《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 99: The end of an era
Advertisement
After taking care of everything, and giving Forest to a human doctor to care for her. Adrius went back to his room; it was finally time for him to drink the damned potion.
He had a big smile on his face when he came back into his room. His plan for Forest was totally genius. He used the unexpected situation he found out about to his advantage.
While he was casually reading about the blood sacrifice, he came across a paragraph he somehow missed. The paragraph said: This spelleth can only beest hath used if 't be true the descend'd is at least 5 years fusty. Which translates to: This spell can only be used if the descendant is at least 5 years old.
He doesn’t know how he missed such important information, or why Croft didn’t tell him. And he knows that Croft knows about the rule, because when he asked him about it, he just said. “Of course, I know about it! I read that book from cover to cover when you were still a seed in your fathers' balls.” Croft was drunk at the time, and when he is drunk, he is very crude, at least more than the usual.
He still doesn’t know how he missed such information; it was not like he couldn't read Martani. He is perfectly capable of reading it. Martani is the language of the Magus world. Everyone in the Magus world uses Martani. And he got all of the original Adrius’ memories, who was a noble, so his Martani is better than a lot of people.
But…he still missed such a big detail, a detail that can possibly ruin his plans. And then Forest was born, and Adrius came up with another plan, this one has low cost and very big benefits in return.
He would let his son be born, but…he will not make him train to be a magus. At least if his son didn’t show good talents. Then when his son is at the age where he can reproduce, he will marry him to Forest. Thus, getting grandchildren with the DNA of Forest and his son. He can live for 150 years, so he will probably wait for a couple of generations until the family is big enough and then he would swap in and harvest them all.
“Sometimes, I feel like the smartest person in this world.” Adrius laughed as he was preparing to drink the potion.
He sat down on the bed in a lotus position, the vile was floating in front of him, when he felt comfortable, he took the vile and cracked it open. The smell of the Infinite Dream Rose filled his nostril. Mortals or even weak rank one magus apprentices would have entered a deep sleep by now. But Adrius was neither, the smell only refreshed him. The smell of the rose was refreshing and had a spice into it, a spice that hits all the right spots. It is not too spicy nor too average, but that spice that makes people can’t stop eating the food.
Adrius took a deep breath; it was time for him to increase his cultivation.
“Gulp!”
He drank the whole vile in one go, it tasted like nothing. The smell was in fact only a smell and not the taste of the potion.
Adrius set down the empty vile and closed his eyes, he knew it was coming. Then suddenly a wave of energy entered his dantian. It was like a tsunami; it had the color of the potion. Dark violet.
It raged into his dantian, wishing to come out of his body. Adrius felt like his dantian was going to explode, it was too much energy. But he was prepared for this, he immediately started forcefully pressing the energy on itself. It had terrifying energy, it was the combination of two rank 3 magus apprentices’ souls, but it didn’t have a leader. Thus, it was scattered, if it had a leader or a person controlling it then Adrius would have been a corpse by now.

Adrius used everything he had to press the energy into one ball. He felt his magus robes stick to his body from sweat.
Finally, after countless hours in Adrius’ mind the energy relented and was made into a ball.
The density it had was so enormous it made Adrius wince in pain, his dantian was at its verge. One wrong move from him and boom! His dantian and cultivation is gone. Also, he could possibly cripple himself.
So, he didn’t rush to refine the ball. He took a much-needed time out. He didn’t know how many hours had passed since he was in his dantian trying to contain the energy. But he knows that it has been at least hours.
After 30 minutes, Adrius felt refreshed again. He sent his mind into his dantian again, his dantian was dark! Symbolizing that it was made from the Darkness element. Adrius’ main element.
In the center of the darkness was a humongous ball, it was dark violet. It would have gone unnoticed if this was a normal darkness. But the dantian was made literally out of the Darkness element, so it was darker than the darkest material in the outside world. Here, light doesn’t exist. This was Darkness’ domain.
“Here we go, it is now or never.” A ball of darkness spoke. It was Adrius, this was his mind.
