《Insania Online》Q & A Edition 1.5

Author’s corner: HELLO HELLO! A SMALL TREAT BEFORE THE NEXT CHAPTER!
ANYWAY, as I had promised for yesterday, here is the Q&A. Since this took a lot more time for me to create, I may not be able to finish the chapter today since I will start writing it fairly late, but I may use my little free time tomorrow after the classes to finish it.
ALSO, this took a lot more to make than what I expected, since I did want to keep some flavor on it. Still, I might not make one for a good time now. Maybe next month?
Have a good read.
------
A large stage appears up ahead, extending from one side to the other of a normal person’s field of vision, covered by curtain made of red velvet rolling on a brass bar. As the place mysterious air starts to become slightly uncomfortable a manly and extremely sexy voice sounds on the whole area.
“Hello, Ladies, Gentlemen and Penguins! And welcome to the very first Insania Online Q&A chapter! Hosted by your most favored character, ME, the AUHTOR!” The author discretely heads his hand towards the corner of his table and press a button. The clapping sound echoes around the whole room. “Now, lets go to the best part! Behind this curtain, are what you guys are looking for! The characters!”
The curtain slides open silently, revealing many characters of the story standing in front of the benches and bowing politely before sitting down.
“Now, one more round of applauses for our favored charac… Can somebody wake Wargon up?” The author says as he rubs his eyes annoyed. Yuu blinks surprised before turning to the golem on her side, who was sitting on the chair while sleeping comfortably, looking one step away from starting to snore. The kitsune quickly nudges the golem waking him. “Thanks Yuu…” The author sighs. “Lets stop this fiasco and go to the questions already… Shall we?”
The author picks some papers from beneath his desk and starts reading them.
The author looks towards the characters on stage and his gaze stops on Cygnas, who nods cheerfully while standing up and smiling.
“I’ll take this one. And Yes, sky, there are many other different lesser and minor gods that are venerated on Insania, usually related to a certain area, so they usually have a smaller temple near where they live. The cathedral is actually a place where you can venerate any of the greatest tier of gods, but you can find more dedicate temples on smaller towns and villages.”
The author nods cheerfully and shifts through the papers.
“Okay, Cyg. Since you are already up, I’ll have you help with this next one. Fallian said: What are Aura’s three sizes? And he don’t want her answering since he don’t understand fox-speech. Geez, how can someone not know something so simple?”
Cygnas giggles at this before summoning a measuring tape while beckoning the small fox closer and start measuring her. After some time she stands up again and says.
“Aura is around thirty centimeters tall, fifty centimeters long and tail length of around fifty too.” She said cheerfully while picking the fox on the ground and hugging her.
“Thanks Cyg. I wonder why he wanted to know this… And one more question from sky for either one of you two or Yuu. Doesn’t a Golem stone-hand hurts when he pets you, since it’s rough and hard?”
“Well, that is a natural mistake people make.” Cyg said with a smile. “Golems hand, although far from soft like a human’s, aren’t like the stones you find everywhere, besides being far smoother than what people would imagine, so it doesn’t really hurts at all, feeling a lot like a massage.”

The small fox barks in accordance and the Kitsune noded cheerfully.
“Well, that is one mystery down. One last one, Cyg: Metrux32 wants to ask Aura: You don’t like him petting others, but it seems you already got over it with Yuu. Still, what do you think about him having a harem and you not being in it because you're not human?”
The fox tilts its head slightly and looks at cyg confused for a moment, before nodding and signaling the goddess to say.
“Geez… What kind of words are you guys teaching such a young fox!” Cyg said while puffing her cheeks. “Anyway… She said that initially she was afraid that Yuu could take all of her petting time away, but after learning that Gon wouldn’t stop even if she joined, she don’t really mind much anymore. Not that it stops her from getting jealous… And about the… Harem…” the goddess blushes slightly. “Geez, what are you making me say! It’s something usual on the wilds for a male to have many females, so she can’t really understand what is the problem.”
