"This is... amazing!"
----------------------
"Damn it! We lost too many to this boss, why the hell did they go and leave!"
"Grey, relax. We still managed to defeat the boss, calm down."
"I know Brenda, but to lose so many people, I'm a disgrace to Defenders everywhere."

"No you're not Grey, you're the best Defender we have. Now come, we have to get moving otherwise Elisabeth will get angry."
"Alright..."
This last boss was much harder with three of our members missing. We lost nearly fifty of the NPCs, and if that wasn't bad enough, Elisabeth has been much more angry than usual. This dungeon also seemed much harder than all the other dungeons before it, the monsters levels were too high. Usually on floors seventy to eighty the monsters would range from level 150 - 200 but here they were averaging 200 - 300 and the boss was even level 345. Fortunately, with the monsters being such a high level, the loot from them also increased. This increase in loot encouraged the NPCs to stay with us and keep going forward, even at the cost of their lives.
When expeditions begin, groups of adventurers are formed according to their rank. Within these groups, parties are formed and loot obtained by parties is split between both the party and the rest of their ranked group, 50% goes to the party that obtained the loot, and the other 50% is split between the rest of their group. Loot obtained from bosses is split between everyone. In order to prevent conflict, the lowest ranked group (D rank) fights on the first twenty floors. Then the total loot they've gained is gathered and they head back to the top of the dungeon. This process continues next with the C rank group on floors thirty to forty, B rank on floors fifty to sixty, A rank on floors seventy to eighty, and finally S rank on the last twenty floors.
Normally expeditions never make it past the eightieth floor due to there being so few S rank adventures. This is the first time we've ever actually participated in an expedition. We'd usually just enter the dungeon ourselves and have it conquered within the month, but because we have to protect and wait for all of these NPCs to fight through everything, it's taken nearly six just to get to the eightieth floor.

Due to this slow pace, even Elisabeth is starting to get fed up with it. With the monsters being much stronger, our team being down three people, and that odd tremor that occurred a week ago, nothing is going as planned. I could see Elisabeth starting to get angry again, and I was just about to go help her calm down when Sam grabbed my shoulder.
"There's another one."
Sam whispered in my ear, and I was confused for a moment when Sam spoke again.
"Another shake, this one is much weaker than the last."
"What? A dungeon has never shaken before, let alone twice. Are you sure?"
"Of course, you know my skills at detection are the best."
If Sam was telling the truth, then that means that something strong enough to shake a dungeon is waiting for us below.

"Absorb it Mother!"

I could feel the power spreading throughout my entire body, spells I now cast shook the whole room, they were easily ten times more powerful than before.
"AHHAHAHAHAH!"
I cast a simple Frost Bolt and now it had even more strength than the Overloaded version before it. When it impacted the wall of the boss room, it exploded sending ice fragments that were each the size of a regular Frost Bolt flying out which caused even more damage.
"This level of power is unbelievable!"
I pulled out another Mana Core from my Inventory.
"Absorb this Mother!"

"Oh, wow..."
I felt a tap on my shoulder, and when I looked I saw Emerald standing there.
"Are you done playing around friend? I want to go hunting!"
"Oh right, yeah let's go."
"Yay!"
And so, we headed for the exit again and this time we didn't stop. It was time to conquer the last ten floors and finally have my revenge.

The Heart Grows
Dungeon games? Yeah, they're a good way to waste a few hours. The trick is to know the map and plan appropriately. Of course, it doesn't matter if you get beaten. You revise your plan for that map and do a bit better next time. Man, it'd really suck to wake up as a dungeon heart in a fantasy world you know nothing about, barely able to even work out how to control your dungeon. Lucky that wouldn't happen to anybody, huh? What with only having one chance at getting things right, you'd have to plan extra-defensive. This story should be getting chapters published weekly. I have a comfortable buffer set up and on top of the weekly writing I am committing, a commissioner has donated two monthly writing slots to ensure this remains on a weekly schedule. There will be a stat block at the beginning of every chapter bar the first, and a handy map at the end. All my works come with a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. This means you are free to download, publish, and even make derivative works of my writing so long as you include this license, attribution, and don't sell the works. Keep it free!

As such, it is compliant with all applicable Amazon rules and regulations.) Wynne might have been human once. It's hard to say. Now he's a bunker core, a nanomachine controller responsible for an entire complex. Of course, the place is a bit wrecked. And the world outside is ruins. And he's pretty sure that whoever put him here is going to come looking for him at some point... Dungeon Core, Post-apocalyptic style. Come for the mutants, stay for the dystopian adventure! I'm writing day by day without plan nor any idea of where the story is going and I'll be making no effort of editing or proofreading until I'm done with the story if ever. Be warned. Blue sky, blue water, blue moon, green pasture, this is the world of Blue. Long ago, the known world was divided into six kingdoms each embodying its own element. War and violence were everywhere, and the people suffered until one day the death lord had enough. Breaking a long-standing alliance with the Life lord, they killed him and resurrected him as a pawn. Before long, all but the fire lord were puppets under their rule, but the people rejoiced as war was all but finished... … but it was not to be. The death lord grew old. By the time of their final victory, they were already at death door with the armies of the fallen lord still disputing their heritage. Desperate to take things under control before his final demise, a ritual was conceived, one to transform the dying lord into an undying lich. The ritual worked but not without an unforeseen consequence: only the living can control the dead. As one, his former minions rose to overthrow them and before long the powerful elemental lords ruled again as the wight kings. Now immortal, their rules and their war became more cruel than ever and the people despaired, all the blame falling on the one they had once claimed their savior. The wight king's war lasted for six hundred year, but eventually even them were consumed by its violence and peace came. Generations have passed, new kingdoms have raised out of the ashes of the old ones, however the fear of the dead and those who rules over them still haunt the heart of the people. In a world that fears and reject them, death mages must works behind the scene to appease the spirits and heal the scars of the world.