The dark ball came closer to the violet ball and started studying it. It looked calm on the outside, but if you look closely then you could see the storm that was happening inside. It was a storm of fire and light; they were clashing against each other. But not in a destructive way, but in a way to help each other.
Oliver the Mouthless’ affinity was fire, and Sybal was light. Those two go hand in hand together. And they have a common enemy, Darkness. So, they are trying to band together to break the prison they are in and destroy this dark place.
Too bad for them and good for Adrius, they were without an owner. Meaning, they are not that intelligent and can’t use their power correctly.
On the other hand, Adrius was completely whole and knew how to control his powers. So, they don’t have a chance against him.
Adrius took a deep metaphorical breath and started the process of refining. He sent a black lightning bolt toward the ball, the lightning impacted with the ball with a loud boom!
That impact resulted in a part of the ball to separate and fall. It was the size of a fingernail. Take in account that the ball is no larger than a tennis ball. Adrius made sure it was as small as possible.
The shard floated in the dark void, seeing his plan had worked, Adrius immediately started pumping his magic into the shard. The shard tried to resist, but it was overpowered easily by Adrius. In mere seconds the shard started turning from dark violet into a color so dark even light can’t come through it.
It took a few seconds for the whole shard to be transformed, seeing this, Adrius immediately took control of the shard and started absorbing the magic in it.
After some time, Adrius spoke again. “Amazing! This little shard gave me 1,5 points in magic power!” He was very happy that he didn’t devour Oliver the moment he got him. Combining him with another soul of the same rank is the way, it gave him more power this way.
Still high on the magic power he got, Adrius repeated the process. It took him 10 times to finish the ball. Some shards were small, some were big. But after he was done with it all, he pulled his mind from his dantian and breathed.

His room felt small for some reason, it was like he was a giant in a human house. He felt the power surging through him, he felt like a human on cocaine but 10x higher.
He started meditating to calm his mind and himself, it took him some time, but he eventually calmed down.
He opened his eyes and took a very deep breath to calm himself and stop himself from smiling like an idiot.
“This is amazing!” He almost shouted to no one in particular. “My magic points are at 45. I’m literally at peak rank 3 now!” Adrius started laughing.
He thought that he could get more points, but 45 is the max the magic apprentice has. More, and their body will explode. Only official magus can advance further. Thus, Adrius was perfectly glad with his advancement. He was at the peak, now only the other peak rank 3 will threaten him.
“It is only one more step, one more step and I will become a magus.” Fire surged in Adrius’ black eyes.
After Adrius calmed completely down, a problem came into his attention. Should he hide his cultivation or not? If he doesn’t then Headmaster Jason will definitely “invite” him into joining the academy. If he does then he can still slip unnoticed. He may be a rank 3 magus apprentice, but the Raven academy was the ruler of an entire region. It had multiple rank 3.
Adrius just didn’t see them, but he knows they are there. The reason he didn’t see them was because such people do not show their faces a lot. Mostly because almost 90% of them are out there in the world doing missions that take 5 and more years. So, Adrius didn’t have the chance to meet any of them, there is Eve, but she is no match for him.
He also knows that because of his acts, people seem to avoid him. Mostly to keep their lives. In his defense, he is easily irritated.
“Fuck, I need some sleep.” Adrius yawned, he doesn’t know exactly how long it took for him to cultivate, but he knows it was a long time.
So, he laid down and in an instant he fell asleep.
“AWWWWW!”
“AWWWWW!”
“AWWWWW!”
“AWWWWW!”
Adrius jumped from his bed; he has been sleeping for gods know how. And suddenly this disgusting sound woke him up.
“AWWWWW!”
The sound was coming from every direction, it was honestly a terrifying way to wake up.
“AWWWWW!”
Adrius immediately wore his magus robes and mask, just in case, he put his valuables into a bag and slang it over his shoulder.
He opened the door of his room slowly; the corridor was filled with chaos. People were fighting and shouting.
“Take that you maggot!”
“For the academy!”
He heard shouts coming from everywhere. Students in Raven academy uniform were fighting people of all shapes. There were human-like creatures, they looked beautiful and had pointy ears.