“Thanks for the insight. You can sit now.” The author said towards the goddess, who bowed politely before sitting down again. “Still, from the same person, Gon, when will you get back to hunting the four gods?”
The golem lifts himself from the bench and walks forward holding back a loud yawn.
“Well, I don’t really have a place to start for now… *yawn* so I don’t know what to do. But as soon as I get a clue I’m going all out… Actually, I might have an idea, but I’m not sure if it will work, you se…”
“No spoilers gon…” The author warns him.
“Sorry, sorry!” he said while scratching his head.
“Okay, back to the bench. Next question is for… Cyg! Again!” Gon walks back towards the bench and sit downs, almost dozing off meanwhile. The goddess walks back up to the front of the stage and looks towards the authors while waiting for the question. “Well, aren’t you a fan favorite? Well, Slayer880 wants to know… Since when aura is in control her fur is blue and Cyg is white, is it possible that when you are in control that you are the passive but when aura is in control that she becomes a battle pet?”
“Hmm, sadly, no. Since the body is still the same, it would mean that she is changing the type of pet she is, and thus her skills and level would be reset every time we changed. And if I were to rewrite it, I would be going against my programming of keeping the game balanced by favoring Gon.” She smiles slightly awkwardly at this.
“Well, there is the reason. Okay, next one is mine, from Warahran. In the beginning it is mentioned that there's no blood in the game, later on Wargon is bleeding. Did something change or did you just forget?” The author reads the question a couple of other times before sighing longly. “You see, there is a deep reason behind this, and it actually meets up with a very important point for the plot ahead…”
“He forgot.” The goddess said sneakily, making the author cringe.
“Look, I didn’t forget, okay? I have my reason for doing something like that and…”
Before the author could finish, the goddess puffed her cheeks and approached him, pulling him out of the seat and pushing him towards the stage.
“If you won’t even answer your own questions truthfully, then you have no right to host this!” She said while scolding him. The Author tried to explain his situation but Cyg simply stared at him and said. “NO! BAD AUTHOR! You go to the stage!” The authors turned towards the stage and walked with his head hanging low. The goddess sighed loudly before sitting on the host’s desk and picking the list. “Okay… Oh! This one is for me!” She said cheerfully. “Warahran wants to know: You said the world in the game developed on its own, so how are clearly game-like structured dungeons like this one formed?”

She took a deep breathing before speaking.
“You see, Wara. I have a system that looks for good places to transform into dungeons, like a warlock’s castle, an abandoned mine and so on. And then it isolate these areas and transform them into dungeons.” She suddenly stops and make a serious face as if to make a point on her next words. “But do know that it only applies to repeatable or instanced dungeons. There are other kind of dungeons that don’t fit into these categories, like a bandit cave and so on. These are just another area on the game. There ARE a few other ways to close a repeatable dungeon, but I’ll leave that for later. Lastly, the NPCs consider these kind of isolated dungeons a cursed area, and that is their explanation of why they don’t simply cease to exist even after being beaten. Hope this explains what you wanted to know!” She says with a cheerful smile before shifting through the papers.
“Oh! Another one for me! And yes, Tomolone! I did enjoy the cookies! Thanks!” She said with a wide smile. “And Lieutenant, he wants to know how your battle with the other cats ended.” She said while turning towards the cat playing poker on the stage.
Lieutenant blinks surprised before jumping down from his chair and walking towards the front of the stage and scratching his head awkwardly.
“Nya-any, Nyaaa-nana-nyy. Nany-nanya nyyyyy na nya!”
“Hmm… That does make sense…” Cygnas nods awkwardly. “Oh, sorry… He said that since he was on the dungeon this whole time he still isn’t sure of the results.” She quickly adds before looking for the next question. “Gon! Ulan Bator wants to know when are you going to meet your father and sister.”
The golem stares at the air for a couple of seconds before finally snapping out of it and saying still on his chair.
“Well… I don’t really know? Probably as soon as they reach Eldor if I would gues…” He said while scratching his head.