A student was fighting a small man, it had a long beard, it almost reached the ground. The man was wearing finely crafted armor. And was casting an Earth type spell.
Then another student was fighting a human, this human wore a white magus robe with a Pegasus on the heart area.
Adrius couldn’t even think, because the moment he walked out of his room he was noticed by 3 people. They were from all the 3 Original Races. The human one was at rank 2, the dwarven was newly advanced rank 3. The strongest was the elf, she was almost at his level.
“Dark Eyed Demon! Today is the day you die for all the crimes you committed.” The human shouted.
Adrius didn’t answer, he just waved his hand and a black lightning bolt shot from his hand. The elf went to protect the man but she was too late.
The bolt hit him point on, the man was sent several meters back and when the smoke disappeared, a black body was all that was left.
“You vile creature!” The elf screamed, she had silver hair, marking her as a nobility in the elf hierarchy.
“If I am vile, then what are you, you incest born bitch?” Adrius attacked again, the elf went on to match him, but she realized too late that his strike was not at her, but at her partner. The dwarven guy. The black flame connected with a wall of flames. The dwarf was doing all he could to stop the black fireball.
“This is for every innocent you killed in Valaq, you monster!” Shouted the dwarf while sweating from the heat, and from trying to keep the fireball from breaking his flame wall. But who was he? He was still a newly advanced rank 3 magus apprentice. The wall of flames only lasted for 2 seconds and then it broke apart. The dwarf had a terrified look on his face when the fireball connected with him.
“AGHHHH!” He let out a blood curdling scream, the fire started to spread all over his body. He tried to stop it but it was in vain. He screamed and screamed until he went quiet. “Boom!” His lifeless body impacted on the ground.
The elf magus apprentice couldn’t help him because Adrius was fighting with her.
She backed away and then she held her hand palm first. Adrius wanted to mock what she was doing, but suddenly he felt an invisible force hit him in the stomach.
“Puff!” Adrius spat a mouthful of blood, he was confused, what the fuck hit him?
“Ahh!” He shouted again; another invisible force hit him. ‘What is happening?’ His mind was going a mile an hour.
Finally, he remembered a thing, he used his magic to sense the area around him and there it was!
Magic was all around the girl, but it was magic particles he never saw before. Not in this shape before.
“This….” Adrius spat another mouthful of blood. “This is the Air element! But how? There is no Air element!”
The girl laughed. “It seems you are not as smart as people credit you.” She then attacked again. Adrius wasn’t hopeless like a few seconds ago, he sensed the attack coming and immediately activated Dark Shield.
His magic powers were stronger than the girl in front of him, but it seems that she was being boosted by something. Because her attack fought against his shield until last breath.
“Now it is my turn!” Adrius smiled wickedly. The elf didn’t see his face, but his eyes told her he was smiling.
Adrius immediately shot a Dark Fireball at her; the fireball was the size of a watermelon. The fires were pitch black and radiated immense heat. It could burn a mortal to death even if they were 15 meters away from it.
Adrius noticed that the tip of the girl’s clothes started to char and crumble. The fireball was fast, it was very fast. The elf girl couldn’t dodge it, so she activated her shield spell. An invisible shield appeared in front of the girl. The fireball clashed against it, Adrius felt like it was beginning to crumble, so he pumped more magic into the fireball. The fireball grew bigger and bigger. The heat was so strong Adrius’ clothes started to catch fire. Sweat was rolling from his body like a fountain.
The elf girl was also pumping more magic into her shield, but it seemed that it wasn’t enough. Her clothes were all burnt off, showing her figure. Some parts of her fingertips were coal black from the heat.
Seeing this, Adrius attacked again. But this time a dark arrow started forming in front of him. He pumped magic into it, and the arrow eventually became 5 meters tall. Adrius was satisfied with the result. So, he shot it.
The girl saw the second attack and her face paled. Fear was shown in her eyes.
The arrow shot at lightning speed, it clashed with the barrier.
“Crack!” The barrier started to crack, the girl’s face went all white and she turned to run before the barrier broke.
“Crack!” But she was too late, the barrier broke and the arrow immediately continued its way.