“Aren’t you keeping contact with them?” Cygnas asked while tilting her head, but he simply shrugged. The goddess sighed loudly before reading the next question. Afterwards she quickly skims through the papers before stating it. “Okay, these two questions seems to match, so I’ll do them together. Ulan Bator and justdk wants to aks to Yuu’s father what does he think about Gon.” Cygnas stops to think for a moment before snapping her fingers, making a large Screen with the shadow of a person slowly come down from the ceiling. “Since the character still haven’t appeared on the story, we will have to use this vague image and electronically made voice. Sir, if you please.”
Some stactic noise occur as the equipment adjust itself, but after a few seconds an electronic voice echoes.
“Sincerely, I’m divided between being happy with the fact that Yuu finally found a friend, and angry that there is a boy close to my dear daughter. Since I still haven’t met with him, I’ll postpone my decision.” The electronic voice sounded, before stopping for a moment. “But if he dares to touch my daughter before them, I WILL hunt him down!”
“Sir…” The golem suddenly said in an amused tone. “You do know that this isn’t cannon, right? So even if you threaten me here, nothing will happen on the main story, you know?” He said with an awkward smile.
“…Really?”
“Yep…”
“Technology these days…” The man said lastly before the screen started raising back up.
Cyg looks amused at the scene for a moment before turning back to the paper.
“Still justdk, Yuu, Do you see Gon as just a friend, a sensei, a possible love interest, or is he someone you already care deeply for and are already considering wedding/eloping(if needed) plans for?” She blinks surprised before looking towards the Kitsune. “Wow. This one went straight to the point…” She said as she watched Yuu make some breathing exercise to calm herself before walking towards the front of the stage.
“I… Er… Well…” She takes one last deep breath, looks back at the golem who seemed to be distracted searching for the screen on the ceiling. “I… Sincerely do not know…” She said after some time, embarrassed. “I mean… I do like Shishou, since he is one of the few… Friends?” She tilts her head confused for a moment. “No, he is more than a friend… But… I really don’t know what this is… If it is just admiration, of if I really do… L-l-like him…” She stuttered embarrassed for some time, before sighing. “I really don’t know what I feel about him…”
Cygnas and the other blinked surprised at the words of the kitsune, not sure how to react at them. Only the golem still seemingly oblivious to the atmosphere.
“Hmm… Err…” Cyg quickly skims through the paper looking for something to help her with the situation, and finally finds it. “Yuu! TimorUmbra wants to know, why did you choose a kitsune as your character?”
“Hmm… Mostly because it was the one I felt more familiar with…” She said directly while tilting her head.
“Thanks… Now, to the next question…” Cyg said trying to avoid a return of the previous atmosphere. “Gon, Timor wants to know how is your relationship with your sister.”
The golem nods while raising from his chair. On the way, when he crossed his path with the kitsune he briefly petted her head, making the girl blush once again.
“Well, to tell the truth, it’s not bad.” He said while shrugging. “I would even say that its very good. As long as she doesn’t break anything that is mine. Then it’s a whole different story.” He added in a deadpan face.
“Aww… But she was so cute! It can’t be that bad!” Cygnas said with a pout.
“She short-circuited the telephonic line of our house when she was two years old.” He said while looking back at her, making the goddess open her mouth in surprise. “And no, this isn’t a joke.”
“I can relate to that…” The author said from his chair, but became quiet when Cyg stared back at him.
“Anyway… Gon, Asadnimmmer… Did I say that right? Wants to know if you have tried changing your skin for a chameleos like effect…?” She quickly closes her eyes while searching on the net before nodding when she found out the meaning of the word she had not heard before.
“Chameleos? That… might be a good idea. I’ll try that later.” He said amused.
“Okay… The next one is mine… He wants to know if I plan to travel with your sister to see her destructive powers…” She blinks surprised and looks at Gon. “It can’t be THAT bad, can it?” The golem simply nods. “Well… I don’t know… I guess I could, but I would have to see with her and her father if I could.” Cyg said after some time. “Gon, this one is for you from imaginexbreaker: you said in the early chapters that it's not your style so you didn't make Aura a combat pet but now you actually have Lieutenant as a combat pet. So what's stopping you from making Aura a combat pet?”