“Ahhh!” The arrow pierced the girl’s chest, she flew from the impact and got stuck on the wall. She was hanging from the wall by the arrow in her chest.
“Merc-” Before she could finish her sentence the dark fireball arrived and her screams filled the place.
Adrius looked at the charred corpse in front of him and shook his head. “So weak.”
He still doesn’t understand how there is a person who can use the Air element but that is a question for another time. Now it is time to run.
He had the inheritance map with him, so he was all set.
“It seems that the two races allied with the Pegasus academy to take The Raven academy down. And I’m pretty sure they will kill me even if I kill the headmaster personally. So, the only option is to run and go to the inheritance ground.” Adrius concluded.
So, with that in mind, Adrius carried his bag on his shoulder and ran. He ran past people fighting, some of them tried to stop him but he killed them quickly. He saw Eve’s body, four people were dead around her dead body.
He finally arrived at the place Croft told him was the emergency exit. He entered his magic into the stone and it immediately opened a stairway that goes up. Adrius looked back at the academy that has been his home for the last 4 years or so. He didn’t feel sad or angry, he has gotten everything he can get from the academy after all. He felt like this era of his life is over, and a new one is up ahead of him.
So, with a deep breath, Adrius took the first step. His first step as a rogue magus, his first step of freedom. The first step of his legend.

Statless
Summary Alexander Weiss, an intelligent and slightly unusual man, always dreamt of becoming a mage. Sadly, reality is harsh and even his best efforts never allowed him to achieve his goal during his lifetime... or did they? One has to be careful what they wish for, lest they might live to see it fulfilled. Description Follow Alex, a man whose pursuit of magic could not even be stopped by his non-magical reality, going as far as to create it himself, only to encounter an unsurmountable obstacle shortly before achieving his lifes goal, denying him all access to these powers. His journey will take him through a miraculous world, full of wonders, magic and manic beasts trying to devour him! He will learn much about this world during his adventures, exploring individual aspects of the System and the various monsters that came from it... or did they? Strong points What you'll get from this novel is the following (read with overly enthusiastic salesman-voice) : • An ending! I'll complete it, no matter what. Well, not "no matter what", but as long as I don't unexpectedly end, this novel won't either! • Good grammar! Might not be perfect, but it's definitely good enough to not detract from the story in the slightest. I'll also fix any reported mistakes as soon as possible, be they grammatical, syntactical or just inconsistencies. • No plot-armor! Or plot-weapons! Or plot-... potions? And no plot-holes! If you see some, it's most likely information that is being witheld for future revelations! But in the (hopefully) very unlikely case of such a vile beast being encountered, please inform me immediately and I'll see to slaying it without grace! (Translation: If you see plot-holes, tell me and I'll fix them) • Logic! [Hidden : Spoilers][Hidden : More Spoilers] [Moved to Chapter [Hidden Spoiler]'s Author's Note] Marvelous, I know! • Blue Boxes! And maybe something more! • Sensible retroactive edits! Not to be confused with radioactive edits! You'll not have to re-read previous chapters, even if they get some major edits. If they were to receive new information, I'll add that very information to the newly released chapters too, in a reasonable way. • Realism! Shocking, I know! Especially considering the tag related to that and the point about "Logic!". This also means that the story will be... well, realistically depicting a pretty messed up world. Don't expect bunnies... at least not cute ones. • Relatively faster paced! No long and boring descriptions of irrelevant stuff. There will be some longer descriptions about important things, but that's gonna be necessary world- and/or character-building! • Short action! Might not be a plus for some, but you won't have to look at a whole (or, god forbit, multiple) chapter describing a fight against the same enemy... • Strategy and hard progression! It's a dog-eat-dog world! No grinding/power-creep! If you're up against three enemies of your level at once, you've already lost! • Understanding! It will be mostly about discovering the wonders of this new world and how it became like that, all while trying to survive. So there will be enough action nonetheless! • Humor! Sometimes dark, sometimes light, always at the worst moment! • Constructive critics, welcome! Destructive critics, nope... I can handle criticism though, so don't go easy on me! Just make sure it's really a mistake when complaining about something. • Will add more in the future! If I can think of more stuff...