The golem let out a long sigh before saying.
“To put it cleanly? A body for Cyg, and the fact that I’m in a dungeon at the moment…” He said while smiling wryly. Cyg giggled a bit at the answer before reading the next one.
“Now… he wants to ask me… If any other AI, like the gods knows that this is all a game…” She stops to think for a moment. “Well, the other gods do know that there is a world above of ours, if I could say it that way. The same could be said to player pets, since this helps avoid panics when their owners log out.”
Gon blinks surprised at this and turn back to Aura and Lieutenant, who each barks and gives a thumb up respectively. Cyg smile gently at the scene before turning back to the questions.
“Now, Aura, Retep wants to know… What is it like to share your body with me?” The goddess says as she motion the golem that he can sit back down. Meanwhile the little fox looks towards the goddess who then says: “According to her… It’s a bit strange, but that’s it…” Cygnas pouts a little. “Somehow, I feel a bit sad, being called weird…” She quickly shakes her head. “Now, for the next one, let’s bring back the screen!” She says as the screen slowly comes down again, with a shadowy figure. “Yuu’s mother, Retep wants to know: Do you have any advice for Yuu about pursuing a relationship with Gon?”
A giggle comes from the screen as the kitsune once again turns to a deeper shade of red. Cyg gives her a look of pity as she waits for the answer.
“All that I have to say for my cute daughter, is to be yourself. You are a lot cuter than you give yourself credit for!” The electronic voice sounds. “If you do that, I know that it’s just a matter of time before he will be completely smitten by you.” Yuu’s mouth start to open and close repeatedly as she looks for words, but nothing seemed to come to her, and she simply keeps quiet as the screen lifts again with the sounds of giggles.
“Looks like everyone wants to see you embarrassed, Yuu.” Cyg says while giving her a pitiful look. “Anyway, Lieutenant, one last question for you! Bibonlee wants to know what the purpose of your information network is.”
“Nyaa-nany nyaa na nananynany. Nyaaana nyyaow nyyy nyaaa.”
“Hmm... according to him...” Cyg giggles as she translates. “It’s to find where there are mice, where there are vendors that give food willingly, and which one are mean to the cats… These kind of things.” She said while giggling before turning back to the paper. “Oh, last question of the day! And this is a good one!” She turn to Wargon and smile widely. “Bibonlee wants to know. Gon, when are you going to find out that you are green-eyes the brutal?”
“Well… Probably in… Wait… WHAT?” The golem asks surprised before starting to think about the words, becoming completely oblivious to his surroundings.
Everyone else on the stage starts smiling awkwardly at the scene, as the person in question becomes the last one to discover it.
“Well… That’s all for today’s Q&A.” Cyg said as she stores the papers back into the desk. “See you guys next chap…”
“WAIT A MINUTE!” A voice suddenly booms in the stage, and when everyone turns to look, they see a strangely familiar cyclops standing there. “HOW COME THERE ISN’T A QUESTION FOR ME?” he asks in fury, making the others look at him in wonder.
“Well, no one made any questions for you, so there is nothing I could do…” The author says while shrugging, but the cyclops doesn’t look convinced as he turns to him.
“How come? Doesn’t everyone love me? I heard that I was the favorite character of many readers!” He asked furiously, but the author simply looks away without saying anything. “This forgery! This is all just a fake Q&A you all made! I demand to see the real questions, where there are my…”
“Gon?” Cygnas suddenly said while putting some sunglasses, interrupting the cyclops.
“Okay…” He lifts himself from the bench and turn towards the man creating the ruckus. “HEY, ONE EYE!” he calls him, and the moment the cyclops turns to him, a flash of light occurs on the whole stage.
“GAAAH! MY EYES! THEY BURN! AGAAAAIN!”
Cyg takes off her sunglasses after the scene and says.
And as she says that, the curtain slowly closes again, leaving behind only silence.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
